在天者曰天，在地者地，分主东西南北，而土则寄位西南也。天星抑之，则不能升，地星窒之，则不能降。

司天主天之气，在泉主地之气，逐年升降，皆自右旋，东降西升，各得其候，是谓和平。若本年司天之气
不及，未得迁令，则地之右间不得升天，旧年司天之气有余，不肯退位，则天之右间不即入地，是升降以司天
为主，又或遇天星抑之，当升天者不得前遇地，星窒之，当降地者不得入，本年中运太过，皆未得正化
也。假如子午年，太阴当升为天左间，遇天冲木星抑之，太阳当降为地左间，而地阜土星窒之，本岁少阴未得
迁正，则太阴不得升天，旧岁厥阴未得退位，则太阳不得降地。壬子、壬午，木运太过，则中运胜土，太阴亦
不得升。甲子、甲午，土运太过，则中运胜水，太阳亦不得降也。余皆仿此，可以类推。

天蓬星对应太乙坎水，颜色为白；天辅星对应招摇巽木，颜色为绿；天柱星对应咸池兑金，颜色为赤。

存在于天上的称为“天”，存在于地上的称为“地”，它们分别主宰东、西、南、北四个方位，而土则寄居在西南之位。如果天星压制它，它就无法上升；如果地星阻塞它，它就无法下降。
岁会：木；荧惑星（火星）：火；镇星（土星）：土；太白星（金星）：金；辰星（水星）：水。
天冲星：木；天英星：火；天芮星：土；天柱星：金；天蓬星：水。
地苍：木；地彤：火；地阜：土；地晶：金；地元：水。
司天之气主管天的气候，在泉之气主管地的气候，每年升降变化，都是向右旋转，东方之气下降，西方之气上升，各自符合其应有的时序，这被称为“和平”。如果本年司天之气不足，未能按时迁正（接任主气），那么地面的右间气就无法升天；旧年司天之气有余，不肯退位，那么天上的右间气就不能立即入地。气的升降以司天之气为主导。或者又遇到天星压制，该升天者不能前进遇到地星阻塞，该降地者不能进入，本年的中运太过，都未能得到正常的化生。
例如子午年，太阴湿土应当升为天之左间气，却遇到天冲木星压制；太阳寒水应当降为地之左间气，却遇到地阜土星阻塞。本年少阴君火未能迁正，则太阴湿土不得升天；旧岁厥阴风木未能退位，则太阳寒水不得降地。如果是壬子、壬午年，木运太过，则中运克制土气，太阴湿土也不得升天。如果是甲子、甲午年，土运太过，则中运克制水气，太阳寒水也不得降地。其余年份都仿照此例，可以类推。

What exists in the heavens is called "Heaven," what exists on earth is called "Earth." They respectively govern the directions of East, West, South, and North, while Earth is stationed in the Southwest position. If Heavenly Stars suppress them, they cannot ascend; if Earthly Stars obstruct them, they cannot descend.
Suihui (Year Meeting): Wood; Yinghuo Star (Mars): Fire; Zhenxing Star (Saturn): Earth; Taibai Star (Venus): Metal; Chenxing Star (Mercury): Water.
Tianchong: Wood; Tianying: Fire; Tianrui: Earth; Tianzhu: Metal; Tianpeng: Water.
Dicang: Wood; Ditong: Fire; Difou: Earth; Dijing: Metal; Diyuan: Water.
Si Tian (Chief of Heaven) governs the Qi of Heaven, and Zai Quan (In Spring/Underground) governs the Qi of Earth. Their annual ascent and descent all rotate clockwise: Qi from the East descends, and Qi from the West ascends. When each obtains its proper timing, it is called "Harmony" (Ping He). If the Si Tian Qi of the current year is insufficient and fails to migrate to its proper position (Qian Zheng), then the Right Intercalary Qi of the Earth cannot ascend to Heaven. If the Si Tian Qi of the previous year is excessive and refuses to retreat from its position (Tui Wei), then the Right Intercalary Qi of Heaven does not immediately enter the Earth. The ascent and descent are primarily governed by Si Tian. Alternatively, if Heavenly Stars suppress them, those that should ascend to Heaven cannot advance due to obstruction by Earthly Stars, and those that should descend to Earth cannot enter. If the Zhong Yun (Central Movement) of the current year is excessive, none obtain their normal transformation.
For example, in the Zi-Wu years, Taiyin (Too Yin/Dampness) should ascend to become the Left Intercalary Qi of Heaven but is suppressed by Tianchong (Wood). Taiyang (Great Yang/Cold) should descend to become the Left Intercalary Qi of Earth but is obstructed by Difou (Earth). Because Shaoyin (Lesser Yin/Fire) of the current year has not obtained its proper migration, Taiyin cannot ascend to Heaven. Because Jueyin (Terminal Yin/Wind) of the previous year has not retreated from its position, Taiyang cannot descend to Earth. In Ren-Zi and Ren-Wu years, Wood Yun is excessive, so the Central Movement overcomes Earth, and Taiyin also cannot ascend. In Jia-Zi and Jia-Wu years, Earth Yun is excessive, so the Central Movement overcomes Water, and Taiyang also cannot descend. The rest can be inferred by analogy.
