[Minister Drug] Cistanche Herba (Roucongrong) serves as the Envoy drug. It is incompatible with Polygonatum Rhizoma (Weirui) and can counteract the toxicity of Aconitum Radix Lateralis Preparata (Chuanwu).
Schisandrae Fructus (Wuweizi), sour in taste, warm in nature, non-toxic. Its action descends, and its attribute is Yin. It has four functions: nourishes the insufficient water of the Kidney Meridian; astringes the dissipating Metal Qi of the Lung; eliminates vexation and heat, generates fluids, and stops thirst; tonifies deficiency and fatigue, benefits Qi, and strengthens Yin.
Radix Aconiti Lateralis Preparata (Chuanwu), pungent in taste, hot in nature, toxic. Its action floats, and its attribute is Yang within Yang. It has two functions: disperses cold pathogens from various wind evils; breaks up cold pain caused by various accumulations.
[Minister Drug] Dislikes Dendrobii Caulis (Shihu), fears Natrii Sulfas (Xiaoshi), opposites to Cirsii Japonici Herba (Daxiaoji) and Veratri Rhizoma (Lilu).
Paeoniae Radix Alba (Baishao), sour and neutral in taste, cold in nature, slightly toxic. Its action can ascend and descend, and its attribute is Yin. It has four functions: supports Yang Qi and greatly relieves abdominal pain; astringes Yin Qi and solely strengthens the Spleen Meridian; induces abortion and expels blood; when the Liver is damaged, it relieves internal tension.
[Minister Drug] Dislikes Bletillae Rhizoma (Bailian), Primulae Flos (Mimeng), Sanguisorbae Radix (Diyu), Realgar (Xionghuang), Gentianae Macrophyllae Radix et Rhizoma (Qinjiao), and Testudinis et Chelonis Carapax et Plastrum (Guijia); avoids vinegar products. The fibrous parts are most damaging to the eyes and should be removed before use.
Poria (Baifuling), sweet and bland in taste, warm in nature, non-toxic. Its action descends, and its attribute is Yin within Yang. It has six functions: unblocks orifices and removes dampness; benefits Qi and harmonizes the Middle Jiao; stops frequent urination; unblocks constipation; protects against palpitations and fright; generates fluids when deficient; white Poria enters the Ren-Gui Water organs (Kidneys), while red Poria enters the Bing-Ding Fire organs (Heart).

Alismatis Rhizoma (Zexie), sweet and salty in taste, cold in nature, non-toxic. Its action descends, and its attribute is Yin within Yang. It has four functions: clears utrine filth and generates new fluids; reduces yin sweating and stops deficiency vexation; is the premier herb for treating dysuria and strangury; is the miraculous pill for treating edema and damp swelling.
[Envoy Drug]
Menthae Haplocalycis Herba (Boheye), pungent in taste, cool in nature, non-toxic. Its action ascends, and its attribute is Yang. It has two functions: clears and benefits the meeting point of the six Yang meridians at the head; dispels wind pathogens arising from various heat evils.
[Minister Drug] Dislikes Xanthoceras Semen (Xinyi) and Pyrosiae Spica (Shiwei). When used, boil first and remove yellow foam, otherwise it causes vexation and stuffiness.
Ephedrae Herba (Mahuang), bitter and sweet in taste, warm in nature, non-toxic. Its action ascends, and its attribute is Yang within Yin. It has two functions: due to its hollow structure, it disperses cold pathogens and releases the exterior; due to its closed nodes, it stops night sweats and secures deficiency.
[Minister Drug] Dislikes Alismatis Rhizoma (Zexie), Natron (Hanshuishi), and Natrii Sulfas (Xiaoshi). For medicinal use, remove the coarse skin and stir-fry with Ginger Juice (Shengjiangzhi).
Magnoliae Officinalis Cortex (Noupu), bitter and pungent in taste, warm in nature, non-toxic. Its action can ascend and descend, and its attribute is Yang within Yang. It has two functions: bitterness directs Qi downward, eliminating excess fullness and reducing abdominal distension; warmth benefits Qi, removes dampness-induced fullness, dissipates nodules, and harmonizes the Middle Jiao.
