1. Lieque (LU7)
Location: One and a half cun above the wrist crease. Cross the hands; at the tip of the index finger, in the gap between the tendon and bone. It is the Luo-Connecting point of the Hand-Taiyin Lung Meridian, diverging to run to the Hand-Yangming Large Intestine Meridian.
Symptoms and Treatments: Treats facial paralysis (Bell's palsy), wrist weakness, hemiplegia, cough, heat in the palm, trismus (lockjaw), malaria with alternating chills and fever, vomiting of frothy saliva, excessive laughter, flaccid lips and mouth, and forgetfulness.
Acupuncture and Moxibustion: Insert needle 2 fen deep. Retain for three breaths. Apply reducing method coordinated with five inhalations. Moxa can be applied for seven moxa cones.
2. Pianli (LI6)
Location: Three cun posterior to the wrist. It is the Luo-Connecting point of the Hand-Yangming Large Intestine Meridian, diverging to run to the Hand-Taiyin Lung Meridian.
Symptoms and Treatments: Treats malaria with alternating chills and fever, wind-induced anhidrosis (absence of sweat), blurred vision, mania with excessive talking, tinnitus, toothache, dental caries, pharyngolaryngeal obstruction (Bi syndrome of the throat), dryness of the pharynx, nasal congestion, epistaxis (nosebleed).
Acupuncture and Moxibustion: Insert needle 3 fen deep. Retain for seven breaths. Moxa can be applied for three moxa cones.
Note: Lieque and Pianli are the Luo-Connecting points where Yin and Yang intersect between the Hand-Taiyin and Hand-Yangming meridians. Yang intersects with Yin, and Yin intersects with Yang, running obliquely as two divergent vessels. Lieque is located at the end of the index finger when hands are crossed. Pressing with a fingernail reveals a depression resembling a crack, hence named "Lieque" (Splitting Crack). In individuals with a reversed radial pulse (Fan Guan Mai), the pulse does not travel through the standard Cun Kou position but斜 (obliquely) from Chi upward to Lieque, entering Yangxi (LI5) and ascending to the index finger. The positions of Dazeyuan (PC7) and Jingqu (LU8) remain fixed, but the pulse movement appears above Lieque, thus called Fan Guan. There are single-hand or double-hand Fan Guan cases, occurring in about one in hundreds. This is congenital, not pathological. Lieque internally connects with the Ren Mai (Conception Vessel) and is one of the Eight Lingshi Points (Spirit Turtle Eight Points), to be selected according to time, with significant effects. A horizontal needling technique should be used, angled inward, with prolonged retention. Various techniques for tonification, reduction, regulating cold/heat, and ascending/descending can be applied. One and a half cun above Lieque, i.e., three cun posterior to the wrist, is Pianli. This is where the Large Intestine Meridian (Hand-Yangming), after reaching Yangxi, deviates medially, separating from the Yang meridian to connect with the Hand-Taiyin Lung Meridian, hence named "Pianli" (Deviating History/Process). The sequence of the twelve meridians is: Lung at Yin hour, Large Intestine at Mao hour, Stomach at Chen hour, Spleen at Si hour... The Hand-Yangming meridian travels from hand to head, connecting with the Foot-Yangming Stomach Meridian. Jing-Qi circulates once around the body in a day and night, passing only through Lieque, not Pianli; passing only through Fenglong, not Gongsun. The divergent vessels like Pianli and Gongsun belong to the twenty-eight pulses, differing between men and women, with left ascending/right descending and right ascending/left descending, interlacing Yin and Yang. The pulse length is sixteen zhang and two chi, flowing through these interlacing divergent vessels.
3. Fenglong (ST40)
Location: Eight cun above the lateral malleolus, in the depression between the anterior border of the tibia and the posterior border of the fibula. Diverges to run to the Foot-Taiyin Spleen Meridian.
Symptoms and Treatments: Treats reversal syndromes with stabbing chest pain, severe abdominal pain, difficult and obstructed urination and defecation, Jue-type headache, facial edema, wind counterflow, limb swelling, cyanosis of the feet, cold-dampness of the body, pharyngolaryngeal obstruction with inability to speak.
Acupuncture and Moxibustion: Insert needle 3 fen deep. Moxa can be applied for three moxa cones.
4. Gongsun (SP4)
Location: One cun posterior to the first metatarsophalangeal joint on the medial side of the foot. It is the Luo-Connecting point of the Foot-Taiyin Spleen Meridian, diverging to run to the Foot-Yangming Stomach Meridian.
Symptoms and Treatments: Treats cold malaria, loss of appetite, sudden facial edema, irritability and manic speech, abdominal distension feeling like a drum.
Acupuncture and Moxibustion: Insert needle 4 fen deep. Moxa can be applied for three moxa cones.
Note: Fenglong and Gongsun are the key pathways for the reciprocal flow of Qi between the Foot-Yangming Stomach and Foot-Taiyin Spleen meridians. Fenglong is located eight cun vertically above the center of the lateral malleolus. According to the *Bone Proportions Chapter*, the distance from the knee to the lateral malleolus is one chi six cun. Three cun below the knee, outside the tibia, is Zusanli (ST36). Another three cun down is Shangjuxu (ST37). Another three cun down is Xiagjuxu (ST39). This point is outside the tibia below Xiagjuxu. Calculated by bone proportions, Fenglong is one cun higher than Xiagjuxu. However, it is not in a straight line with Shangjuxu but lies outside the main channel of the Yangming meridian. The flesh here is full and prominent, distinct from Shangjuxu and Xiagjuxu, hence named "Fenglong" (Abundant and Prominent). By bone proportion, it internally connects to the Taiyin, likely between Lougu (SP7) and Diji (SP8). Gongsun Luo is one cun posterior to the bone of the first toe's proximal joint. In ancient Chinese history, those with flourishing Fire Virtue were called Yan Di (Flame Emperor), and those with flourishing Earth Virtue were called Huang Di (Yellow Emperor). The Yellow Emperor's surname was Gongsun, given name Xuanyuan. Gongsun point is the Luo point of Spleen Earth. Among the five Zang organs, Spleen resides in the center, corresponding to yellow color, connecting to Spleen, and possessing strong Earth Virtue. This Luo point separates from the Taiyin Earth position and connects to the Yangming Dry Metal position. Earth generates Metal, similar to descendants of strong Earth virtue, hence named Gongsun. Tracing the source gives the surname.
5. Tongli (HT5)
Location: One cun posterior to the palmar wrist crease, in the depression. It is the Luo-Connecting point of the Hand-Shaoyin Heart Meridian, diverging to run to the Hand-Taiyang Small Intestine Meridian.
Symptoms and Treatments: Treats febrile diseases, sudden mental restlessness and regret, frequent yawning and stretching, sadness and fear, vertigo, headache, red and hot face, palpitations, elbow and arm pain. Excess syndrome presents with limb swelling; deficiency syndrome presents with inability to speak, bitter vomiting, pharyngolaryngeal obstruction, shortness of breath, and urinary incontinence.
Acupuncture and Moxibustion: Insert needle 3 fen deep. Moxa can be applied for three moxa cones.
6. Zhizheng (SI7)
Location: Five cun posterior to the wrist, where movement of the little finger is felt. It is the Luo-Connecting point of the Hand-Taiyang Small Intestine Meridian, diverging to run to the Hand-Shaoyin Heart Meridian.
Symptoms and Treatments: Treats alternating chills and fever, submandibular swelling, elbow contracture, headache, vertigo, deficiency wind causing fright, mania, tremors, and warts/verrucae.
Acupuncture and Moxibustion: Insert needle 2 fen deep. Moxa can be applied for three moxa cones.
Note: Tongli and Zhizheng are the Luo-Connecting points where Hand-Shaoyin Heart and Hand-Taiyang Small Intestine meridians transition from Yin to Yang and Yang to Yin. Tongli: Since the Small Intestine is the official of receiving and storing, transforming substances, it is like a well or alley. Half a cun anterior to Lingdao (HT4) of the Heart Meridian, half a cun posterior to Yinxi (HT6), and one cun posterior to the wrist is Tongli. Some say one and a half cun from the wrist because if the hand is flexed inward to find the crease, it measures one cun; if extended, it measures one and a half cun. Zhizheng is the divergent vessel of the Small Intestine, internally pouring into the Hand-Shaoyin Heart. The Heart is the great master of the five Zang and six Fu organs, hence "Zheng" (Main/Upright). "Zhi" means separation. Separating from the Small Intestine meridian to connect to the main position of the Heart, hence named "Zhizheng".
7. Feiyang (BL58)
Location: Seven cun above the lateral malleolus. It is the Luo-Connecting point of the Foot-Taiyang Bladder Meridian, diverging to run to the Foot-Shaoyin Kidney Meridian.
Symptoms and Treatments: Treats hemorrhoidal bleeding, rheumatoid arthritis (Li-jie Feng), inability to flex and extend toes, dizziness of head and eyes, counterflow Qi with nasal congestion and epistaxis, epilepsy, cold malaria.
Acupuncture and Moxibustion: Insert needle 3 fen deep. Moxa can be applied for three moxa cones.
8. Dazhong (KI4)
Location: In the center of the heel, between the large bone and two tendons. It is the Luo-Connecting point of the Foot-Shaoyin Kidney Meridian, diverging to run to the Foot-Taiyang Bladder Meridian.
Symptoms and Treatments: Excess syndrome presents with dysuria and strangury, aversion to cold, stiffness and pain of waist and spine, constipation, lethargy, heat in the mouth. Deficiency syndrome presents with vomiting and counterflow with excessive cold, desire to stay indoors alone, shortness of breath, chest distension and panting, dry tongue, food sticking in the throat unable to swallow, frequent fright and unhappiness, buzzing in the throat, coughing up blood.
Acupuncture and Moxibustion: Insert needle 2 fen deep. Retain for seven breaths. Moxa can be applied for three moxa cones.
Note: Feiyang and Dazhong are the Luo-Connecting points where Foot-Taiyang Bladder and Foot-Shaoyin Kidney meridians transition from Yang to Yin and Yin to Yang. Feiyang is seven cun above the lateral malleolus, also known as Jueyang ("Jue" means end); Yang ends here and connects to Yin. "Feiyang" implies soaring high. Among the twelve Luo points, such as Neiguan/Waiguan and Guangming/Ligou, they form horizontal lines on the inner and outer sides of limbs. However, Feiyang and Dazhong (at the heel) show significant vertical disparity. "Dazhong" has two meanings: one is "heavy," the other is "drinking vessel." The Kidney is the root of life. Human standing relies on this heel bone, bearing heavy responsibility, hence "Da Zhong" (Great Weight/Bell). Kidney governs Water, storing essence of all Zang and Fu organs. Essence of water is Jin and Ye. Bladder is the official of the capital, storing Jin and Ye. Kidney essence and fluids transfer to the Bladder meridian. Without this great bell-like vessel, Jin and Ye would have no place to store, hence named Dazhong, with profound meaning.
9. Neiguan (PC6)
Location: Two cun posterior to the wrist crease on the palm side. It is the Luo-Connecting point of the Hand-Jueyin Pericardium Meridian, diverging to run to the Hand-Shaoyang Sanjiao Meridian.
Symptoms and Treatments: Treats red eyes, chest and hypochondriac fullness, stroke with elbow contracture. Excess syndrome presents with sudden heart pain; deficiency syndrome presents with palpitations and fear.

10. Waiguan (TE5)
Location: Two cun posterior to Yangchi (TE4), between two bones, opposite Neiguan. It is the Luo-Connecting point of the Hand-Shaoyang Sanjiao Meridian, diverging to run to the Hand-Jueyin Pericardium Meridian.
Symptoms and Treatments: Treats deafness with muffled hearing, inability to flex and extend elbow and arm, pain in five fingers preventing grasping.
Acupuncture and Moxibustion: Insert needle 3 fen deep. Moxa for three cones.
Note: Neiguan and Waiguan are the Luo points where Hand-Jueyin Pericardium and Hand-Shaoyang Sanjiao meridians separate Yin to exit Yang and separate Yang to enter Yin. Two cun posterior to the wrist on the palm side is Neiguan, between two tendons. Two cun posterior to the wrist on the dorsal side is Waiguan, between two bones. Make a fist to clearly see the tendons. For Waiguan, press the hand flat to feel the bones easily. These two points combine with the extraordinary vessels, Yin Wei Mai and Yang Wei Mai, forming two of the Eight Lingshi Points, to be selected by time, with maximum effect.
11. Guangming (GB37)

Symptoms and Treatments: Treats hernia pain, lower abdominal fullness and pain, strangury, accumulation of Qi under the umbilicus like a cup, frequent belching, fear and palpitations, shortness of breath, cold and soreness of shins, difficulty flexing and extending, stiffness of waist and back preventing bending and twisting, irregular menstruation, leukorrhea (red and white discharge).
Acupuncture and Moxibustion: Insert needle 2 fen deep. Retain for three breaths. Moxa for three cones.
Note: Guangming and Ligou are the Luo points where Foot-Shaoyang Gallbladder and Foot-Jueyin Liver meridians transition from Yang to Yin and Yin to Yang. Five cun above the lateral malleolus is Guangming; five cun above the medial malleolus is Ligou. "Li" refers to small insects that gnaw wood. Liver is the Wood Zang, Gallbladder is the Wood Fu. The twelve meridians start with Lung and end with Liver. Liver blood cannot fully return to the Lung. Men grow beards; women have menstruation. Liver is the General, originating strategy; Gallbladder is the Official of Justice, originating decision. Considering the circulating Ying-Blood of the twelve meridians, there must be minor impurities. These are not beneficial to the Liver meridian but harmful, like Ligou gnawing wood. Therefore, Ligou and Guangming are set, corresponding internally and externally. With Gallbladder's decision-making, shining brightly, connecting to Ligou, preserving the good, transferring to the upper abdomen connecting Liver and Gallbladder; removing the bad, like the light of sun and moon, the harm of Ligou to wood naturally disappears.
