论曰目生 肉者，由脾肺不利，风热乘之，其候或痒或痛，赤瘀而烂，壅热既久。息肉

治风赤眼 肉痒痛，点眼黄连膏方
黄连去须 黄柏（去粗皮密炙） 升麻 蕤仁（去皮各一两） 细辛（去苗叶三分） 石

上八味，除龙脑石胆外，粗捣筛，以水二升，煎至一升，滤去滓，两遍澄清，次下白蜜
一两，煎令稀稠得所，后入石胆龙脑搅匀，内瓷合中密封，每点如黍米大。
治眼生翳膜赤脉 肉，隐涩痒痛有泪，通神膏方
蜜（四两） 青盐（一字） 麝香（一字） 乳香（半两） 砂（半字） 当归（切

上八味合研细，青竹筒内煮半日，绵滤去滓，瓷合内收，每点眼了，瞑目少时，以温汤
洗，翳膜等并退下。
治风热、眼生 肉，冲贯黑睛，及有花翳，宜点真珠散方
真珠末（一分） 龙脑（半分） 琥珀（一分） 朱砂（半分） 砂（小豆大）
上五味，同细研如粉，每日三五度，以铜箸取少许，点大 上。

上七味，除龙脑外，以淡浆水一大盏，古钱二十文，同内瓷瓶中封闭，悬于净舍内，经
二七日，绵滤去滓，入龙脑在药中，每日三五度，以铜箸取少许点之。
黄连膏方
黄连（去须捣二两） 竹叶（二握净洗切） 枣（一两焙干为末）
上三味，先将竹叶，以水三盏，煎至一盏半，去竹叶，下黄连枣末，入白蜜半合，煎至
一盏，绵滤去滓，重煎如稀饧，内瓷瓶中，每以箸点目 头，日夜三五次。
治肝肺热盛，目赤生 肉。胡黄连点眼方
胡黄连（去须锉如豆大一两） 密陀僧（研半两） 蜜（四两重汤煮）
上三味，先将黄连于蜜内，浸一宿，次日入密陀僧末和匀，用白瓷碗盛，却用黑豆一斗
，于锅内以水煮，候热却将药碗放在豆上，勿令豆汁入内，候豆熟为度，取出用绵滤过，入
龙脑半钱匕，以银石器盛，三日后点眼，不拘时。
治目生 肉，点眼艾熏散方
蕤仁（去皮研细一两） 腻粉（一钱） 牛酥（一两） 熟艾（如鸡子许大）
上四味，将三味入乳钵中，研令极细摊开，次取艾火烧，将乳钵和药复烟熏之，候烧尽
艾烟，以槐木椎细研，令烟气匀入，然后少少点眼 ，日三五度。
治目生 肉，风翳障，点眼杏仁膏方
杏仁（汤浸去皮尖双仁研如膏半两） 黄连（去须半两锉） 青盐（半两） 腻粉（一

上四味，先以水一盏半，煎杏仁黄连至半盏，滤去滓，入盐及腻粉，更煎五七沸，入合
中盛候冷，每日点三次。
治风毒卒生 肉欲满，及生浮膜，点眼贝齿散方
贝齿（烧研一分） 铅丹（再研一分）
上二味，更同入乳钵中，研令极细，内瓷合中盛，每以铜箸点少许。
治一切眼疾，昏涩热泪，赤脉 肉，遮蔽光明，及风痛痒不止，乳香散方
乳香（研二钱） 铜绿（研） 马牙硝（研各一两） 龙脑（研半钱） 轻粉（研半钱）
上五味，各别研了 更同研匀，每用半钱匕，新汲井水调洗之。

蜀椒（去目及闭口者炒出汗一两） 熟干地黄（洗切焙三两）
上二味，捣罗为细末，炼蜜和丸，如梧桐子大，每服二十丸，米饮下，食后临卧服。
治目生 肉，或痒或痛不可忍。白龙散方
马牙硝（光精者一两） 龙脑（一字）
上二味，用纸一张，裹迭牙硝按实，常在着肉衣下，养一百二十日为度，取出细研如粉
，取四钱龙脑同研令细，不计年岁深远，眼内或生翳膜，渐渐昏暗，远视不明，即瞳仁破散
者，并可治之，每用两米大点之。
治目生 肉涩痛，鲫鱼贴方
鲫鱼（鲜者）
上一味，去皮骨、取肉一片，中央开一窍。正贴眼上，日三五度易之。
治风毒攻眼，渐生 肉，碜涩疼痛，甘草汤方

上二味合研细如膏，以绵缠箸头，点 肉上，不过四五遍、即瘥。
【论述】眼睛长出息肉（指眼睑或球结膜上增生的肉质赘生物），是由于脾肺功能失调，风热之邪侵袭所致。其症状表现为眼部或痒或痛，红肿瘀滞且溃烂，若壅积的热邪日久不散，息肉便会逐渐增长。轻则侵犯黑睛（角膜）和轮郭（巩膜/虹膜边缘），重则覆盖瞳孔。治疗不可迟缓，虽然使用钩割、熨烫、烙法等外科手段自有其规范，但对于祛风清热类药物，难道可以偏废不用吗？
治疗眼睛长息肉侵犯黑睛，即使外障已通过钩割、熨烫、烙法处理过，也适宜服用此方：除风汤方

治疗心肺风热上冲导致眼睛长息肉：羚羊角汤方

以上五味药，粗捣筛碎，每次服用五钱匕，用水一盏半，煎至一盏，滤去药渣，饭后服用，每日两次。
治疗眼睛长息肉，钩割手术后，适宜点用清凉散方。
真珠 琥珀 丹砂（各一两） 龙脑（半两）
以上四味药，分别细研后，再混合研磨均匀，用不渗水的容器盛装，按常规方法点眼。
治疗眼睛长息肉，适宜服用此方：通明饮方
羚羊角（镑片） 地骨皮（锉碎） 山栀子仁 柴胡（去苗，各一两） 蔓荆实 芍药 蕤仁（各三分） 枳壳（去瓤麸炒半两）
以上八味药，粗捣筛碎，每次服用三钱匕，用水一盏，煎至七分，饭后滤去药渣，温服，每日两次。
治疗眼睛长息肉，适宜常服此方：蕤仁丸方

治疗眼受风热，生出赤脉息肉：大黄丸方
大黄（锉碎炒制） 黄芩（去黑心，各二两） 人参 地骨皮（洗去土焙干） 决明子（微炒） 防风（去叉） 石胆 地肤子 黄连（去须） 甘草（炙锉） 车前子（各一两） 兔肝（三具洗净切块炙干） 萤火虫（一首枚，去翼）
以上十三味药，捣碎罗筛成细末，用鲤鱼胆汁拌合为剂，再捣三五百杵，使其均匀，制成梧桐子大小的丸剂。每次服用二十丸，饭后温水送下，临睡前再服一次。
治疗目赤疼痛，息肉满急：玄参散方
玄参 甘菊花（择选） 决明子（炒） 苦参（锉碎） 大黄（锉碎炒制） 车前子 升麻 枳壳（去瓤麸炒） 防风（去叉） 黄连（去须） 山栀子仁（各二两）
以上十一味药，捣碎罗筛成细散，每次服用三钱匕，饭后用米汤调服，临睡前再服一次。
治疗眼睛长息肉侵犯黑睛，以及赘肉生疮、晕膜赤红：决明散方

以上九味药，捣碎罗筛成细散，每次服用三钱匕，饭后用温浆水调下，临睡前再服一次。

以上十一味药，粗捣筛碎，每次服用五钱匕，用水一盏半，煎至一盏，滤去药渣，投入芒硝末半钱匕，放温后饭后服用，临睡前再服。如果腹部脏腑腹泻，则去掉芒硝。
治疗热毒息肉生疮翳：升麻丸方
升麻 黄芩（去黑心） 车前子 决明子（微炒） 茺蔚子 玄参 龙胆 防风（去叉） 生干地黄（焙干） 山栀子仁 甘草（炙锉） 地肤子（各一两）
以上十二味药，捣碎罗筛成细末，炼蜜制成梧桐子大小的丸剂。每次服用二十丸，饭后用温浆水送下，临睡前再服，可加至三十丸。
治疗息肉侵犯黑睛：防风汤方
防风（去叉） 桔梗（炒） 黄芩（细锉） 五味子 细辛（去苗叶） 茺蔚子 大黄（锉碎炒制，各一两）
以上七味药，粗捣筛碎，每次服用五钱匕，用水一盏半，煎至一盏，滤去药渣放温，饭后及临睡前各服一次。
治疗息肉粘睛，热痛：犀角丸方
犀角（镑片一两） 人参（一两半） 白茯苓（去黑皮） 芍药 羌活（去芦头一两半） 细辛（去细叶） 玄参（各一两） 山芋（二两）
以上八味药，捣碎罗筛成细末，炼蜜制成丸剂，如梧桐子大小。每次服用二十丸，空腹时米汤送下，临睡前再服。
治疗一切眼内外翳膜遮障，碜涩疼痛，羞明怕日，息肉攀睛，以及冷热泪：拨云散方
楮实（微炒一两） 荆芥穗（半两） 甘草（炙锉一分）
以上三味药，捣碎罗筛成细散，每次服用二钱匕，用腊茶调下，饭后及临睡前服用。
治疗风赤眼，息肉痒痛，点眼黄连膏方
黄连去须 黄柏（去粗皮密炙） 升麻 蕤仁（去皮，各一两） 细辛（去苗叶三分） 石胆（末半钱，研极细） 龙脑（研细一两） 蜜（一两）
以上八味药，除龙脑、石胆外，粗捣筛碎，用水二升，煎至一升，滤去药渣，澄清两次，然后加入白蜜一两，煎至稀稠适度，最后放入石胆、龙脑搅匀，装入瓷盒中密封。每次点如黍米大小。
治疗眼生翳膜赤脉息肉，隐涩痒痛有泪：通神膏方
蜜（四两） 青盐（一字） 麝香（一字） 乳香（半两） 砂（半字） 当归（切焙为末半钱） 白矾（飞过半字） 黄连（去须为末一钱）
以上八味药，合研细，在青竹筒内煮半天，用绵布滤去药渣，收存于瓷盒中。每次点眼后，闭目片刻，用温水清洗，翳膜等即可退下。
治疗风热、眼生息肉，冲贯黑睛，以及有花翳，适宜点用真珠散方
真珠末（一分） 龙脑（半分） 琥珀（一分） 朱砂（半分） 砂（小豆大）
以上五味药，共同细研如粉，每日三到五次，用铜箸取少许，点在大眦（眼角）上。
治疗肝脏壅热，目中生息肉，冲贯黑睛，赤痛不止，适宜点用黄连煎方
黄连（一分捣罗为末研细） 白矾灰（一分） 腻粉（一钱） 井盐（半两研细） 砂（一钱研细） 胡黄连（半两捣罗为末研细） 白龙脑（一分细研）
以上七味药，除龙脑外，用淡浆水一大盏，古钱二十文，一同放入瓷瓶中封闭，悬挂在洁净的屋内，经过二十七天，用绵布滤去药渣，将龙脑放入药中。每日三到五次，用铜箸取少许点眼。
黄连膏方
黄连（去须捣二两） 竹叶（二握净洗切） 枣（一两焙干为末）
以上三味药，先将竹叶用水三盏，煎至一盏半，去竹叶，下黄连、枣末，加入白蜜半合，煎至一盏，用绵布滤去药渣，重新煎至如稀饴糖状，装入瓷瓶中。每次用筷子点眼头，日夜三到五次。
治疗肝肺热盛，目赤生息肉：胡黄连点眼方
胡黄连（去须锉如豆大一两） 密陀僧（研半两） 蜜（四两，隔水煮）
以上三味药，先将黄连在蜜中浸泡一夜，次日加入密陀僧末调和均匀，用白瓷碗盛装，再用黑豆一斗，在锅内水煮，待热度适中后将药碗放在豆上，不要让豆汁进入药碗，等到豆子煮熟为止，取出用绵布过滤，加入龙脑半钱匕，用银石器盛装，三天后点眼，不拘时间。
治疗目生息肉，点眼艾熏散方
蕤仁（去皮研细一两） 腻粉（一钱） 牛酥（一两） 熟艾（如鸡子许大）
以上四味药，将前三味放入乳钵中，研至极细摊开，其次取艾火烧，将乳钵和药复盖在烟上熏之，等到艾烧尽艾烟，用槐木椎细研，使烟气均匀渗入，然后少量点眼，每日三到五次。
治疗目生息肉，风翳障，点眼杏仁膏方
杏仁（汤浸去皮尖双仁研如膏半两） 黄连（去须半两锉碎） 青盐（半两） 腻粉（一钱匕）
以上四味药，先用水一盏半，煎杏仁、黄连至半盏，滤去药渣，加入盐及腻粉，再煎五七沸，装入容器中候冷，每日点三次。
治疗风毒卒生息肉欲满，及生浮膜，点眼贝齿散方
贝齿（烧研一分） 铅丹（再研一分）
以上二味药，再同入乳钵中，研令极细，装入瓷盒中盛装，每次用铜箸点少许。
治疗一切眼疾，昏涩热泪，赤脉息肉，遮蔽光明，及风痛痒不止：乳香散方
乳香（研二钱） 铜绿（研） 马牙硝（研，各一两） 龙脑（研半钱） 轻粉（研半钱）
以上五味药，各自别研后再共同研匀，每次用半钱匕，新汲井水调洗患处。

蜀椒（去目及闭口者炒出汗一两） 熟干地黄（洗切焙三两）
以上二味药，捣碎罗筛成细末，炼蜜和丸，如梧桐子大小。每次服用二十丸，米汤送下，饭后及临睡前服用。
治疗目生息肉，或痒或痛不可忍：白龙散方
马牙硝（光精者一两） 龙脑（一字）
以上二味药，用纸一张，包裹迭压牙硝按实，常在着肉衣下，养一百二十日为度，取出细研如粉，取四钱龙脑同研令细。不计年岁深远，眼内或生翳膜，渐渐昏暗，远视不明，即瞳仁破散者，均可治之。每次用两米大点之。
治疗目生息肉涩痛：鲫鱼贴方
鲫鱼（鲜者）
以上一味药，去皮骨、取肉一片，中央开一窍。正贴眼上，日三五度更换。
治疗风毒攻眼，渐生息肉，碜涩疼痛：甘草汤方
甘草（炙锉） 防风（去叉） 羚羊角（镑） 羌活（去芦头） 生干地黄（焙） 细辛（去苗叶） 菊花 玄参 杏仁（去皮尖双仁炒令黄） 地肤子 栀子仁 青葙子 当归（切焙） 决明子 蜀椒（去目并合口炒出汗，各一两）
以上十五味药，粗捣筛碎，每次服用五钱匕，用水一盏半，煎至一盏，滤去药渣，饭后温服。
治疗目生息肉，或痒或痛，息肉渐长，侵复瞳仁，点眼杏仁膏方

以上二味药合研细如膏，以绵缠箸头，点息肉上，不过四五遍，即痊愈。
[Discussion] The condition of growing fleshy polyps (referring to fleshy proliferations on the eyelid or bulbar conjunctiva) in the eye is caused by dysfunction of the Spleen and Lung, with Wind-Heat pathogenic factors invading. The symptoms manifest as itching or pain in the eye, redness, swelling, stasis, and ulceration. If the stagnant Heat pathogen persists for a long time, the polyp will gradually grow. Mild cases invade the black cornea (Heijing) and the limbus (Lun), while severe cases cover the pupil. Treatment must not be delayed. Although surgical methods such as hooking, cutting, cauterization, and moxibustion have their own standards, can we neglect the use of herbs that dispel Wind and clear Heat?
For treating eye polyps invading the cornea, even if the external obstruction has been treated with hooking, cutting, cauterization, and moxibustion, it is still appropriate to take this prescription: Chufeng Tang (Wind-Dispelling Decoction).
Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix, processed to remove forks), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix, sliced), Chongweizi (Leonuri Fructus, each 2 liang), Jiegeng (Platycodonis Radix), Wuweizi (Schisandrae Fructus), Xixin (Asari Radix et Rhizoma, processed to remove seedlings and leaves), Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma, sliced and stir-fried, each 1 liang).
The above seven herbs are coarsely crushed and sieved. Take 2 qianbi per dose, add 1 zhan of water, decoct until 0.7 zhan remains, filter out the dregs, and take warm after meals, twice daily.

For treating Heart and Lung Wind-Heat rushing upward causing eye polyps: Lingyangjiao Tang (Antelope Horn Decoction).
Lingyangjiao (Saigae Tataricae Cornu, shaved), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix, cleaned of black heart), Chaihu (Bupleuri Radix, processed to remove seedlings), Shengma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma, each 3 fen), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, raw and sliced, 1 liang).
The above five herbs are coarsely crushed and sieved. Take 5 qianbi per dose, add 1.5 zhan of water, decoct until 1 zhan remains, filter out the dregs, and take after meals, twice daily.
For treating eye polyps, after hooking and cutting surgery, it is appropriate to apply Qingliang San (Cooling Clearing Powder).
Zhenzhu (Pearl), Hupo (Amber), Dansha (Cinnabaris, each 1 liang), Longnao (Borneolum Syntheticum, 0.5 liang).
The above four herbs are finely ground separately, then mixed and ground uniformly. Store in a non-leaky container and apply to the eyes as usual.

Ruiren (Pruni Semen, 3 liang), Shaoyao (Paeoniae Radix), Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix, processed to remove forks, each 3 fen), Chongweizi (Leonuri Fructus), Qingxiangzi (Celosiae Semen), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix, cleaned of rot), Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma, cleaned of whiskers), Shijueming (Haliotidis Concha, each 1 liang 1 fen), Zhike (Aurantii Fructus, pith removed, bran-fried), Gui (Cinnamomi Ramulus, bark removed, each 1 liang).
The above ten herbs are crushed, sieved into fine powder, and made into pills the size of paulownia seeds using jujube paste. Take 20-30 pills before meals with yellow wine, twice daily.
For treating eyes affected by Wind-Heat, generating red vessel polyps: Dahuang Wan (Rhubarb Pill).
Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma, sliced and stir-fried), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix, cleaned of black heart, each 2 liang), Renshen (Ginseng Radix), Digupi (Lycii Cortex, washed, soil removed, dried), Juemingzi (Cassiae Semen, slightly stir-fried), Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix, processed to remove forks), Shidan (Melanterium), Difuzi (Kochiae Scopariae Herba), Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma, cleaned of whiskers), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, honey-fried and sliced), Cheqianzi (Plantaginis Semen, each 1 liang), Tuogan (Leporis Hepatis, three pieces, washed, cut, and dried), Yinghuochong (Lampyridis Insectum, one piece, wings removed).
The above thirteen herbs are crushed, sieved into fine powder, mixed with Carp Bile, pounded 300-500 times to ensure uniformity, and made into pills the size of paulownia seeds. Take 20 pills per dose with warm water after meals, and again before bed.

The above nine herbs are crushed, sieved into fine powder. Take 3 qianbi per dose, mix with warm fermented grain water after meals, and take again before bed.
For treating red painful eyes and growing polyps causing tightness, it is appropriate to take Xiegan Tang (Draining Liver Decoction).
Shengma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma), Ruiren (Pruni Semen, peeled), Cheqianzi (Plantaginis Semen), Qianhu (Peucedani Radix, rhizome head removed), Qinpi (Fraxini Cortex, rough bark removed), Xixin (Asari Radix et Rhizoma, processed to remove seedlings and leaves), Juemingzi (Cassiae Semen, slightly stir-fried), Shanzhizi Ren (Gardeniae Fructus Semen), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix, cleaned of black heart), Ku Zhuye (Bitter Bamboo Leaf, each 2 liang), Ganjuhua (Chrysanthemi Flos, selected, 1.5 liang).
The above eleven herbs are coarsely crushed and sieved. Take 5 qianbi per dose, add 1.5 zhan of water, decoct until 1 zhan remains, filter out the dregs, add Banxia (Mangxiao, Mirabilite) half a qianbi, let cool, take after meals, and again before bed. If abdominal organs become loose/diarrhea, remove Mangxiao.
For treating Heat-Toxin polyps generating sores and nebula: Shengma Wan (Cimicifuga Pill).
Shengma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix, cleaned of black heart), Cheqianzi (Plantaginis Semen), Juemingzi (Cassiae Semen, slightly stir-fried), Chongweizi (Leonuri Fructus), Xuanshen (Scrophulariae Radix), Longdan (Gentianae Radix), Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix, processed to remove forks), Sheng Gan Dihuang (Rehmanniae Radix, dried and baked), Shanzhizi Ren (Gardeniae Fructus Semen), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, honey-fried and sliced), Difuzi (Kochiae Scopariae Herba, each 1 liang).
The above twelve herbs are crushed, sieved into fine powder, and made into pills the size of paulownia seeds using refined honey. Take 20 pills per dose with warm fermented grain water after meals, and again before bed; dosage can be increased to 30 pills.
For treating polyps invading the cornea: Fangfeng Tang (Saposhnikovia Decoction).
Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix, processed to remove forks), Jiegeng (Platycodonis Radix, stir-fried), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix, finely sliced), Wuweizi (Schisandrae Fructus), Xixin (Asari Radix et Rhizoma, processed to remove seedlings and leaves), Chongweizi (Leonuri Fructus), Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma, sliced and stir-fried, each 1 liang).
The above seven herbs are coarsely crushed and sieved. Take 5 qianbi per dose, add 1.5 zhan of water, decoct until 1 zhan remains, filter out the dregs and let cool. Take one dose after meals and one dose before bed.
For treating polyps adhering to the eyeball with hot pain: Xijiao Wan (Rhinoceros Horn Pill).
Xijiao (Rhinocerotis Cornu, shaved, 1 liang), Renshen (Ginseng Radix, 1.5 liang), Bai Fuling (Poria, black skin removed), Shaoyao (Paeoniae Radix), Qianghuo (Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix, rhizome head removed, 1.5 liang), Xixin (Asari Radix et Rhizoma, fine leaves removed), Xuanshen (Scrophulariae Radix, each 1 liang), Shanyu (Corni Fructus, 2 liang).
The above eight herbs are crushed, sieved into fine powder, and made into pills the size of paulownia seeds using refined honey. Take 20 pills per dose with rice drink on an empty stomach, and again before bed.
For treating all internal and external eye nebulae obstructions, gritty pain, photophobia, polyps climbing the cornea, and cold/hot tears: Boyun San (Parting Clouds Powder).
Chushi (Broussonetiae Fructus, slightly stir-fried, 1 liang), Jingjie Sui (Schizonepetae Spica, 0.5 liang), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, honey-fried and sliced, 1 fen).
The above three herbs are crushed, sieved into fine powder. Take 2 qianbi per dose, mix with aged tea, and take after meals and before bed.
For treating Wind-Red Eyes with polyp itching and pain, apply Huanglian Gao (Coptis Ointment):
Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma, cleaned of whiskers), Huangbai (Phellodendri Cortex, rough bark removed, densely stir-fried), Shengma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma), Ruiren (Pruni Semen, peeled, each 1 liang), Xixin (Asari Radix et Rhizoma, processed to remove seedlings and leaves, 3 fen), Shidan (Melanterium, half a qianbi, ground extremely fine), Longnao (Borneolum Syntheticum, ground fine, 1 liang), Mi (Honey, 1 liang).
The above eight herbs, except Longnao and Shidan, are coarsely crushed and sieved. Add 2 sheng of water, decoct until 1 sheng remains, filter out dregs, clarify twice, then add 1 liang of white honey, decoct until proper consistency. Finally, add Shidan and Longnao, mix well, store in a sealed porcelain jar. Apply the size of a millet seed each time.
For treating eye nebulae, red vessels, polyps, hidden dryness, itching, pain, and tearing: Tongshen Gao (Spirit-Unblocking Ointment).
Mi (Honey, 4 liang), Qingyan (Green Salt, one character), Shexiang (Moschus, one character), Ruxiang (Olibanum, 0.5 liang), Sha (Arsenic Trioxide, half a character), Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix, cut, baked, ground, half a qian), Baifan (Alumen, purified, half a character), Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma, cleaned of whiskers, ground, 1 qian).
The above eight herbs are combined and ground finely. Boil in a green bamboo tube for half a day, filter through cotton cloth to remove dregs, and store in a porcelain jar. After applying to the eyes, close them for a short while, then wash with warm water; the nebulae will recede.
For treating Wind-Heat, eye polyps penetrating the black cornea, and flower-like nebulae, it is appropriate to apply Zhenzhu San (Pearl Powder).
Zhenzhu mo (Pearl Powder, 1 fen), Longnao (Borneolum Syntheticum, 0.5 fen), Hupo (Amber, 1 fen), Zhusha (Cinnabaris, 0.5 fen), Sha (Arsenic Trioxide, size of a soybean).
The above five herbs are ground together into a fine powder. Three to five times daily, use a copper stick to take a small amount and apply to the outer canthus.
For treating Liver Heat stagnation, polyps growing in the eye, penetrating the black cornea, with unceasing red pain, it is appropriate to apply Huanglian Jian (Coptis Decoction).
Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma, 1 fen, crushed, sieved, and ground), Bai Fan Hui (Ash of Alumen, 1 fen), Nifen (Calomelas, 1 qian), Jingyan (Well Salt, 0.5 liang, ground), Sha (Arsenic Trioxide, 1 qian, ground), Huhuanglian (Picrorhizae Rhizoma, 0.5 liang, crushed, sieved, and ground), Bailongnao (White Borneol, 1 fen, finely ground).
The above seven herbs, except Longnao, are placed in a porcelain bottle with 1 zhan of light fermented grain water and twenty ancient coins, sealed, and hung in a clean room for twenty-seven days. Filter through cotton cloth, add Longnao to the medicine. Three to five times daily, use a copper stick to take a small amount and apply.
Huanglian Gao (Coptis Ointment) Formula:
Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma, cleaned of whiskers, crushed, 2 liang), Zhuye (Bamboo Leaf, two handfuls, washed and cut cleanly), Zao (Jujube, 1 liang, baked and ground).
The above three herbs: First, decoct Zhuye in 3 zhan of water until 1.5 zhan remains. Remove Zhuye, add Huanglian and Zao powder, add half a he of white honey, decoct until 1 zhan remains. Filter through cotton cloth, re-decoct until like thin syrup. Store in a porcelain bottle. Apply to the corner of the eye with a chopstick, three to five times day and night.
For treating Liver and Lung Excess Heat, red eyes generating polyps: Huhuanglian Eye-Drop Formula.
Huhuanglian (Picrorhizae Rhizoma, cleaned of whiskers, sliced to bean size, 1 liang), Miduoseng (Litharge, ground, 0.5 liang), Mi (Honey, 4 liang, double-boiled).
The above three herbs: Soak Huanglian in honey overnight. The next day, add Miduoseng powder and mix well. Place in a white porcelain bowl. Put one dou of black beans in a pot, boil with water. When hot but not boiling, place the medicine bowl on top of the beans, ensuring no bean juice enters the bowl. Wait until the beans are cooked. Remove, filter through cotton cloth, add half a qianbi of Longnao, store in silver or earthenware vessel. Apply to eyes after three days, at any time.
For treating eye polyps, apply Ai Xun San (Moxa Smoke Powder):
Ruiren (Pruni Semen, peeled and ground fine, 1 liang), Nifen (Calomelas, 1 qian), Niusu (Cow Butter, 1 liang), Shuai Ai (Prepared Moxa, size of a chicken egg).
The above four herbs: Put the first three in a mortar, grind extremely fine and spread out. Then burn the moxa, covering the mortar and medicine with smoke. When the moxa is burned out, grind with a locust wood pestle to ensure smoke penetrates evenly. Apply sparingly to the eyes, three to five times daily.
For treating eye polyps, Wind-Nebula Obstruction, apply Xingren Gao (Apricot Kernel Ointment):
Xingren (Apricot Kernel, soaked in water, peel and tip removed, double-kernel, ground into paste, 0.5 liang), Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma, cleaned of whiskers, 0.5 liang, sliced), Qingyan (Green Salt, 0.5 liang), Nifen (Calomelas, 1 qianbi).
The above four herbs: First, decoct Xingren and Huanglian in 1.5 zhan of water until 0.5 zhan remains. Filter out dregs, add salt and Nifen, decoct for five to seven boils. Store in a container to cool. Apply three times daily.
For treating sudden growth of Wind-Toxin polyps nearing fullness, and floating membranes, apply Beichi San (Shell Tooth Powder):
Beichi (Concha Margaritifera, burnt and ground, 1 fen), Qiandan (Minium, ground again, 1 fen).
The above two herbs: Grind together in a mortar until extremely fine. Store in a porcelain jar. Apply a small amount with a copper stick each time.
For treating all eye diseases, blurry dryness, hot tears, red vessel polyps, obscuring vision, and unceasing Wind-pain/itching: Ruxiang San (Olibanum Powder).
Ruxiang (Olibanum, ground, 2 qian), Tonglv (Malachite, ground), Mayaxiao (Mirabilite, ground, each 1 liang), Longnao (Borneolum Syntheticum, ground, half a qian), Qingfen (Calomelas, ground, half a qian).
The above five herbs: Grind separately, then mix and grind uniformly. Use half a qianbi, mix with fresh well water to wash the area.
For treating all internal and external nebulae obstructions, gritty pain, photophobia, polyps climbing the cornea, and cold/hot tears: Jiaohuang Wan (Pepper Yellow Pill).
Shujiao (Sichuan Pepper, remove eyes and closed ones, stir-fry until sweat appears, 1 liang), Shu Gan Dihuang (Rehmanniae Radix, prepared, washed, cut, baked, 3 liang).
The above two herbs: Crush, sieve into fine powder, mix with refined honey to make pills the size of paulownia seeds. Take 20 pills per dose with rice drink, after meals and before bed.
For treating eye polyps with unbearable itching or pain: Bailong San (White Dragon Powder).
Mayaxiao (Mirabilite, pure and bright, 1 liang), Longnao (Borneolum Syntheticum, one character).
The above two herbs: Wrap Mayaxiao tightly in paper, press solid, keep under clothing for 120 days. Take out, grind fine like powder. Mix with 4 qian of Longnao. Regardless of how long the disease has persisted, if nebulae grow, vision dims, far vision is unclear, or the pupil breaks apart, this can treat it. Apply the size of two rice grains each time.
For treating eye polyps with gritty pain: Jiyu Tie (Crucian Carp Paste):
Jiyu (Crucian Carp, fresh).
One herb: Remove skin and bones, take a slice of meat, make a hole in the center. Apply directly to the eye, change three to five times daily.
For treating Wind-Toxin attacking the eyes, gradual polyp growth, gritty pain: Gancao Tang (Licorice Decoction).

The above fifteen herbs are coarsely crushed and sieved. Take 5 qianbi per dose, add 1.5 zhan of water, decoct until 1 zhan remains, filter out dregs, and take warm after meals.
For treating eye polyps with itching or pain, gradual polyp growth covering the pupil, apply Xingren Gao (Apricot Kernel Ointment):
Xingren (Apricot Kernel, soaked in water, peel and tip removed, double-kernel, 1 fen), Nifen (Calomelas, half a qian).
The above two herbs: Grind together finely into a paste. Wrap a chopstick tip with cotton, apply to the polyp. No more than four or five applications will result in recovery.
