Taiyin disease is characterized by abdominal fullness, vomiting, inability to eat, worsening spontaneous diarrhea, and occasional spontaneous abdominal pain. If purgatives are incorrectly administered, it will inevitably result in hardness and binding below the chest.
Taiyin wind-strike presents with vexatious pain in the four limbs. If the pulse is slightly weak at the Yang position, choppy at the Yin position, yet long, this indicates that recovery is impending.
The time when Taiyin disease tends to resolve is from Hai hour to Chou hour.
In Taiyin disease, if the pulse is floating, sweating therapy may be employed; Guizhi Tang (Cinnamon Twig Decoction) is appropriate.
Spontaneous diarrhea without thirst belongs to Taiyin, due to cold in the zang organs. Warming therapy should be applied; Si Ni Tang (Frigid Extremities Decoction) or similar formulas are suitable.
In Shanghan (Cold Damage), if the pulse is floating and slow, and the hands and feet are naturally warm, the disease is associated with Taiyin. Taiyin disease typically manifests as jaundice; however, if urination is free and unimpeded, jaundice will not develop. By the seventh or eighth day... (text missing here)
(When Taiyin disease reaches the seventh or eighth day, if stool becomes hard, it signifies transmission from the Zang to the Fu, transforming into Yangming disease. Now, reaching the seventh or eighth day, sudden irritability occurs with more than ten episodes of diarrhea...)
Originally suffering from Taiyang disease, the physician erroneously used purgation, resulting in abdominal fullness and intermittent pain. This belongs to Taiyin and is primarily treated with Guizhi Jia Shaoyao Tang (Cinnamon Twig Decoction plus Paeonia Root).
(The exterior pathogen has not resolved; the physician's use of purgation allowed the pathogen to enter Taiyin due to deficiency, causing disharmony in the interior Qi, leading to abdominal fullness and intermittent pain. Guizhi Tang is given to release the exterior...)
In cases of severe excess pain, Guizhi Jia Dahuang Tang (Cinnamon Twig Decoction plus Rheum Palmatum) is indicated.
(In cases of severe excess and fullness, purgation can naturally eliminate the pathogen; therefore, Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma) is added to purge severe excess.)
In Taiyin disease, if the pulse is weak and the patient continues to have normal bowel movements, if Da Huang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma) or Shao Yao (Paeoniae Radix Alba) are to be used, their dosages should be reduced. This is because the patient's Stomach Qi is weak and easily disturbed.
(Abdominal fullness and pain are manifestations of Taiyin disease. A weak pulse and continued normal bowel movements indicate that although the pathogen is in the interior, it has not formed a severe excess syndrome. The intention to use Da Huang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma) and Shao Yao (Paeoniae Radix Alba) to attack fullness...)
