[Discussion] The manifestations of wind-toxin rushing to the eyes include: redness and swelling of the eyelids, unbearable itching with a sensation of oppression, dull pain and dryness with photophobia, alternating flow of tears and ocular discharge, and exacerbation upon exposure to wind. This is caused by the spleen and lungs being invaded by wind-pathogen, leading to dysfunction of the Liver channel. If left untreated, the wind-pathogen will become rampant and transform into heat, often resulting in continuous redness and ulceration of the eyelids. It is advisable to promptly wash away the stasis and ulcers, clean the skin of the eyelids, and simultaneously administer herbs that dispel wind and calm the Liver.
