Spleen disorders should not be treated solely with methods for digestion and promoting movement. For heat syndromes, do not arbitrarily use *Scutellariae Radix* (Huangqin) or *Coptidis Rhizoma* (Huanglian), as this may cause stagnation of retained impurities; for cold syndromes, avoid using *Cinnamomi Ramulus* (Guizhi) or *Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata* (Fuzi), lest it provoke new hemorrhage.
When the Three Yang meridians present with exterior syndrome patterns, sweating therapy might seem appropriate; however, using *Ephedrae Herba* (Mahuang) would severely deplete Yang Qi. When the Three Yin meridians present with severe interior syndrome patterns, purgative therapy might seem appropriate; however, using *Chengqi Decoction* (Chengqi Tang) would severely deplete Blood and fluids.
Deafness and hypochondriac pain are caused by Kidney deficiency leading to the retention of lochia; do not use *Bupleuri Radix* (Chaihu). Delirium accompanied by profuse sweating is a sign of Yuan Qi (Primordial Qi) weakness resembling pathogenic invasion; do not treat it as Stomach excess heat. Cold extremities (Jue) result from the decline of Yang Qi and are difficult to distinguish between cold and heat types; only vigorous tonification can restore Yang. If Jue results from Yin Blood deficiency, one cannot simply categorize it by rigid/flexible (Yin/Yang) distinctions; nourishing Ying (Nutritive) Blood is necessary to moisten the collaterals.
Tidal fever resembling malaria will drag on if treated as malaria; mental confusion resembling possession will worsen immediately if treated as an external pathogen. These symptoms all belong to severe deficiency and require vigorous tonification.
Postpartum blood loss leading to dry stool requires adding *Cistanche Deserticola* (Roucongrou) to *Shenghua Decoction* (Shenghua Tang); this is not something that can be resolved merely by moistening the intestines and harmonizing Qi. Postpartum excessive sweating leading to difficulty in urination requires doubling the dosage of *Ginseng Radix* (Renshen) and *Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma* (Baizhu) in *Liujunzi Decoction* (Liujunzi Tang); generating fluids and assisting liquids is essential for promoting urination. Frequent administration of *Renshen*-added *Shenghua Decoction* can rescue critical postpartum conditions; the *Huoming Changsheng* regulation method must be attended to during pregnancy.

Usage: Decoct in water, add half a small cup of child's urine (Tongbian) and wine. If pressing the abdomen increases pain, this indicates blood stasis; this formula is suitable, or use *Shixiao San* (Shixiao Powder) to dissipate the stasis. If pressing does not increase pain, this indicates Blood deficiency; *Siwu Decoction* (Siwu Tang) with *Ginseng*, *Poria* (Fuling), and *Atractylodes* is suitable. If pain is accompanied by vomiting, this indicates Stomach deficiency; *Liujunzi Decoction* (Liujunzi Tang) is suitable. If diarrhea occurs, this indicates Spleen deficiency; *Liujunzi Decoction* administered with *Ershen Wan* (Ershen Pill) is suitable.
