牛一斤。生捣末八两。余滓以新瓦炒香。再捣取四两。蜜丸梧子大。至重服三十五丸。陈皮
生姜汤临卧下。半夜未动。再下三十丸。治五般积气成聚（此方寻常行气服十丸最妙。）
紫葳（花根功用同）主治泻血热破瘀血喉痹热痛妇人经闭产后。血崩症瘕。紫葳散。
肉桂赤芍白芷玄胡索当归刘寄奴丹皮各等分。红花少许。黄酒一钟。水二钟。煎服。治经水
不来。发热腹胀。紫葳汤凌霄花天冬百合杜仲黄芩黄连萆 牛膝防风菟丝子白蒺藜各等分。
水煎服。治肝痿。又方。紫葳五钱。地龙（焙）僵蚕全蝎（均炒）各七个。研末。每服二钱
温
酒下。治大风疠疾。
【覆盆子】
主治补益虚损。接续绝伤，强健阴精，滋养阳明经，明目。乌发，治疗劳损导致的肾精虚竭、阳痿及小便涩痛。此药补益而无燥热之弊。但通常作为辅助药物配合其他药材使用。
【使君子】
主治杀虫消积。清除虚热，健运脾胃。治疗白浊、泄泻痢疾。小儿五疳病及蛔虫腹痛。
方剂：使君子丸。使君子（切片，在瓦上焙干）、槟榔、酸石榴根皮（锉碎后焙干）、大黄（一半生用，一半炮制），各七钱五分。其中槟榔锉碎后晒干，不经过火烤。其余药物再焙干，共同研成细末。用砂糖水煮面糊制作成麻仁大小的丸剂。每次服用三十至五十丸，空腹时用淡猪肉汁或鸡汁送服。治疗腹内虫痛，口吐清水。
又一方：使君子（去壳）二两，南星（姜汁制过）、槟榔各一两。研成细末，用蜂蜜制成丸剂。每次早晨用砂糖水送服。治疗小儿蛔虫引起的腹痛、食劳发黄、疳胀、食积导致腹部出现青筋、呕吐，以及喜食生米者（拌炒至药物呈黄色）、喜食茶叶者（用茶叶拌炒）、喜食灰土者（用灰土拌炒）。炒完后拣去辅料。
【马兜铃】
主治疳积、痞块、痔瘤、瘰疬、恶疮、乳痈，消散结肿，通利大肠。治疗酒疸、脾黄、噤口痢、风牙肿痛。（醋调敷）
凡遇噤口痢，用木鳖仁六个研成泥状，分为两份。将烧饼掰开一半做成一个小孔，纳入药泥，蒸热后敷于患者脐部，一个时辰后更换，再次更换即可痊愈。
木鳖膏：麻油三斤，熬煮番木鳖一百四十七粒，至变黑脆时捞起。再加入铝粉（炒黄）三十两，投入锅中熬成膏状。片刻后放入井水瓶中，置于露天处过夜以去除火气，摊贴患处。治疗一切风痛、疗疮、跌打损伤、肿痛疮伤。
【马兜铃子】
主治肺热咳嗽、痰结、喘促，清除肺中湿热。根部能通利大肠，治疗头风、虫毒、疔肿、蛇蛊毒。
方剂：马兜铃丸。马兜铃、半夏、杏仁各一两。巴豆二十一粒（去皮，去油后研烂）。巴豆和杏仁单独研磨，其余药物研成细末后再混合研磨。用皂角膏制成梧桐子大小的丸剂，外裹雄黄粉。每次服用十丸，睡前用乌梅两枚煎汤送服，以大便通畅为度。治疗多年气喘咳嗽。
方剂：马兜铃散。马兜铃、桔梗、人参、甘草、贝母各五钱，陈皮、大腹皮、桑白皮、紫苏各一两，五味子二钱五分。切碎。每次服用四钱，加生姜三片，水煎服。治疗妊娠咳嗽。
方剂：马兜铃汤。马兜铃、桔梗、人参、甘草、贝母各五钱，陈皮、大腹皮、桑白皮、紫苏各一两，五味子二钱五分。切碎，加水煎煮，去渣滓。空腹服用。治疗五种蛊毒，以及草蛊毒进入咽喉刺痛欲死者。服药后吐出蛊毒即愈，若未吐出可再服，以身体畅快为度。
【牵牛子】
（分为黑白两种，黑色名为黑丑，白色名为白丑。）
主治逐除痰饮，通利滞气，降气，通利大小便。治疗脚肿、水肿、虚肿，泻除蛊毒，排出冷脓。功效专于行水，药性猛烈，气虚者忌用。白色牵牛主要治疗上焦痰饮壅滞、气逆、大肠风秘、气分湿热。黑色牵牛主要泻除肾及脾胃湿热，通利大小便。
方剂：牵牛丸。黑丑、玄胡索（微炒）、补骨脂各二两。三种药物分别炒制、分别研磨。用煨蒜研成的膏液制成梧桐子大小的丸剂。每次服用五十丸，饭前用葱酒或盐汤送服。治疗冷气流注引起的腰痛，不可俯仰。
又一方：牵牛、大黄、槟榔、雄黄研成细末，用水泛丸，梧桐子大小。每次服用三钱。治疗虫聚。
又一方：黑牵牛一斤，生捣取末八两。剩余的药渣在新瓦上炒香，再捣取末四两。用蜂蜜制成梧桐子大小的丸剂。重者服用三十五丸，轻者服用十丸效果最好（此方寻常行气服用十丸最妙）。睡前用陈皮生姜汤送服。若半夜仍未排便，再服用三十丸。治疗五种积气成聚。
【紫葳】
（花和根功用相同）
主治泻血热，破瘀血。治疗喉痹热痛、妇人经闭、产后血崩、症瘕。
方剂：紫葳散。肉桂、赤芍、白芷、玄胡索、当归、刘寄奴、丹皮各等分，红花少许。黄酒一钟，水二钟，煎服。治疗经水不来，发热腹胀。
方剂：紫葳汤。凌霄花、天冬、百合、杜仲、黄芩、黄连、萆薢、牛膝、防风、菟丝子、白蒺藜各等分。水煎服。治疗肝痿。
又一方：紫葳五钱，地龙（焙干）、僵蚕、全蝎（均炒制）各七个。研成细末。每次服用二钱，温酒送服。治疗大风疠疾。
[Rubus chingii (Fupenzi)]
Indications: Tonifies deficiency. Continues severed tendons and bones, strengthens Yin essence, nourishes the Yangming channel, and brightens the eyes. Blackens hair. Treats damage from overwork leading to exhaustion of Kidney essence, impotence, and dysuria with astringency. This herb tonifies without causing dryness or heat. However, it is generally used as an adjuvant to other herbs.
[Quisqualis indica (Shijunzi)]
Indications: Kills parasites and eliminates accumulation. Clears deficient heat, strengthens the Spleen and Stomach. Treats leukorrhea, diarrhea, and dysentery. Pediatric five-type malnutrition (Wugan) and ascariasis abdominal pain.
Formula: Quisqualis Pill (Shijunzi Wan). Quisqualis fruit (sliced and roasted on a tile), Areca seed (Binglang), Pomegranate root bark (Suan Shiliu Genpi; crushed and roasted), Rhubarb (Dahuang; half raw, half processed), each 7.5 qian. Areca seed is crushed and sun-dried without roasting. The remaining herbs are roasted again, then ground together into fine powder. Dough made from sugar water and flour is used to form pills the size of hemp seeds. Take 30-50 pills per dose, administered on an empty stomach with weak pork broth or chicken broth. Treats abdominal pain caused by worms and spitting of clear saliva.
Another prescription: Quisqualis fruit (shelled) 2 liang, Arisaema cum Bile (Nanxing; processed with ginger juice), Areca seed (Binglang), each 1 liang. Ground into powder, formed into honeyed pills. Take in the morning with sugar water. Treats pediatric ascariasis abdominal pain, jaundice due to food stagnation, malnutrition distension, abdominal cyanotic veins due to food accumulation, vomiting, pica for raw rice (stir-fry with medicine until yellow), pica for tea leaves (stir-fry with tea leaves), pica for soil (stir-fry with soil). Remove the adjuvants after frying.
[Aristolochia debilis (Madouling)]
Indications: Treats malnutrition accumulation,痞 masses, hemorrhoids, tumors, scrofula, malignant sores, mastitis, dissipates nodules and swelling, unblocks the Large Intestine. Treats wine jaundice, spleen yellow, aphagic dysentery, wind-tooth swelling and pain. (Apply with vinegar.)
For aphagic dysentery, use six Manchu walnut kernels (Mubiezi), grind into paste, divide into two portions. Split a steamed bun halfway to make a hole, insert the medicine, steam until hot, and apply to the patient's umbilicus for one shichen (two hours). Replace once more for cure.
Manchu Walnut Ointment (Mubie Gao): Sesame oil 3 jin, boil 147 Manchu walnut kernels until black and crisp, then remove. Add 30 liang of Aluminum Hydroxide Powder (Lvfen; fried yellow), stir into the ointment. After a moment, place in a well-water bottle, leave outdoors overnight to dispel fire toxicity, and apply externally. Treats all wind-pain, carbuncles, traumatic injuries, swelling, pain, and sores.
[Aristolochia debilis Seed]
Indications: Treats Lung heat cough, phlegm obstruction, panting, clears damp-heat from the Lung. The root unblocks the Large Intestine, treats cephalalgia due to wind, insect toxins, carbuncles, snake venom, and gu poison.
Formula: Aristolochia Pill (Madouling Wan). Aristolochia debilis root, Pinellia ternata (Banxia), Apricot kernel (Xingren), each 1 liang. Croton tiglium seed (Badou) 21 grains (skin removed, oil pressed out and ground). Badou and Xingren are ground separately. Other herbs are ground finely, then mixed. Form pills the size of Sophora japonica seeds using Gleditsia sinensis paste (Zaojiao Gao), coated with Realgar (Xionghuang). Take 10 pills per dose, administer before sleep with decoction of two Chinese plum fruits (Wumei). Stop when bowel movement is achieved. Treats chronic asthma and cough.
Formula: Aristolochia Powder (Madouling San). Aristolochia debilis, Platycodon grandiflorus (Jiegeng), Ginseng (Renshen), Licorice root (Gancao), Fritillaria thunbergii (Beimu), each 5 qian; Tangerine peel (Chenpi), Betel nut (Dafupi), Mulberry root bark (Sangbaipi), Perilla leaf (Zisu), each 1 liang; Schisandra chinensis (Wuweizi) 2.5 qian. Coarsely powdered. Take 4 qian per dose, add 3 slices of fresh ginger, decoct in water. Treats pregnancy cough.
Formula: Aristolochia Decoction (Madouling Tang). Aristolochia debilis, Platycodon grandiflorus, Ginseng, Licorice root, Fritillaria thunbergii, each 5 qian; Tangerine peel, Betel nut, Mulberry root bark, Perilla leaf, each 1 liang; Schisandra chinensis 2.5 qian. Coarsely powdered, decoct in water, strain. Take on an empty stomach. Treats five types of gu poison, and grass gu poison entering the throat causing stabbing pain and near-death sensation. Vomit out the gu poison after administration for cure. If not vomited, take again until relief is felt.
[Pharbitis nil seed (Qianniuzi)]
(Divided into black and white varieties; black is named Heichou, white is named Baichou.)
Indications: Drains phlegm and fluid retention, unblocks stagnation, directs Qi downward, unblocks urination and defecation. Treats pedal edema, anasarca, vacuity edema, drains gu poison, expels cold pus. Efficacy focuses on promoting water metabolism; potency is fierce, contraindicated in Qi deficiency. White variety primarily treats Upper Jiao phlegm-fluid retention, Qi rebellion, Large Intestine wind constipation, Qi-level damp-heat. Black variety primarily drains Kidney and Spleen/Stomach damp-heat, unblocks urination and defecation.
Formula: Pharbitis Pill (Qianniu Wan). Heichou, Corydalis yanhusuo (Yanhusuo; lightly fried), Psoralea corylifolia (Buguzhi), each 2 liang. Fry the three ingredients separately, grind separately. Use baked garlic paste to form pills the size of Sophora japonica seeds. Take 50 pills per dose before meals with green onion wine or salt water. Treats cold Qi flowing and accumulating, causing lower back pain preventing flexion and extension.
Another prescription: Pharbitis seed, Rhubarb, Areca seed, Realgar, ground into powder, water-honeyed pills the size of Sophora japonica seeds. Take 3 qian per dose. Treats worm aggregation.
Another prescription: Black Pharbitis seed 1 jin, crush raw to obtain 8 liang of powder. Remaining dregs are fried fragrant on a new tile, then crushed to obtain 4 liang of powder. Honeyed pills the size of Sophora japonica seeds. Heavy cases take 35 pills, mild cases take 10 pills (this formula for ordinary Qi-moving takes 10 pills for best effect). Administer before sleep with Chenpi and fresh ginger decoction. If no bowel movement by midnight, take another 30 pills. Treats five types of qi accumulation forming masses.
[Lonicera japonica flower/root (Ziwei)]
(Flower and root have same efficacy.)
Indications: Drains blood heat, breaks blood stasis. Treats bi-syndrome with heat pain, amenorrhea in women, postpartum metrorrhagia, zheng jia masses.
Formula: Ziwei Powder (Ziwei San). Cinnamon twig (Rougui), Red Peony root (Chishao), Angelica dahurica (Baizhi), Corydalis yanhusuo (Yanhusuo), Chinese angelica (Danggui), Herba Centipedae (Lijienu), Moutan cortex (Danpi), each equal parts; Safflower (Honghua) a small amount. One zhong of yellow wine, two zhong of water, decoct and drink. Treats amenorrhea, fever, abdominal distension.
Formula: Ziwei Decoction (Ziwei Tang). Lonicera japonica flower (Lingxiaohua), Asparagus cochinchinensis root (Tiantong), Lily bulb (Baihe), Eucommia bark (Duzhong), Scutellaria baicalensis root (Huangqin), Coptis chinensis rhizome (Huanglian), Dioscorea hypoglauca rhizome (Bixie), Achyranthes bidentata root (Niuxi), Saposhnikovia divaricata root (Fangfeng), Dodder seed (Tusizi), Tribulus terrestris fruit (Bajili), each equal parts. Decoct in water and drink. Treats Liver atrophy (Ganwei).
Another prescription: Ziwei 5 qian, Earthworm (Dilong; roasted), Bombyx batryticatus (Jiangcan), Scorpio (Quanxie; all fried), each 7 pieces. Ground into powder. Take 2 qian per dose with warm wine. Treats severe leprosy-like disease (Da Feng Li Ji).
