This syndrome belongs to *Kuang Bing* (Mania). The patient behaves wildly and irrationally, with tendons contracting and trembling, limbs being pulled and jerked, and incessant shouting. Some may run in terror from eaves, while others sing, dance, cry, or laugh; their hair becomes brittle, complexion deteriorates, skin and flesh swell, alternating chills and fever occur, accompanied by hiccups, vomiting, coughing up phlegm, or Qi stagnation and transmission pain. Once *Dian Feng* (Epileptic Wind) attacks, the patient acts as if possessed by spirits in a temple, speaking deliriously about gods and ghosts, running wildly with disheveled hair, and smashing objects. After one hundred days, symptoms change to vomiting worm-like substances, flaccidity of hands and feet, flexion deformities, pain, and numbness, with myriad other complications arising. The Classics state: Qi and Blood in the human body constitute Zheng Qi (Upright Qi/Righteousness), representing the internal factor; Wind and Cold from seasonal changes constitute Xie Qi (Evil Qi/Pathogenic Factors), representing the external factor. If living conditions are improper and diet unregulated, causing internal damage to Zang-Fu organs and deficiency of internal Qi and Blood, Wind Evil will invade from the exterior. The Liver stores Blood and governs Hun (Ethereal Soul); excessive sorrow and grief injure the Hun, while fright, anger, accumulated depression, and toxic vapors lead to blood corruption and loss. Treatment should primarily employ medicines such as *Duoming Huanzhen Dan* (Life-Restoring Pill) and *Simó Dan* (Four Demons Pill), with nourishing the Spirit and controlling Blood as the essential principle.
As for *Ban Zhi Feng* (Hemiplegic Wind), *Ruan Tan Feng* (Flaccid Paralysis Wind), *Zi Yun Feng* (Purple Cloud Wind), *Gan Feng* (Dry Wind), *Ci Feng* (Thorn Wind), and *Yang Feng* (Itchy Wind), these syndromes originate from the Spleen Meridian.
This syndrome presents with soreness and pain throughout the upper and lower body, affecting either the left or right side, with pathogenic factors settling on half of the body. Sensations include soreness, pain, numbness, insensibility, heaviness, stupor, fatigue, and flaccidity; there may be edema, clenched fists like claws, bone marrow cramping, wandering sensations over the whole body, tremors resembling fear, or flaccid degeneration. If paralysis occurs on the left, it indicates stagnant dead blood; if on the right, it indicates accumulation of phlegm and saliva. This condition is also called *Pian Ku* (Hemiplegia) or *Wei Bi* (Flaccid Obstruction). In chronic cases, ptosis, facial deviation, kyphosis, and limb weakness develop, leading to death amidst crying and wailing. This results from Cold-Dampness lodging in the joints, Wind Evil overcoming and damaging Spleen Earth, leaving Lung and Kidney rootless, allowing Rogue Evil to prevail. Treatment should utilize *Jiuku Huisheng Dan* (Suffering-Relieving Life-Reviving Pill) and *Erba Jiyang Dan* (Two-Eights Yang-Nourishing Pill), combined with greatly supplementing Yuan Yang (Primordial Yang), nourishing Blood, regulating Qi, and strengthening the root, which leads to recovery.
This syndrome initially resembles *Tong Feng* (Gout), presenting with alternating chills and fever, or numbness and insensitivity. Mental energy is exhausted, and joints gradually become weak and degenerate. The patient feels lazy and fatigued, joint pain may feel dull or loose, hands and feet lack strength, the body feels soft like cotton, swelling or atrophy may occur, contraction and spasms arise, joints may crackle, aversion to Wind-Cold develops, eventually resulting in paralysis. *Shui Zhu* records: "Wandering swelling and pain in hands and feet, inability to control the four limbs." Ancient texts call this *Gu Wei* (Bone Flaccidity), which arises from *Bi* Syndrome. It is caused by Wind-Cold Rogue Evil injuring Marrow and Fluids, failure of Spleen Earth to consolidate, lack of foundation in the Five Zang Organs, leading to deficiency of Qi and Blood. Treatment options include selecting *Shenxian Huangu Dan* (Immortal Bone-Replacing Pill), *Sousun Fengqi Wan* (Wind-Searching Qi-Moving Pill), or *Erba Jiyang Dan*.
