Mr. Wang from Handong discusses various sores and boils in children in his *Jiabao*. Sores are caused by dysfunction of the internal organs and invasion of Wind pathogen due to loss of defensive integrity. Some have accumulated toxic heat, some transform into parasites due to Wind, some have excessive Heat, and some have惊 (Fright/Jing) invading the skin. In severe cases, Qi and Blood stagnate in the vessels and overflow into the skin; if Qi and Blood are regulated, healing is facilitated. If entangled by Wind, urticaria (Yinzhen) may arise. If invaded by external pathogens, it often presents as dry itching with uncertain location; if food toxicity causes stagnation and death of Qi and Blood, pus forms over time. Some are called Jing Chuang (Fright Sores); Jing itself has no physical substance but disrupts Qi and Blood. In the Zang organs, it becomes accumulation; in the Fu organs, it manifests as sores on the skin, spreading over the body with difficulty in healing the limbs. (The "accumulation" refers to undigested food stagnating in the Spleen. Accumulations are related to the Spleen. The Spleen and Stomach govern the four limbs, so the root lies in the internal organs, and treatment should focus on regulating them.)
Feng Chuang (Wind Sores) also spreads over the body, appearing very small, commonly known as Scabies (Jie). (Wind pathogen enters and exits through hair follicles; prolonged exposure to external Wind transforms into Wind Qi.)
Redu Chuang (Heat-Toxin Sores) appear in不定 (uncertain) locations, causing sores by stagnating blood.
Chongke Chuang (Insect Nest Sores) often occur behind the calves, forming nest-like structures containing insects resembling lice eggs, caused by intestinal roundworms transforming via Qi. These sores scab and reappear in patches, resembling Tinea (Xuan), often with dark blood, and are intensely itchy. Applying medication for itching only temporarily suppresses the worms in the abdomen; one must expel the worms to cure, using vermifuge drugs.
If Jing Chuang occurs on the wrists or ankles of the limbs, it is difficult to heal; calming Jing medications should be taken.
Tou Chuang (Head Sores) are mostly due to fetal heat or upward rushing of Kidney Qi.
Yanguo Chuang (Goose-Pass Sores) belong to Lung Heat. (These sores flare up in autumn when Lung Qi is strong; they heal in spring when Water element is dominant. They appear on the feet in patches.)
*Yingtong Baojian* states that childhood sores are caused by accumulated heat in the internal organs and retained food in the chest, with toxic vapors flowing through the twelve meridians to generate sores.
*Qianjin Fang* prescription for treating widespread sores all over a child's body:
Shao Yao (Peony Root), Huang Lian (Coptis Rhizome), Huang Qin (Scutellaria Root) (each 3 liang), Ku Shen (Sophora Root) (8 liang), Da Huang (Rhubarb Root) (2 liang), She Chuang Zi (Cnidium Fruit) (1 sheng), Huang Bai (Phellodendron Bark), Ba Qian (Smilax Glabra Rhizome) (1 jin).
Crush the above eight ingredients, boil in two dou of water until reduced to one dou, and use the decoction to bathe the child.

Huang Qi (Astragalus Root) (sliced, dried), Ren Shen (Ginseng Root), Gan Cao (Licorice Root) (roasted), Bai Yao Zi (Stemona Root), Gua Lou Gen (Trichosanthes Root) (equal parts).
Grind into powder. Mix with warm Willow Branch Decoction (Liu Zhi Tang) and take one qian per dose, two to three times daily.
*Divine Effect Prescription for All Sores in Children and Adults* from *Yingru Shu*, effective even if physicians do not recognize the condition:
Shui Yin (Mercury), Gan Cao (Licorice Root), Huang Bai (Phellodendron Bark), Huang Lian (Coptis Rhizome), Song Zhi (Pine Resin) (choose bright yellow ones), Ni Fen (Calomel), Tu Feng Ke (Earth Beehive) (attached to walls with mud. Available in the south, collect as needed. Equal parts).
Place mercury in the palm and grind with saliva into a green paste, put into a bowl. Grind with raw Sesame Oil (Sheng Ma You) until smooth like thin syrup, filter through raw silk, then mix with the powdered herbs and grind again until thick like syrup. First wash the sore with warm water, dry with cloth, and apply. Treats all unnamed sores. This formula does not need to be prepared by a physician; a careful young man can prepare it according to the prescription. One application cures. If yellow fluid oozes from the sore, it dries immediately upon application. If itching is unbearable, itching stops immediately. If pain persists, healing occurs immediately. Many people have been saved by this preparation.
*Feiwu Gao* for treating sores from *Yingru Shu*:
Qing Fen (Calomel) (made by burning Cinnabar to obtain mercury, taking the black smoke), Fan Shi (Alum) (burned to ash). (Each 2 liang).
Grind into powder. Mix with Jia Jian (Nail Lacquer) to form a grease-like consistency, apply to breast sores three times daily. If used as powder, no mixing is needed. If there is exudate, it will naturally settle; use as a powder. Effective for all types of suppurative sores.
Another prescription for sores from *Yingru Shu*:
Huang Lian (Coptis Rhizome) (3 liang, powdered), Hu Fen (Lead Carbonate) (5 fen), Shui Yin (Mercury) (1 liang).
Mix evenly, wrap in paper, heat and blend uniformly, apply to breast sores and head crusts causing various sores in children. Highly effective.
Washing medicine for childhood sores from *Yingtong Baojian*:
Jian Dao Cao (Centella Asiatica), Fang Ji (Stephania Root), Huang Lian (Coptis Rhizome), Huang Bai (Phellodendron Bark), Gan Cao (Licorice Root) (each 1 fen).
Pound together. Use one spoonful, wrap in cloth with scallion leaves, decoct with water. Wash the area when temperature is suitable.
Prescription for childhood and adult sores from *Yingtong Baojian*:
Huang Dan (Minium), Ni Fen (Calomel) (1 qian bi).
Grind evenly, chew Almond (Xing Ren) to extract juice, mix with medicine and apply.
*Er Xian Tang* from *Zhuang Family Collection* for childhood sores in various stages (about to erupt, erupted, complicated, or damaged):
Fang Feng (Saposhnikovia Root), Gan Cao (Licorice Root) (roasted). (Each 1 liang).
Grind into coarse powder. First, grind 1 liang of peeled and deseeded Almond (Xing Ren) finely in a tea basin, then add the herb powder and grind together until uniform. Take 5 qian of medicine, add one spoonful of aged Rice (Jing Mi), decoct with one bowl of water until the rice is cooked. Drink like water.
Prescription for Alopecia Sores (Tu Chuang), Malnutrition Sores (Gan Chuang), and Innocent Sores (Wugu Chuang) from *Zhao Family Collection*:
Zao Jiao (Gleditsia Sinensis Fruit) (3 cun, straight ones), Bie Jia (Turtle Shell) (1 liang, burned to retain nature), Chi (Fermented Soybean) (1 he, fried until scorched), Ni Fen (Calomel) (5 tong).
Grind into powder, mix thoroughly with the powder. Mix with raw oil and apply to sores. First wash off dirt with bean water, then apply medicine. This has been proven effective repeatedly; treats all sores on the head.
Prescription for various toxic sores from *Ji Family Collection*:
Huang Bai (Phellodendron Bark), Bai Ye (Cupressus Leaf) (each 1 liang), Qing Fen (Calomel) (2 qian).
Grind into powder, mix with Chicken Egg Oil (Jizi You) and apply to sores. If not healed, apply again.
An Shi's prescription for non-healing sore wounds:
Gou Tou Gu (Dog Skull Bone), Kong Ji Zi Ke (Empty Chicken Eggshell) (already hatched), Ru Xiang (Frankincense), Mo Yao (Myrrh), Huang Lian (Coptis Rhizome).
Burn the dog skull bone and eggshells to ash separately. Grind Ru Xiang and others into fine powder. Take equal parts of these five ingredients. Make into an ointment with oil and wax. Apply to sores to dry and heal.
If the wound failed to close due to water entry later, burn Soap Nut (Zao Zi) to ash retaining its nature, mix with rock sugar, and apply to the wound. Fluids will drain, swelling will subside, then use the previous wound-closing medicine. If swelling and fluids have subsided, first drain toxins and reduce swelling, then close the wound.
