One person had an area three cun long and one cun wide on the center of their back, suffering from unbearable itching. They had to scratch and scrape it daily until the skin broke and bled to feel relief; this condition is named "Baijiao Feng" (Hundred-Foot Wind). The physician used tung oil and calcined alkali, beaten and melted together, formed into a shape matching the length and width of the affected area, with a hollow groove in the center. The side with the bottom was placed against the patient's skin, then boiling sesame oil was poured into the hollow groove to apply heat therapy. The treatment continued until the pain became unbearable, after which it stopped. After three sessions, the patient recovered.
A young woman suffered from continuous abdominal pain due to cold pathogenic factors and phlegm-dampness lingering in the Three Yin meridians. Frequent administration of warming, unblocking, and qi-regulating herbs was ineffective. A modified prescription was used:
Evodia Fruit (Wuzhuyu), Cinnamon Bark (Rougui), Dried Ginger (Ganjiang), Costus Root (Muxiang), Lindera Root (Wuyao), Tangerine Peel (Chenpi) (ground into powder, taken with warm aged wine, 3 qian, cured immediately.)
Another young woman experienced miscarriage every time she reached the third month of pregnancy. In TCM, at three months, the Heart meridian nourishes the fetus. The Heart belongs to Fire and governs Blood; the fetus relies on blood for nourishment. The fetus inherits a Wood-Fire constitution and resides in the Heart, the Fire organ. The fetal pulse and the Heart's fire merge, scorching the blood and consuming fluids, causing the fetal root to become dry and stagnant, making it difficult for the Five Zang organs to sustain the fetus, leading to miscarriage. This is like a melon hanging from a vine; when the vine withers, the melon falls. Using the Qingying Shuntai Decoction (Clear Nutrient and Smooth Fetus Decoction), administered starting one month before the prone miscarriage period, one dose every two or three days, stopping after passing the fifth and seventh months. This is because miscarriages often occur in odd-numbered months; odd numbers are Yang and belong to Fire. If the miscarriage is due to deficiency, Qi and Blood should be tonified.
Rehmannia Root (Shengdi), Angelica Sinensis (Danggui), White Peony Root (Baishao), Bitter Orange (Zhike), Scutellaria Root (Huangqin), Ophiopogon Tuber (Maidong), Gardenia Fruit (Zhizi), Rehmannia Prepared Root (Yuanshen), Anemarrhena Rhizome (Zhimu), Phellodendron Bark (Chuanbai), or add Coptis Rhizome (Chuanlian).
An elderly woman suffered from difficulty urinating, with only drops coming out, pain like knife stabbing, and a bearing-down sensation in the lower abdomen. This was caused by Dragon-Lei Fire (internal hyperactive fire) binding with damp-heat in the Small Intestine. It was necessary to drain Liver heat and promote diuresis to eliminate dampness. After more than ten doses, she fully recovered.
Gentian Root (Longdancao), Picrorhiza Rhizome (Huhuanglian), Aloe (Lvhui), Talcum (Huashi), Gardenia Fruit (Zhizi), Moutan Cortex (Danpi), Scutellaria Root (Pianqin), Sophora Root (Kushen), Alisma Rhizome (Zexie), Tetrapanax Pith (Tongcao), Dianthus Flower (Qumai), Plantago Seed (Cheqianzi), with Amber Powder (Hupo xie) as a guiding herb.
An elderly man had damp-heat accumulating in the Large Intestine, which over time transformed into tapeworms (Cunbai Chong), causing unbearable itching. A deworming method was used: four doses taken early in the morning to eradicate the root cause.
Quince Seed (Shijunzi), Walnut Seed (Wuyi), Polyporus (Leiwu), Chinaberry Seed (Lianzi), Pagoda Tree Pod (Huaijiao), Chinese Holly Root (Guanzhong), Nematode Herb (Heshi), Phellodendron Bark (Chuanbai), Plum (Wumei), with Yellow Earth (Huangtu, 1 liang) as a guiding herb.
An elderly man was thin and small. Upon occasional pulse diagnosis, his pulse was completely absent. He claimed to have been born without a pulse and had never been ill in his life. This is a rare phenomenon in the world, recorded here to broaden the horizons of the medical community.
An elderly woman who usually suffered from bleeding suddenly vomited a basin full of blood due to labor. Various treatments were ineffective. Later, using a Descending Qi and Resolving Stasis formula, the bleeding stopped immediately. This was due to Qi stagnation transforming into Fire, forcing blood to move recklessly.
Perilla Fruit (Suzi), Angelica Sinensis Tail (Guiwei), Curcuma Tuber (Yujin), Inula Flower (Xuanfuhua), Green Tangerine Peel Network (Qingpiluo), Cyperus Rhizome (Xiangfu), Notoginseng Root (Sanqi), Charred Schizonepeta Spike (Jingjietan), Corydalis Rhizome (Yanhusuo), Tangerine Peel Network (Juluo), Agarwood End (Xiangjangmo), with Finger Citron (Foshou), Amber (Hupo), and Lotus Node (Oujie) as guides.
A person suffered from asthma triggered by exposure to wind-cold or by labor. Xiao Qinglong Tang (Minor Blue Dragon Decoction) was appropriate.

A person had three hard nodules on the wrist, the size of chess pieces, caused by anger injuring the Liver, Qi stagnation, and phlegm coagulation in the collaterals. Burning needle therapy was applied, draining yellow glue-like fluid; this is a Phlegm Tumor (Tan Liu). A caustic paste strip (Jiangtiao) was inserted to extract the hard core. Generally, if a tumor has red threads on the skin, it is a Blood Tumor (Xue Liu). Cutting it with a knife causes uncontrollable bleeding and death. If the tumor feels soft or varies in size, it is a Qi Tumor (Qi Liu). Mistakenly cutting it disperses True Qi immediately, leading to danger. There is also a Sinew Tumor (Jin Liu), where sinews resemble coiled earthworms; it cannot withstand knives/needles, easily causing sinew contraction and inability to extend. Only Bone Tumors (Gu Liu) and Flesh Tumors (Rou Liu) can be treated initially with burning needles and inserted caustic strips to dissolve the root. Once swollen like plums or peaches, knives and needles must absolutely not be used to avoid harming the patient.
An elderly man had a diffuse carbuncle on the back with numerous sores. Although pus drained, due to old age and Qi-Blood deficiency, tonification and expulsion were necessary. Ten doses of Shiquan Dabu Tang (Ten Complete Tonifying Decoction) reduced the base, but the sore protruded higher. It was cut open with a knife and scissors to drain pus and blood, and after eighty days of regulation, he recovered. (Note: Elderly patients with back carbuncles often die within three to five years even if they recover.)
An elderly man had a carbuncle on the back (Duikou Chuang), stiff as a plate, intolerable pain. Crushed garlic was spread on the lesion, followed by moxibustion to warm and unblock the vessels, turning the condition Yang. Internally, Yangba Wei Wan (Eight Yang Pill) plus Astragalus Root (Huangqi) and Codonopsis Root (Dangshen) were given to support Zheng Qi. After three days, burning needles were applied, followed by inserting medicinal wicks. After another three days, the hardness turned to rot and gradually fell off, healing completely after a hundred days.
In summer, a person developed a boil on the sole of the foot. After mistakenly eating pork, the toxin dispersed rapidly (Zouhuang), spreading from the leg to the ribs. Several areas swelled like phlegm masses of varying sizes, with unbearable pain. Following boil treatment methods, pain stopped in one day. It must not be treated as a phlegm mass; burning needles would cause immediate danger. Once pus matured, it was lanced with a knife, taking about a month to heal.
A girl was born without an anus. First, a medicinal thread was used to pierce and lift the anal skin. After four days of traction, a scalpel was used to puncture the center of the anus. A thin wooden spike about one cun long, wrapped in thin cotton, was inserted into the incision for three days to prevent the skin and flesh from reconnecting, thus creating a functional human being.
A child was born with the frenulum under the tongue connected to the lower gum, preventing movement. Scissors were used to cut the central frenulum under the tongue. Hemostatic medicine was applied to stop bleeding, and the child recovered.
A youth often sat bare-backed against a cold stone wall in summer for coolness. Unaware that Yin cold congealed and obstructed the meridians, he soon felt back soreness and pain, worsening daily. Treatment failed, and he died after six months.
A child had bone tumors all over the body, hard and adhering to the bone, of varying sizes, with muscles wasting away. This was caused by the mother's Kidney deficiency and improper sexual relations during pregnancy, transmitting the pathogenic energy to the fetus. Long-term use of Shenqi Tang (Kidney Qi Decoction) led to spontaneous resolution.
Prepared Rehmannia Root (Shudi), Dodder Seed (Tusizi), Cornus Fruit (Yurou), Psoralea Fruit (Poguozhi), Goji Berry (Qizi), Angelica Sinensis (Danggui), Kelp (Kunbu), Seaweed (Haidai), Achyranthes Root (Huainiuxi), Frankincense (Ruxiang), Raspberry (Fupenzi), Tangerine Peel (Chenpi).
A woman with Qi stagnation developed three hard nodules in the left breast, the size of chess pieces, lasting only one month. Burning needles were used, followed by inserting caustic strips, once every six days. After several sessions, the nodules dissolved. Early treatment is essential. If the lump grows large like a plum or peach, or ulcerates with bloody water or cauliflower-like growths, it is incurable.

An elderly woman had a phlegm mass on her leg. Initially dull pain, after twenty days it became highly swollen and painful, the leg swollen like a corpse, appearance wasting away. Burning needles were applied, but she felt no pain, indicating Spleen failure and muscle death, leading to demise.
A youth with puffy yellow complexion and weak spirit had phlegm masses on the back and beside the breasts, diffusely swollen, bright, and extremely painful. Needling drained yellow fluid, indicating Spleen deficiency with dampness overflow. Two months later, just as the sores were closing, sudden whole-body edema occurred, wounds burst, and he died shortly after.
After an illness, floating fire scorched the Lungs, causing hoarseness and difficulty speaking. Liudiu Tang (Six Ingredient Decoction) brought quick recovery.
A woman had initial hidden pain below the ear, gradually swelling. After treatment, swelling subsided, but the jaw remained tight for two months. A hole below the cheekbone discharged pus, indicating bone trough wind (Gu Cao Feng) pus toxin forming multiple bones resisting the jaw. A knife pierced to the end of the gum, a little Jiang Dan (Red Sublimate Paste) was inserted, and the mouth was kept closed for half a day without eating to prevent toxic drug entry into the throat. The multiple bones were extracted, and she recovered.
An elderly woman could not open her jaw. A deep hole in the gum discharged foul water, and she could not eat. Ultimately, this was an incurable condition.
A postpartum woman suffered from wind generated by Blood deficiency, causing body itching with white scales, hair loss, and blurred vision. Qufeng Runzao Liangxue Wan (Wind-Expelling, Moistening-Drying, Cooling-Blood Pill) was given. After half a year, the disease disappeared as if it had never existed.
A person had a swollen and ulcerated navel discharging yellow fluid, caused by intestinal and stomach damp-heat exiting through the navel. Internally, clearing and promoting diuresis for damp-heat herbs were given. Externally, Huang Ti Dan (Yellow Lifting Dan) was sprinkled. Gradually, swelling subsided, fluid dried, and he recovered.
A yellow and thin woman salivated excessively upon seeing raw rice, feeling relief only after eating. This indicated Spleen deficiency with abundant dampness, transforming into heat and generating worms. Wumei, Lianzi, Heshi, Guanzhong, Huaijiao, Leiwu, Wuyi, Chuanlian, Binglang, Sichuan Pepper were given, decocted in Yellow Earth soup. After ten doses, she was safe.
A very thin girl constantly ate dirty rags and mud. This indicated worm nests in the abdomen. Deworming herbs eradicated the root after more than ten doses.
A person with residual toxicity after illness had swollen and stiff jaws, foul-smelling rotten gums, and discharge of dark red-black fluid. Unable to eat, medication was ineffective, and he died.
A person with normal daily habits craved eating metals, stones, and earth. This was due to extreme Liver-Stomach Fire generating worms capable of grinding hard objects. Decoction of Isatis Leaf (Daqingye) drunk for twenty days cleared Liver Fire, curing the condition.
A person lost heavily in gambling day and night, causing Ministerial Fire to boil and disturb the Heart Palace, biting off a piece of his tongue without realizing it. Jianghuo Anxin Yao (Fire-Descending and Heart-Calming Medicine) cured him.
A person had phlegm masses since age six, with eighteen ulcerated areas from the back to the buttocks, continuously discharging yellow fluid. Untreated until age thirty, although his appearance was ruined, his appetite remained. This was likely due to excessive cooling herbs early on, freezing the muscles, rendering treatment ineffective.
A widow with unresolved grievances had depression-fire steaming upward, causing holes at the base of the tongue discharging foul odor, known as "Double Tongue" (Chong She). Years of treatment were unsuccessful.
A person with initial jaw swelling and closure was advised by other doctors to eat pungent and stimulating foods. This aided wind-heat and fire, trapping toxins, causing severe swelling and stiffness, permanent jaw lock, and only ability to eat porridge, becoming a chronic bone trough wind case, incurable for life.
A person developed a boil on the middle finger. Eating pork and drinking alcohol caused toxin dispersion (Zouhuang). Heavy toxicity caused swelling and pain for three years without relief. First, a bowl of American Ginseng and Longan soup was given to consolidate Yuan Qi. Then, a sharp knife amputated the affected finger segment at the root. Hemostatic medicine was applied to the wound, and the hand was immersed in cold water. Later, remaining toxins were extracted, achieving full recovery in one month.
Anger caused Lung Qi obstruction, making it difficult to swallow liquids. Initially treated as throat wind without effect. I used Liver-soothing and Qi-regulating herbs (Su Geng, Peilan, Zhike, Chenxiang, Meiguihua, Yujin, Xiangfu, Muxiang, Foshou). Four doses brought peace.
A person was burned by gunpowder, scalding the head, face, and both hands. Skin was about to rot, with blisters. Raw Rhubarb powder mixed with old tung oil was applied externally, covered with paper skin, changed every two days. Full recovery in one month.
A person suffered from intermittent dysentery for over twenty years. First, six doses of Qi-supporting tonics were given. Then, Dachengqi Tang (Major Order the Qi Decoction) three doses were used to attack old accumulation, expelling a blood clot (accumulation bound by blood, hiding in the recesses of the Large Intestine, triggered occasionally, recurring and stopping repeatedly). Afterward, tonification and regulation for over a month led to recovery.
A child had a carbuncle at the Huantiao acupoint. Due to excessive cooling herbs, muscles froze, forming a fistula discharging clear pus, causing limping in one leg. Ultimately incurable.
A woman had a carbuncle on the inner ankle bone, shaped like a peeled eel, rotting and discharging foul water (dampness in the body tends to flow downward). Shengshi Dan (Dampness-Overcoming Dan) was applied, and the area was tightly bound so the medicine wouldn't wash away with the fluid. She eventually recovered.
A man had a back carbuncle on the left foot, rotting, foul, and extremely painful. Ascension and recovery were difficult in the lower foot. Shengshi Dan was applied, tightly bound, once every four days. Results achieved in fifty days.

Toxic blood was removed with needle-lancing. Externally, old tung oil mixed with Liangqing San (Cooling Clearing Powder) was applied. Internally, cooling-blood and damp-draining herbs were given, yielding immediate results.
A child constantly discharged foul pus from the upper gum seam, known as Tooth Fistula (Ya Lou). Silver probes tested it, finding the fistula connected to the nose, leaving no effective treatment.
A person had a fistula in the inner eye corner. Probing showed connection to the outside. Old Jiangtiao was inserted first to dissolve the tube, then sharp scissors opened it up. Flesh-generating medicine was applied, and a plaster was worn for one month for complete healing. If connected to the inside of the eye, it is absolutely incurable.
A woman had a boil at the corner of the mouth. Mistakenly eating pork caused toxin dispersion. Lips swelled and turned hard. Needling drew no blood, accompanied by extreme pain, irritability, nausea, and vomiting, indicating internal toxin closure. Toxin spread to the hypochondrium, causing diffuse swelling in three areas, like flowing abscesses (burning needles would cause immediate death). Internally, Dingdu Fusheng Tang (Boil-Toxin Reviving Decoction, recorded in *Waike Zhengzong*) twelve doses were given. Pus drained and swelling subsided on the lips, but hypochondriac pus appeared only after a month, healing completely after a hundred days.

A person had a flesh tumor on the wrist, apricot-sized. After needling, while weeding fields, tendons and vessels were injured. One arm swelled diffusely and hurt, breaking into several holes discharging pus, yet swelling persisted. Treatment lasted two years before swelling subsided and wounds closed, but fingers remained contracted. (Note: After acupuncture/moxibustion, any labor will definitely cause swelling and pain.)
An elderly man had Yin Da Bei (back carbuncle), stiff as a plate, unchanged skin color. Garlic was mashed and applied, followed by moxibustion twice. Although the base shrank, the head remained hard and black. Knife piercing made a cracking sound, indicating muscle stiffness like stone, a karmic retribution syndrome. After consulting several physicians, he died.
A woman traveled far in winter snow and waded across a river barefoot. Yin-cold pathogens forced inward, causing direct transmission Cold Damage (Zhizhong Shanghan). Body cold, head hot, painful, no sweat, whole body cyanotic, six pulses sunken and hidden. No prescription was given; she died in three days.
