[Sheep Horn]

It mainly treats Qingmang (a type of eye disease characterized by blurred vision), improves vision, kills scabies mites, stops cold-type diarrhea, wards off evil spirits, tigers, and wild wolves, and stops palpitations due to fright. It treats Qi stagnation in all joints, wind-induced headache, Gu poison (poisoning caused by venomous insects or magical curses), hematemesis (vomiting blood), and residual pain after childbirth in women. When calcined, it kills ghosts and charms, and wards off tigers and wild wolves. Long-term consumption calms the mind, boosts Qi and strength, and makes the body feel light. It is produced in the valleys of Hexi. It can be collected at any time, but must not be allowed to become damp, as dampness renders it toxic. (Tusizi [Cuscutae Semen, Dodder Seed] acts as its guiding herb.)
Sheep Marrow: Sweet in flavor, warm in nature, non-toxic. It mainly treats internal injury in men and women, insufficiency of Yin Qi, promotes the flow of Blood vessels, supplements Jing Qi, and should be taken with wine.

It treats deficiency-wasting and cold conditions, tonifies the middle and boosts Qi, calms the mind, and stops fright.
Sheep Bone: Hot in nature, mainly treats deficiency-wasting, cold in the middle Jiao, and emaciation.
Sheep Feces: When calcined, it mainly treats infantile diarrhea and dysentery, intestinal borborygmus, and fright-induced epilepsy.
Sheep Horn is not widely used in prescriptions; the rest are usually decocted in soups. There are three or four types of sheep, with green ones being the best, followed by black ones. The sheep from the northern barbarian regions without horns are only suitable for eating; as medicinal materials, they are inferior to those from Duxia (the capital). Their milk and marrow are rich and good. Sheep liver should not be eaten together with pork, plums, or adzuki beans, as this damages the Heart, especially in patients with serious illnesses. [Rhino Horn]
Bitter, salty, and sour in flavor, cold and slightly cold in nature, non-toxic. It mainly treats various toxins, Gu Zhu diseases (chronic infectious diseases attributed to malignant qi), evil spirits, miasma, kills Gouwen (Aconitum ferox), Zhen bird feathers, and snake venom, expels evil Qi, and prevents confusion and nightmare sleep. It treats Shanghan (cold damage), Wenyi (warm epidemics), headache, chills and fever, and various toxic vapors. Long-term consumption makes the body light and vigorous. It is produced in the valleys of Yongchang and Yizhou. (Songzhi [Pini Resina, Pine Resin] acts as its guiding herb; it is incompatible with Jun and Leiwan.)
It is currently produced in remote mountains of Wuling, Jiaozhou, and Ningzhou. The rhinoceros has two horns, with the frontal one being superior. There is also Tongtian Xi (Sky-Piercing Rhino), which has a white stripe running straight up to the tip of the horn; this type is extremely effective. Some say it is Shui Xi (Water Rhino), whose horn grows in water. The "Haiji Xi" (Chicken-Startling Rhino) mentioned in the Book of Han: when placed next to rice, chickens are startled and dare not peck at it. When placed in a house, crows do not dare to perch on the roof. In the past, someone made a banner from a rhino horn and died in the wild. A passerby saw eagles flying above it but dared not land nearby, suspecting the horn's strangeness. Upon extraction, birds flocked to gather around. It is also said that Tongtian Xi does not get wet by night dew, which serves as proof. All commercially available rhino horns have been steamed or boiled and are unsuitable for medicinal use; only raw horn is excellent. Even if sold as powder slices, they are already cooked and roasted, let alone using powder! There is also Guang Xi (Smooth Rhino), whose horn is very long and has texture similar to rhino horn, but it is unsuitable for medicinal use.
