The *Qianjin Yifang* (Supplement to the Thousand Golden Formulas) treats white tumors (Bai Liu).
First, scratch and scrape the area vigorously with fingernails, tie it tightly with a rope, and it will heal. Alternatively, collect water from the hollow of an east-facing tree, heat it, and use it to scrape and wash the surface of the tumor three times a day until healed.
Another formula:
Bai Fan (Alumen, Alum) and Liu Huang (Sulfur), in equal parts.
Pulverize these two ingredients, mix with vinegar, and apply as a paste to seal the lesion. (Both derived from Volume 24)
The *Qianjin Fang* (Prescriptions Worth a Thousand Gold) Xianzhong San (Deflating Swelling Powder) primarily treats tumors and goiters persisting for twenty to thirty years, as well as bone tumors, stone tumors, flesh tumors, pus tumors, and blood tumors. Some tumors may be as large as cups or buckets, persisting for ten years without healing, leading to ulceration and leakage, causing emaciation of bones and wasting of muscles. They may be hard or soft, or weeping fluid, causing fright and anxiety, restlessness in sleep and wakefulness, and body spasms or contraction. After healing, they may recur. The formula to treat this is:
Wuzei Yu Gu (Sepiae Endoconcha, Cuttlefish Bone) (1 fen)
Bai Shi Ying (Quartz, White) (2 fen)
Shi Liu Huang (Sulfur, Mineral) (1 fen)
Zi Shi Ying (Amethyst, Purple Quartz) (2 fen)
Zhong Ru (Stalactite, Stalagmitis) (3 fen, ground)
Gan Jiang (Dried Ginger) (1 liang)
Danshen (Salvia Miltiorrhiza Root) (3 fen)
Hupo (Amber) (1 liang, ground)
Da Huang (Rhubarb Root and Rhizome) (1 liang)
Fuzi (Prepared Aconite Lateral Root) (1 liang, processed)
Hu Yan Shi (Swallow Droppings) (1 liang)
Grind these eleven ingredients into a powder, store in a leather pouch, ensuring no air escapes. If the sore is moist, apply directly. If the sore is dry without exudate, mix with lard (pig fat) and apply. Apply three to four times daily until the area dries. If exudate persists, stop after five to ten doses; do not worry if it does not immediately cease. The medication causes no pain. If the tumor does not subside, add Mang Xiao...
According to *Zhu Bing Yuan Hou Lun* (Source Book of All Diseases and Syndromes), Hou Bi (Throat Obstruction) involves swelling, blockage, numbness, and pain in the throat, preventing the intake of fluids. The yin and yang qi of humans originate from the lungs and circulate up and down through the throat. Wind-toxin invades and lodges in the throat, causing qi stagnation and accumulation, generating heat, thus resulting in throat swelling, blockage, numbness, and pain. A deep pulse indicates a yin pattern; a floating pulse indicates a yang pattern. Regarding the pulse at the right guan position... [Text contains fragmented terms like "tonify," "place two," etc.]
The *Guangji Fang* (Broad Benefit Formulas) treats acute pain and obstruction in Hou Bi (Throat Obstruction):

Xuan Shen (Scrophulariae Radix, Figwort Root) (3 liang)
Slice these seven ingredients, decoct in eight sheng of water to obtain two sheng of liquid. Strain the dregs. Hold in the mouth and swallow slowly, finishing within one day to promote the rupture of pus. Avoid hot noodles, roasted meat, and garlic.
Another formula for treating Hou Bi (Throat Obstruction):
Ma Lin Zi (Iris Laevigata Seed) (8 fen)
Niu Bang Zi (Arctii Fructus, Burdock Fruit) (6 fen)

The *Zhouhou Beiji Fang* (Handbook of Prescriptions for Emergencies) treats Hou Bi (Throat Obstruction), characterized by throat swelling, blockage, numbness, and pain, preventing the intake of fluids. Death may occur within seven to eight days. The treatment formula is:
Ba Dou (Crotonis Semen, Croton Seed) (1 seed, opened)
Wrap this single ingredient tightly in cotton, leaving a string protruding outside. Insert the Ba Dou into the nostril corresponding to the side of the swelling. Inhale intermittently. Improvement should occur within half a day. If Ba Dou is unavailable, use Apricot Kernel (Xing Ren) inserted into the ear using the same method. (Wen Zhong and Fan Wang record the same.)
Another formula:
Roast Apricot Kernels (Xing Ren) until cooked, pound them, and form pills the size of a bullet with honey. Hold in the mouth and swallow the juice. Another formula:
Peel Hu (likely referring to a specific plant part, possibly related to *Lagenaria siceraria* or similar, kept as transliteration 'Hu') and insert into the nasal and ear passages. Change twice daily. Effective.
Another formula:
Chew Calamus Root (Chang Pu Gen). Heat a scale weight until red-hot, place it in a cup of wine, boil, and drink. (Wen Zhong and *Beiji Fang* record the same.)
Another formula for treating Hou Bi (Throat Obstruction):
Hold one slice of She Gan (Belamcandae Rhizoma) in the mouth and swallow the juice.
Another formula:
Break Sheng Ma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma) and hold it in the mouth. Also applicable for throat blockage.
Another formula:
Jie Geng (Platycodonis Radix, Balloon Flower Root) (3 liang).
Slice this single ingredient, decoct in 3 sheng of water to obtain 1 sheng. Take all at once. Avoid pork.
Another formula:
Crush Mustard Seeds (Jie Zi), mix the residue with water and honey, and apply to the lower throat. Replace when dry.
Another highly effective external application formula:
Jie Geng (Platycodonis Radix) and Gan Cao (Licorice Root, prepared), each 1 liang.
Slice these two ingredients, decoct in 1 sheng of water, take the liquid. The swelling will dissipate, and pus will discharge if present. Avoid pork, Seaweed (Hai Zao), and Chinese Cabbage (Song Cai). (*Beiji Fang* records the same.)
Another formula for patients near death:
Pound a handful of Ma Lin Gen (Iris Laevigata Root), add a small amount of water, squeeze to extract juice, and swallow slowly. If the jaw is locked, pry open with an instrument and administer. Highly effective.
The *Gujin Luyan* Chicken Egg Soup treats Hou Bi (Throat Obstruction):
Ban Xia Mo (Pinelliae Rhizoma Powder, Pinellia Tuber Powder) (one fang cun bi).
Break the top off an egg, remove the yolk and white. Fill with pure Ku Jiu (bitter wine/vinegar) almost to the brim. Add Ban Xia Mo, stir to mix with the egg. Secure with a knife handle. Boil over charcoal fire until the medicine is ready. Place in a cup and swallow slowly while warm. Swelling will decrease. Avoid mutton and malt sugar. (*Zhouhou Beiji Fang* and Wen Zhong are identical with Zhang Zhongjing's Ku Jiu Tang...)
Another formula for blocking Hou Bi (Throat Obstruction): She Gan Wan (Belamcanda Pill):
She Gan (Belamcandae Rhizoma) (2 liang)
Chi Dou (Fermented Soybean) (3 he)
Xiong Qiong (Ligusticum Chuanxiong Rhizome) and Xing Ren (Pruni Armeniacae Semen, Apricot Seed), de-husked and de-pitted, each 1 liang.
Xi Jiao (Rhinocerotis Cornu) (1 liang, crushed)
Sheng Ma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma) (2 liang)
Gan Cao (Licorice Root, prepared) (1 liang)
Pulverize these seven ingredients and sift. Mix with honey to form pills. Hold in the mouth and swallow saliva slowly, five to six times daily. Avoid Seaweed (Hai Zao) and Chinese Cabbage (Song Cai).
Another, She Gan Tang (Belamcanda Decoction), treats Hou Bi (Throat Obstruction) with closure, lack of free flow, pain, and inability to eat or drink. This is also a formula for closed throat and other diseases.
Dang Gui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix) (2 liang)
Sheng Ma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma) (1 liang)
Bai Zhi (Angelicae Dahuricae Radix, Dahurian Angelica Root) (3 liang)
She Gan (Belamcandae Rhizoma), Gan Cao (Licorice Root, prepared), Xi Jiao (Rhinocerotis Cornu, crushed), Xing Ren (Pruni Armeniacae Semen, Apricot Seed, de-husked and de-pitted), each 1 liang.
Slice these seven ingredients, decoct in 8 sheng of water to obtain 1.5 sheng. Divide and take. Highly effective. Avoid Seaweed (Hai Zao) and Chinese Cabbage (Song Cai). (Derived from Volume 29)
The *Jin Xiao Fang* (Recent Effective Formulas) treats Hou Bi (Throat Obstruction):
Da Fu Zi (Large Prepared Aconite Lateral Root) (1 piece, scraped of skin, cut into four slices).
Coat this single ingredient with honey, roast over fire until slightly warm, then hold in the mouth and swallow the juice. When the sweetness is gone, take another slice and repeat. If an abscess has formed, pus will drain. If not yet formed, it will disappear immediately. Highly verified. Avoid pork and cold water.
Another formula:
Pu Xiao (Mirabilite, Natrii Sulfas) 1 liang. Hold in the mouth and swallow the juice slowly. Recovery occurs within the time of one meal.
Another formula for severe swelling where speech is lost:
Da Fu Zi (Large Prepared Aconite Lateral Root) (1 piece, processed, cracked, peeled, and cut into bean-sized pieces).
Hold one piece in the mouth and swallow the juice. Recovery occurs within half a meal's time. Wu Tou (Aconiti Radix, Monkshood Root) can also be used. Avoid pork and cold water.
