Answer: Women may experience uncontrollable weeping without an obvious cause, appearing as if possessed by spirits. Some attribute this to malevolent influences and resort to prayer, but it remains ineffective. This condition is referred to in the *Jin Gui Yao Lue* (Essential Prescriptions from the Golden Cabinet) as "Zang Zao" (Visceral Dryness). It arises when one's desires are not fulfilled. The primary treatment is Dazao Tang (Jujube Decoction).

Answer: There are two distinct structures: the houlong (throat/larynx) and the yanmen (pharynx/esophagus), each with its own function. The houlong is a hollow passage, connected to the Lung system, serving as the pathway for Qi. The Lung corresponds to Heaven; thus, it is generated by Heavenly Qi. It has nine segments to connect with the Qi of the nine orifices. The yan refers to swallowing, indicating the passage for food. It is connected to the Stomach system. The Stomach belongs to Earth and is generated by Earthly Qi; it is also called "Ai". If Yin and Yang Qi become obstructed and knotted, causing blockage in the throat and diaphragm, it feels as if a plum pit is stuck there, hindering eating and drinking. If this persists without resolution, it may develop into Fan Wei (Regurgitation/Reversal Stomach). Alternatively, phlegm may knot in the chest and diaphragm, struggling with Qi and reversing upward, accumulating in the throat like a piece of roasted meat.
Siqi Tang treats phlegm-saliva formed by the knotting of Qi due to the seven emotions (joy, anger, worry, thought, sorrow, fear, fright). The phlegm may resemble torn cotton or feel like a plum pit stuck in the throat, impossible to cough out or swallow down. This is caused by the seven Qi. Symptoms may include fullness and distension in the Zhongwan area, uncomfortable Qi stagnation, excessive phlegm-saliva, rapid upper breathing, vomiting, and nausea due to fluid retention.

Erqi San treats obstruction and knotting of Yin and Yang Qi, causing blockage in the throat and diaphragm, feeling like a plum pit is stuck, hindering eating and drinking. If unresolved over time, it leads to Fan Wei.
Shanzhizi (Gardenia Fruit, stir-fried) Ganjiang (Dried Ginger, processed, 1 liang each)

Answer: Sun Simiao stated that patients with Hong Jiao Jiao (Foot Qi/Jamaican Itch/Foot Rot) typically begin with symptoms in the feet. Some first present with flaccid weakness, suddenly collapsing while walking; others have swollen calves or withered, thin knees; some experience palpitations or insensitivity in the lower abdomen; some suffer from muscle spasms during movement; some vomit upon seeing food or detest the smell of food; some have chest fullness and shortness of breath; or generalized body soreness. These are all signs of Hong Jiao Jiao. This corresponds to what the Yellow Emperor described as "Huan Qi Shi Bi" (Flaccid Qi Damp Bi). Flaccidity is termed Huan Feng (Flaccid Wind), and pain is termed Shi Bi (Damp Bi). Cold invading the Three Yang meridians results in cold manifestations; heat invading the Three Yin meridians results in heat manifestations. When a woman’s ten toes hurt as if scalded by hot oil, it is due to deficiency of Ying and Wei Qi, allowing damp-toxic Qi to stagnate in the collaterals. If attacking the Heart upwards, it causes heart pain; if attacking the feet downwards, it causes foot pain. The sensation of toes burning like hot oil is also related to Qi disorders, known in classics as Re Jue (Heat Jue).
Huantui Wan treats all types of Hong Jiao Jiao, also known as Shinan Wan.
