Treats severe sores with excessive heat, pain, thirst, and irritability. This medicine detoxifies and is remarkably effective.
Cinnabar (Zhusha), Poria (Fuling), Ginseng (Renshen), White Cardamom Seed (Baishadoukou), Realgar (Xionghuang), Mung Bean (Lüdou), Mirabilite (Puxiao), Licorice Root (Gancao), Borneol (Naozi), Musk (Shexiang), Soap Pod (Zaojiao) (all in equal parts).
Grind into a fine powder. Take one qian per dose, mixed with honey water for administration.
Treats various types of carbuncles and sores, including those adhering to the bone (tiegu yong). For those not yet ulcerated, there is no need to use needles or knives; after one dose, pus will spontaneously drain within a short time. It has been repeatedly used with verified efficacy.
Moth cocoon (the empty shell left after the moth emerges):
Burn the above-mentioned cocoons into ash, mix with wine, and take orally to promote drainage. Do not burn and take two or three cocoons at once. If only one cocoon's ash is taken, there will be only one sore opening; if two or three are taken, there will be multiple openings. Exercise caution and do not neglect this.
Back carbuncle (fabei) occurring on the back, spanning one chi wide and deep enough to reach one chi: even if it ulcerates to the bone, as long as it does not penetrate the fascia, death will not occur.
This condition arises from improper diet, with toxicity located between the spleen and stomach. It is urgent to use medication to clear the toxicity in the spleen and stomach, attacking from both inside and outside. However, the spleen tends to become foul-smelling; urgently apply external medicines that detoxify, generate flesh, and relieve pain. Apply Detoxification-Pulling Powder around the perimeter, and finally use Flesh-Generating Ointment. Effectiveness is certain.
This condition occurs in the region of the right spleen. There is fear that the toxicity will rush into the heart due to excessive fire. Internal medication is needed to dissipate it, and external plasters are used to intercept the pathogen, preventing it from attacking the heart. If it occurs in the Tongbei area, applying 3-4 needle pricks with a heated needle above the lesion is advisable. Use the previously mentioned Detoxification, Swelling-Reduction, and Interior-Supporting Powder, adding Arisaema (Nanxing), Aconite (Caowu), Momordica Charantia Seed (Mubie), Fritillaria (Beimu), Garlic (Dasuan), and Ginger (Shengjiang), mixed with rice vinegar for external application, leaving the wound open. After two to three nights, the swelling and toxicity will completely subside. Keep moistened with vinegar frequently.
When this condition manifests with the head upward, it is most difficult to treat and represents an atypical presentation. Careful medication is required; this is named Honeycomb Carbuncle. The key lies in internal medication to support the interior, generate flesh, relieve pain, and disperse blood stasis. One must fear that toxic vapors may attack the heart and penetrate the membrane, making treatment extremely difficult because the Heart Fire has not yet dissipated.
This refers to the folk proverb "Turtle Shadow" syndrome. Medical texts do not recognize this term. The theory of turtles giving birth under the back is unfounded; rather, toxic vapors breed driven by wind and heat. The application of this medicine is like using troops in battle. If it flows into the hands, feet, or legs, death is inevitable.
This condition results from dampness invasion, anger, and drinking hot alcohol, damaging the inner kidneys. Toxicity flows to the Shenshu point. Urgent external application and internal ingestion are required to resolve the internal pathogens. Treatment is absolutely necessary; exercise extreme caution.
[Image: Bilateral Shenshu Carbuncle and Spleen Abscess]
Bilateral Shenshu carbuncles below result from drinking hot alcohol followed by sexual activity, combined with anger and dampness. Yang-type manifestations on the exterior are treatable; Phlegm-type and Yin-type injuries to the kidney membrane, characterized by thin pus, indicate deficiency and are difficult to treat, often leading to death.
Spleen abscess occurs between the left arm. Initially, it can be punctured with a moxa cone or lighted lamp wick, followed by administering Zhuding Decoction. Sweating will lead to resolution.
This condition arises on the right Dajian shoulder bone. Since it is in a mobile area, it is treatable but prone to discomfort; if it spreads to the left shoulder, it is difficult to treat. Use rubbing and dusting medications according to the Left Dajian Shoulder formula.
This condition arises on the left Dajian shoulder bone. Since it is in a mobile area, it is treatable but prone to discomfort; if it spreads to the right shoulder, it is difficult to treat. Chicken eggshell membrane and cotton wadding can be baked dry and ground into powder. If the area is wet, apply the dry powder directly; if dry, mix with pure sesame oil for application until healed.
This condition is the Opposite Heart Carbuncle, caused by excessive Heart Fire and heat accumulation. The toxicity becomes stronger and spreads. Urgently use medications to guide out Heart Fire to resolve it, then use flesh-generating medicines to heal.
Honeycomb carbuncle occurring between the chest and breasts is due to excessive Heart Fire. Use the same Heart Fire-guiding medications mentioned earlier; it can be slightly treated. Delay leads to heat attacking the heart, resulting in certain death.
If this condition appears as a honeycomb shape on the back of the head, urgent rescue is needed. If redness and swelling appear, it is good for healing; if fully developed, it is difficult to treat. Use internal and external medications for emergency treatment. If it flows to both shoulders, it is untreatable.
When the two ends are small and the sides spread widely, it is caused by dietary factors. Qi and food are interconnected; deficiency leads to its formation. Qi deficiency causes spreading, resulting in a wide opening. Urgently administer internal resolving medicines, and yang-tonifying methods are also appropriate.
[Image: Bilateral Hypochondriac Carbuncle/Ulcer]
Carbuncles and ulcers forming under both hypochondria result in Qi deficiency. Tonifying Yang medicines must not be administered. Since it arises from deficiency, heat-inducing agents are strictly contraindicated. If heat-inducing agents are used, deficiency-heat will intensify, easily damaging the periosteum. Exercise extreme caution.
Conditions occurring at the hairline on both sides of the back of the neck require urgent rescue. If nodular, remove the root cause urgently; if Brain-Heart Carbuncle, heat rises from the head. Blood-Qi and Phlegm-type conditions are difficult to treat and fatal.
This condition is named Tianju. It presents as large and dark purple/black. If not treated urgently, heat enters the Yuanye acupoint, damages the Ren Mai anteriorly, and internally steams the Liver and Lungs, leading to death within ten days. Urgently use the previously mentioned Detoxification, Swelling-Reduction, and Interior-Supporting Powder, Neituo Qianjin San, and flesh-generating/pain-relieving medicines to achieve efficacy.
This condition occurs at the fatal point one inch and three fen behind the ear; development here leads to death. Therefore, sharp toxicity is not treated. Sharp toxicity refers to hardened, sharp toxins, named Fayi (Parotitis). Heat steams upward, connecting to the cheek and piercing the mouth, inevitably leading to throat perforation and death. Medications are listed below.
