水气病有十种,不可治愈的有五种:第一,嘴唇黑,伤肝;第二,锁骨窝平陷,伤心;第三,肚脐突出,伤脾;

Having deficiency-cold in the Lower Jiao, continuous loss of fluids, and shortness of breath nearing collapse.
Having damage from deficiency-cold in the Lower Jiao, or seeing blood after defecation (Jin Xue / proximal bleeding), regardless of whether diarrhea is present.
Having damage from deficiency-cold in the Lower Jiao, or seeing blood before defecation (Yuan Xue / distal bleeding), regardless of whether diarrhea is present, often triggered by fatigue and cold exposure.

Having undergone vomiting, purging, and sweating, yet urination becomes excessive, or having clear undigested food in stool, interior cold with exterior heat, faint pulse nearly imperceptible, or fever and aversion to cold.
For all cases of Huoluan, gentle warming and nourishment are essential; if cold, it leads to generalized muscle cramps. It is best to fast for one day, then consume small amounts of congee for three days. After three days, resume normal diet and rest according to condition. Avoid mixed foods for seven days to nourish Spleen Qi.
Having Huoluan with vomiting and diarrhea, abdominal distension, indigestion, and heart/abdominal pain.
Having Huoluan where vomiting and diarrhea have ceased, but body pain persists.
Having Huoluan with muscle cramps, cold sweat, and vomiting.
Having Huoluan where vomiting and diarrhea have stopped, but sweating and cold extremities persist, limb spasms are unresolved, and the pulse is faint and nearly imperceptible.
Having Huoluan where heat persists despite taking Lizhong Tang (Regulate the Middle Decoction) and Sishun San (Four Smooth Powder).
Having women with Huoluan, vomiting, and regurgitation of saliva; strictly avoid purgative methods.
Having elderly patients with Huoluan, emaciation, cold qi causing nausea, indigestion, empty abdominal fullness, spasms, shortness of breath, vomiting, cold extremities, and mental restlessness.

Having Huoluan with unceasing profuse diarrhea.
Having Huoluan where drinking leads immediately to dry heaving.
Having previously taken Shi Ren (mineral-based pills), then taking various hot medicines for Huoluan vomiting/diarrhea; although vomiting/diarrhea stop, the patient becomes deficient, with mental restlessness, hot hands and feet, dry mouth, thirst, vomiting, coma, and rapid/tight pulse.
Having residual toxins after an epidemic febrile disease, leading to Huoluan with persistent vomiting/diarrhea and fever, feeling as if the chest and heart are splitting.
Huoluan is always caused by dietary indiscretion, not by ghosts or spirits. It results from overeating meat paste, consuming dairy, various seafood and land animals, sleeping on cold mats, and drinking excessive cold beverages, causing food stagnation in the Stomach. I believe this description applies mainly to the wealthy; for the poor, melons, plums, and raw/cold foods also cause this.
Patients with Huoluan must avoid rice drink; rice in the Stomach causes incessant vomiting. Instead, give Houpo Genkin Drink (Pueraria and Magnolia Drink). If using Winter Melon Leaf juice, only moisten the throat, do not give much. If vomiting occurs upon taking decoctions, wait until vomiting stops. If the pulse is absent and blocked, use Guizhi combined with Gegen for a drink. For vomiting/diarrhea with mental restlessness, internal heat, no sweating, no cramps, and rapid/tight pulse, use Xijiao combined with Gegen for a drink. For unceasing vomiting/diarrhea, fever, mental restlessness, and thirst, a small amount of rice flour juice is best. If it continues, give Gegen Qimai Drink (Pueraria and Shepherd's Purse Drink).
Women with Huoluan and vomiting.
Huoluan with cold extremities, less vomiting but more retching.
Long-standing Huoluan, for preparation before long travel.
Wan formula for never-recurrent Huoluan.
Heat in the middle, Huoluan with violent diarrhea, mental restlessness, rapid pulse, desire for cold water.
Yin and Yang Qi are obstructed and rebellious; Yang Qi desires to ascend, Yin Qi desires to descend. Yin-Yang separation leads to vomiting and diarrhea, headache as if breaking, and joints feeling as if dislocating.
Many people live recklessly. In their prime, they do not guard themselves, indulging in desires and sexual activity. As they age, Kidney Qi becomes exhausted, and myriad diseases arise. Frequent use of mineral powders exhausts True Qi, leaving Mineral Qi isolated, causing only depletion, dry/chapped lips, spontaneous seminal emission, red/yellow urine, and hard/dry stools. Food consumed transforms entirely into urine. All this is due to immoderate sexual activity.
Heat binding in the Middle Jiao forms hardness. Heat in the Lower Jiao causes hematuria, leading to strangury and obstruction.
Qi Strangury: difficult urination, astringency, constant dribbling. Stone Strangury: pain in the urethra, inability to pass urine. Paste Strangury: urine flows out like paste. Fatigue Strangury: triggered by labor/fatigue, pain radiating to the Qi Chong point area. Heat Strangury: triggered by heat, severe cases involve blood in urine.
Heat binding in the Lower Jiao causes red/yellow, difficult, frequent, scanty urination, penile pain, or blood discharge. Residual heat after Warm Disease, wind exposure after Huoluan, excessive alcohol, sexual fatigue, walking in heat, or cold drinks suppressing heat can bind heat in the Lower Jiao causing strangury, or move mineral heat causing Guan Ge, hard lower abdomen, and bladder distension like a bucket. All such stranguries respond immediately to treatment.
Dietary taboos recorded as follows:
Mourning periods, postpartum, music/entertainment, all fish, all meats, noisy play, sexual intercourse, sour/slippery foods, raw/cold foods, garlic, sticky foods, rice/beans, oily/greasy foods.
All above are taboo; do not eat nor exert mental effort. Those not prohibited are listed under their respective formulas. If relapse occurs due to non-compliance, even if cured initially, subsequent relapses are incurable.
Postpartum women drinking water that does not digest immediately, causing leakage in the Sanjiao, difficult urination, accumulation, and flow into meridians.
For all edema diseases, abdominal fluid discharge is taboo; death occurs within one month if this happens. Greatly taboo.
There are ten types of edema; five are incurable: First, black lips indicates Liver damage; Second, flat supraclavicular fossa indicates Heart damage; Third, protruding umbilicus indicates Spleen damage.
Chronic asthma leading to edema.
Edema with large abdomen and thin limbs, hard abdomen like stone, slight exertion causes leg swelling, slight eating/bowel movement causes shortness of breath; this is a lifelong disease. If uncured, take Dan...
Alcoholics with deficiency-heat, drinking cold water in the wind, abdominal swelling, and genital fullness.
Edema with generalized massive swelling, migratory swelling, untreatable by hundred medicines, nearing death.
Massive swelling, eyes closed unwilling to open, shortness of breath nearing collapse.
New or old edema in men and women, with sudden wind entering the abdomen. Postpartum women going to toilet, wind enters viscera, abdomen feels like a horse whip. Shortness of breath and coughing during inhalation/exhalation.
