Wind-heat toxic pathogens, accumulating in the Zang-Fu organs for a long time, fail to circulate freely. This is often exacerbated by excessive consumption of the Five Pungents (five types of pungent and stimulating foods) or the ingestion of heat-inducing medicines, leading to stagnation in the Spleen and Lungs.
For treating external heat rushing to the eyes, manifesting as redness, excessive tearing, and ulceration, use Jue Ming Zi San (Cassia Seed Powder).
Jue Ming Zi (Cassiae Semen), Chuan Sheng Ma (Radix Bupleuri et Cimicifugae), Zhi Ke (Aurantii Fructus Immaturus, stir-fried with bran until slightly yellow, pith removed), Chai Hu (Radix Bupleuri, radix removed), Zhi Zi Ren (Gardeniae Fructus), Che Qian Zi (Plantaginis Semen; each 1 liang);
Xi Xin (Asari Radix et Rhizoma).
The above herbs are coarsely ground into a powder. Each dose consists of 3 qian, decocted in one zhong of water until reduced to six-tenths. Strain and take warm after meals. Avoid fried foods, hot wine, and wheat products.
For treating Liver heat rushing to the eyes, causing ulceration, take Huang Lian San (Coptis Powder).
Huang Lian (Coptidis Rhizoma, 1.5 liang, fibrous roots removed), Chi Shao Yao (Paeoniae Radix Rubra), Rui Ren (Pruni Semen), Mu Tong (Akebiae Caulis, sliced), Jue Ming Zi (Cassiae Semen), Zhi Zi Ren (Gardeniae Fructus), Huang Qin (Scutellariae Radix), Gan Cao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma).
The above herbs are coarsely ground into a powder. Each dose consists of 3 qian, decocted in one zhong of water with fourteen leaves of Zhu Ye (Bambusae Folium) until reduced to six-tenths. Strain and take after meals.
For treating all types of wind-induced eye redness and ulceration, use Qin Pi San (Fraxini Cortex Powder).
Qin Pi (Fraxini Cortex, 3 liang), Xin Yi (Magnoliae Flos, 2 liang), Huang Bo (Phellodendri Cortex, 5 liang, sliced), Huang Lian (Coptidis Rhizoma, 2 liang, fibrous roots removed), Xuan Shen (Scrophulariae Radix, 1 liang), Mang Cao (Herba Siegesbeckiae, 1 liang, lightly roasted).
The above herbs are coarsely ground into a powder. Each dose consists of 3 qian, decocted in one zhong of water until reduced to six-tenths. Strain and take warm after meals.
For treating Liver wind-heat, causing eye ulceration, swelling, and pain, take Chai Hu San (Bupleuri Powder).
Chai Hu (Radix Bupleuri, radix removed), Chuan Sheng Ma (Radix Bupleuri et Cimicifugae), Huang Qin (Scutellariae Radix), Huang Lian (Coptidis Rhizoma, fibrous roots removed), Zhi Zi Ren (Gardeniae Fructus), Che Qian Zi (Plantaginis Semen), Jue Ming Zi (Cassiae Semen), Fang Feng (Saposhnikoviae Radix, rhizome removed), Ling Yang Jiao (Saigae Tataricae Cornu).
The above herbs are finely sifted into a powder. Each dose consists of 3 qian, decocted in one zhong of water until reduced to six-tenths. Strain and take warm after meals.
For treating eye redness and ulceration, take Xi Xin Wan (Asari Pill).

The above herbs are ground into fine powder, mixed with Long Nao (Borneolum Syntheticum), and pounded evenly. Bind with refined honey, pounding three to two hundred times, to form pills the size of Sophora seeds. Take after meals with warm water.
For treating eyelid wind-redness, ulceration at the corners, swelling, erosion, itching, and pain, apply Rui Ren Gao (Pruni Ointment).
Rui Ren (Pruni Semen, 1 liang, skin removed, ground into paste), Bai Long Nao (Borneolum Syntheticum, 1 qian, finely ground), Ni Fen (Calomelas, 1 fen), Huang Lian (Coptidis Rhizoma, 1 fen, fibrous roots removed, ground into powder), Hu Fen (Minium).

Rui Ren (Pruni Semen, 1 fen, skin removed).
Grind thoroughly until fine. Mix evenly with Su You (Butyrum). Apply an amount the size of a sesame seed three to four times daily. Wash frequently with warm saline solution.
