Ginseng juice, then add ten *zhan* (ancient liquid measure) of water, decoct to obtain five *zhan*, combine with the previous ginseng juice and decoct into a paste. Store in bottles. Use as a decoction according to the disease condition. Zhu Danxi said: For individuals with excessive desires, whose kidney qi is weak and exhausted, causing incessant coughing, use fresh ginger (*Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens*) and tangerine peel (*Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium*) to make a decoction, dissolve the ginseng paste in it, and take orally. A brother named Zheng from Pujiang suffered from dysentery in May, and after engaging in sexual activity, suddenly fainted and lost consciousness. His hands were relaxed, eyes dim, sweating profusely like rain, phlegm rattling in the throat like a sawing sound, urinary incontinence, and an extremely large and disordered pulse. This is a syndrome of yin deficiency and yang exhaustion. I ordered him to urgently decoct a large dose of ginseng paste, and simultaneously moxa the Qihai (CV6) acupoint for eighteen moxibustion units. After his right hand could move, I added three more moxa units; his lips and mouth began to move slightly. Then I gave him one *zhan* of the paste. After midnight, he took three *zhan*. His eyes could move. After consuming three *jin* (approx. 1.5 kg), he could speak and ask for porridge. After consuming five *jin*, the dysentery stopped. After consuming ten *jin*, he fully recovered. If treated as a wind disorder, it would have been a mistake.
Another patient had a carbuncle on the back. He had taken a large amount of Neituo Shixuan Decoction (*Neituo Shixuan Tang*). Pus was discharged, followed by vomiting and fever. The six pulses were deep, rapid, and forceful. This is contraindicated in ulcerative conditions. Therefore, I prescribed a large dose of ginseng paste mixed with bamboo sap (*Bambusae Succus*). After consuming sixteen *jin* of ginseng and over a hundred bamboo stalks, he recovered. Later, after more than ten days, during a storm that uprooted trees, the wound reopened with pus, and a red line appeared in the center, extending over the shoulder blade to the right hypochondrium. I said: Urgently prepare ginseng paste. Make a decoction of Chuanxiong (*Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma*), Danggui (*Angelicae Sinensis Radix*), and tangerine peel (*Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium*), add bamboo sap and ginger juice, and drink. After consuming three *jin*, the abscess ruptured, and he recovered through conditioning. If after the rupture of a carbuncle or ulcer, both qi and blood are deficient, with vomiting, inability to eat, and various complicated symptoms, equal parts of Ginseng (*Panacis Quinquefolii Radix* or *Panacis Ginseng Radix*), Astragalus (*Astragali Radix*), Danggui (*Angelicae Sinensis Radix*), and Atractylodes (*Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma*) should be decocted into a paste and taken orally. Boil these four herbs in eight *sheng* (ancient volume measure) of water to obtain three *sheng*. Take one *sheng* per dose, three times daily, modifying according to symptoms. Since the Jin and Song dynasties until famous physicians of the Tang dynasty, no one treating heart and abdominal diseases did not use this formula. It was used as a decoction, honey pill, or powder, all yielding miraculous effects. Hu Qia Jushi called it Wenzhong Decoction (*Wenzhong Tang*) for treating cholera-like illness (*Huoluan*). Tao Hongjing's *Yi Fang Yi Bai* stated: Remedies for residual cholera may be hard to find, but Zhizhong Tang, Sishun Tang (*Sishun Tang*), and Houpo Tang (*Houpo Tang*) must not be lacking; they should be prepared in advance and carried personally. Wang Fangqing, Duke of Shiquan, said: These formulas not only cure cholera but also treat various diseases. Sishun Tang uses Ginseng (*Panacis Ginseng Radix*), Licorice (*Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma*), Dried Ginger (*Zingiberis Rhizoma*), and Prepared Aconite (*Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata*), each two *liang*.
