须补脾胃之气以生肺气。然而生肺气者,止有脾胃之土。而克肺者有心焉;仇肺者有肝焉;
A person suffers from pain in both legs that pulls and tethers them, accompanied by slight diarrhea in the abdomen. The person cannot sleep; when lying down, the feet curl up and cannot extend, and extension causes increased pain. People consider this to be Bi syndrome (Bi Syndrome: obstruction of meridians causing pain) caused by cold-dampness. Who would know that it is actually wind-cold-dampness jointly knotting in the Large Intestine? When wind pathogen enters the Large Intestine, it causes frequent bowel movements daily; the pathogen seems easy to evacuate, and even if dampness is present, it should dissipate together. Why does it remain firmly knotted inside, causing pain manifesting in the two legs? It is unknown that cold pathogen enters the abdomen and stays in the Large Intestine, and combined with the struggle between wind and dampness, it often refuses to disperse quickly, thus forming Bi syndrome. The treatment method must eliminate these three pathogens—wind, cold, and dampness—so they do not remain in the Large Intestine, then the Bi disease can be cured. However, merely treating the pathogens in the Large Intestine makes it difficult to dispel wind-cold-dampness; one should also tonify the Qi of the Large Intestine, making the Qi vigorous within the intestine so that transportation and transformation accelerate, thereby facilitating the expulsion of wind-cold-dampness. Use the formula Zhubi Dan (Dispel Bi Decoction): Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma, 1 qian), Fuling (Poria, 5 qian), Rougui (Cinnamon Twig, 3 fen), Shengma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma, 5 fen), Gancao (Licorice Root, 1 qian), Yiren (Coix Seed, 1 liang), Shenqu (Medicated Leaven, 5 fen), Baizhu (Atractylodes Macrocephala Rhizome, 5 qian). Decoct in water and take orally. After one dose, dampness is removed; after two doses, wind and cold are dispersed.
This formula treats dampness predominantly, while treating wind and cold lightly. This is because water-dampness is the hardest to separate and dissipate; treating the difficult aspect makes the easy aspect easier to treat. Moreover, by treating dampness without damaging the Original Qi (Yuan Qi: Primordial Energy), the Large Intestine naturally possesses the miraculous power of transmission and transformation, enabling wind-cold to resolve along with the dampness.
This condition can also be treated with Yiren Lingzhu Tang (Coix and Poria-Atractylodes Decoction): Fuling (Poria), Baizhu (Atractylodes Macrocephala Rhizome) (each 5 qian), Yiren (Coix Seed, 1 liang), Rougui (Cinnamon Twig, 3 fen), Chao Jingjie (Fried Schizonepeta Spike, 3 qian). Decoct in water and take orally.
A person experiences restless vomiting, fullness and oppression in the chest and diaphragm, acid regurgitation with pain, which subsequently causes pain in both legs. People assume this is cold in the stomach opening. Who knows that it is wind-cold-dampness knotting in the Stomach to form Bi syndrome? The Stomach prefers heat and dislikes cold. Once the stomach opening becomes cold, pathogens invade accordingly. Wind pathogen enters the Stomach but does not disperse; dampness stagnates in the Stomach but does not move. The combination of these three factors forms the Bi syndrome. The treatment method is to expel these three pathogens while regulating Stomach Qi. When Stomach Qi is robust, wind-cold-dampness will resolve spontaneously. Use Liu Junzi Tang (Six Gentlemen Decoction) with modifications. Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma, 3 qian), Baizhu (Atractylodes Macrocephala Rhizome, 5 qian), Shengjiang (Fresh Ginger, 5 slices), Chenpi (Citrus Reticulata Pericarp, 5 fen), Gancao (Licorice Root, 5 fen), Rougui (Cinnamon Twig, 5 fen), Jingjie (Schizonepeta Spike, 3 qian), Fuling (Poria, 3 qian), Banxia (Pinellia Tuber, 1 qian). Decoct in water and take orally. Symptoms lighten after one dose, further after two doses, and again after three doses. Continuous administration for ten doses eliminates all symptoms of fullness, oppression, soreness, and pain.
This formula opens the Stomach and effectively separates and dissipates dampness. Added with Shengjiang (Fresh Ginger) and Jingjie (Schizonepeta Spike), it excels at dispersing wind-cold, scattering the pathogen's allies, thus achieving remarkable efficacy.
This condition can also use Wenwei Xiaoshi Dan (Warm Stomach and Eliminate Dampness Pill): Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma), Huangqi (Astragalus Root), Fushen (Poria with Hostwood) (each 3 qian), Bajitian (Morinda Officinalis Root, 3 qian), Yuanzhi (Polygala Root, 1 qian), Rougui (Cinnamon Twig, 3 fen), Roudoukou (Nutmeg, 1 piece), Yizhiren (Bitter Almond, 5 fen), Gancao (Licorice Root), Fangfeng (Saposhnikovia Root) (each 5 fen). Decoct in water and take orally.
A person feels cold and pain in the epigastrium, experiences palpitations and fearfulness, lacks appetite for food, and upon manual pressure, hears a sound resembling fluid retention. People assume this is fluid stagnating below the heart. Who knows that it is wind-cold-dampness knotting in the Pericardium (Pericardium: the membrane surrounding the heart)? Fluid pathogen invading the Heart causes pain; Wind pathogen attacking the Heart causes pain; Cold pathogen entering the Heart causes pain. Regardless of whether the pathogen is wind, cold, or damp, it can cause disease. Severe cases invariably lead to death. Now, only cold sensation and pain exist without fatal consequences; this is precisely because the Pericardium protects the Heart. Since the Pericardium shields the Heart and bears the brunt alone, how can it not hurt? The treatment method should urgently expel the wind-cold-dampness pathogens to prevent them from invading the Pericardium, allowing the Heart Sovereign to remain peaceful, thus avoiding epigastric pain. Nevertheless, merely expelling wind-cold-dampness without tonifying Pericardium Qi leaves the Pericardium too weak, causing external support forces to be bullied, potentially leading to disaster. Therefore, one must tonify the Pericardium while simultaneously treating wind-cold-dampness. Use Sanbi Tang (Dispel Bi Decoction): Bajitian (Morinda Officinalis Root, 5 qian), Baizhu (Atractylodes Macrocephala Rhizome, 5 qian), Tusizi (Cuscuta Seed, 3 qian), Chao Zaoren (Fried Ziziphus Jujuba Seed, 3 qian), Yuanzhi (Polygala Root, 8 fen), Shanyao (Dioscorea Rhizome, 5 qian), Lianzi (Lotus Seed, 5 qian), Fuling (Poria, 3 qian), Gancao (Licorice Root, 3 fen), Chaihu (Bupleurum Root, 1 qian), Banxia (Pinellia Tuber, 1 qian). Decoct in water and take orally. Palpitations cease after one dose; Stomach Qi opens after two doses; the fluid sound stops after three doses; epigastric pain resolves completely after ten doses.
The herbs in this formula appear to treat only the Heart, but since the Pericardium is the ministerial officer of the Heart, treating the Heart is indeed treating the Pericardium. Just as a clear-sighted ruler ensures diligent ministers, peace can be restored instantly.
This condition can use Bajitian Tang (Morinda Decoction): Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma), Baizhu (Atractylodes Macrocephala Rhizome), Fushen (Poria with Hostwood), Bajitian (Morinda Officinalis Root), Cheqianzi (Plantago Seed) (each 3 qian), Shanyao (Dioscorea Rhizome, 1 liang), Banxia (Pinellia Tuber), Rougui (Cinnamon Twig) (each 1 qian). Decoct in water and take orally.
A person experiences difficult and obstructed urination, feeling like strangury (Strangury: painful, frequent, scanty urination), with lower body pain, and sometimes a sensation rising upward resembling hernia (Hernia: pain radiating from the hypochondrium to the testicles or groin). People diagnose hernia or strangury, but this is incorrect. It is likely wind-cold-dampness entering the Small Intestine, forming Bi syndrome. The Small Intestine governs the separation of fluids; why does water entering the Small Intestine stop flowing instead of evacuating? Cold and wind are the culprits. The treatment must scatter wind-cold in the Small Intestine, making dampness easy to remove. However, treating the Small Intestine requires treating the Bladder (Bladder: organ responsible for urine storage and excretion) for optimal results; if the Bladder is unobstructed, the Small Intestine will also be unobstructed. Although the Bladder can have Bi syndrome, it differs little from Small Intestine Bi. Thus, treating Small Intestine Bi requires using methods for Bladder Bi. Use Gongbi San (Attack Bi Powder): Cheqianzi (Plantago Seed, 3 qian), Fuling (Poria, 3 qian), Yiren (Coix Seed, 1 liang), Rougui (Cinnamon Twig, 5 fen), Mutong (Akebia Stem, 2 qian), Baizhu (Atractylodes Macrocephala Rhizome, 5 qian), Wangbuliuxing (Vaccaria Seed, 1 qian). Decoct in water and take orally for several consecutive doses. The strangury-like symptoms cease; the hernia-like sensations disappear. Further doses eliminate the pain entirely.
This formula promotes dampness drainage without depleting Qi, dispels cold while naturally scattering wind, hence its excellence. There is no need to use wind-dispelling drugs that damage the Zang-Fu organs.
This condition can use Jinu Tang (Liu Jisu Decoction): Baizhu (Atractylodes Macrocephala Rhizome, 1 liang), Fuling (Poria, 3 qian), Rougui (Cinnamon Twig, 1 qian), Chaihu (Bupleurum Root, 1 qian), Liuji Nu (Artemisia Annua Herb, 2 qian). Decoct in water and take orally.
A person suffers from widespread pain throughout the upper and lower body, which sometimes stops. Phlegm-Qi is turbid, desire to cough exists but cannot produce sputum, throat feels stifled, chest and diaphragm are full and distended, and urination and defecation are difficult. People attribute this to Lung Qi stagnation. Who knows that it is wind-cold-dampness invading the Triple Burner (Triple Burner: functional system dividing the torso into three zones governing Qi and fluid metabolism)? The Triple Burner governs Qi, circulating through the Upper, Middle, and Lower Jiao. Contracting any of the wind-cold-damp pathogens impedes Qi circulation. With three pathogens struggling together, how can they relax? No wonder the pathways of clarity and turbidity are blocked, causing pain. If wind-cold-dampness are not urgently expelled, how can the Triple Burner circulate freely? However, the Triple Burner cannot be treated directly. Treating the Triple Burner requires treating the Kidney (Kidney: organ storing essence and governing water); when Kidney Qi is vigorous, Lower Jiao Qi flows. It is also necessary to treat the Lung (Lung: organ governing Qi and respiration); when Lung Qi descends, Upper Jiao Qi lowers. Especially, treat the Spleen and Stomach (Spleen and Stomach: central organs of digestion and Qi production); when robust, Middle Jiao Qi transforms. Regulating Lung, Kidney, and Spleen-Stomach Qi, combined with pathogen-dispersing herbs, allows the Triple Burner to function properly, making wind-cold-dampness easy to remove. Use Liben Tang (Regulate Root Decoction): Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma, 1 qian), Baizhu (Atractylodes Macrocephala Rhizome, 5 qian), Maidong (Ophiopogon Tuber, 3 qian), Shanyao (Dioscorea Rhizome, 5 qian), Qianshi (Euryale Seed, 5 qian), Bajitian (Morinda Officinalis Root, 3 qian), Rougui (Cinnamon Twig, 1 qian), Jiegeng (Platycodon Root, 5 fen), Beimu (Fritillaria Bulb, 5 fen), Baijiezi (White Mustard Seed, 2 qian), Fangji (Stephania Root, 3 fen), Fuling (Poria, 3 qian), Gancao (Licorice Root, 1 qian). Decoct in water and take orally. After four doses, Upper, Middle, and Lower Jiao Qi connect, and whole-body illness resolves. Four more doses cure all symptoms.
This formula fully supports Lung, Kidney, and Spleen-Stomach Qi, while lightly addressing wind-cold-dampness, which correctly addresses the root, with branch treatment included internally. Moreover, it contains herbs that purge pathogens, hence its miraculous efficacy.
This condition can also use Fanggui Shuling San (Wind-Dispelling Cinnamon-Poria Powder): Baizhu (Atractylodes Macrocephala Rhizome), Fuling (Poria), Fangfeng (Saposhnikovia Root) (each 5 qian), Bajitian (Morinda Officinalis Root, 3 qian), Rougui (Cinnamon Twig, 1 qian), Guizhi (Cinnamon Twig, 8 fen), Tianhuafen (Trichosanthes Root), Huangqi (Astragalus Root) (each 2 qian). Decoct in water and take orally.
A person experiences wandering pain in the chest, back, hands, feet, waist, and spine, coming and going. The head feels heavy and cannot be lifted. Sputum is thick and sticky, saliva drools from the mouth corner, and there is noise in the throat when lying down. People consider this Bi syndrome and suggest Kongyan Dan (Control Phlegm-Detoxification Pill), but this is incorrect. Although Bi syndrome combines wind-cold-dampness, if a person's Qi and Blood are not deficient, how can these pathogens enter? Their entry exploits Qi-Blood deficiency. One cannot merely treat the pathogen without tonifying the healthy Qi. Kongyan Dan uses Gansui (Kansui Root) and Daji (Euphorbia Root) to expel pathogens but lacks Qi-Blood tonics. Using it for Bi often fails or worsens the condition due to this flaw. The method should tonify healthy Qi while assisting pathogen expulsion, ensuring victory. Use Buzheng Zhuxie Tang (Tonify Righteousness Expel Pathogen Decoction): Baizhu (Atractylodes Macrocephala Rhizome, 5 qian), Yiren (Coix Seed, 5 qian), Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma, 1 qian), Guizhi (Cinnamon Twig, 3 fen), Fuling (Poria, 1 liang), Baijiezi (White Mustard Seed, 3 qian). Decoct in water and take orally. Lightens after two doses, cures after ten doses.
Baizhu, Yiren, Renshen, and Fuling are herbs that strengthen the Spleen, tonify Qi, and promote water drainage to remove dampness. Although Bi syndrome involves wind-cold-dampness, dampness is usually predominant. Dampness in meridians and intestines is hardest to differentiate; expelling dampness causes wind-cold to disperse naturally, requiring only a small amount of Guizhi (Cinnamon Twig). Since Shen, Zhu, Yi, and Ling strengthen Earth and drain dampness, phlegm concern is alleviated. However, wind-cold-dampness often relies on phlegm for support, so treating Bi requires treating phlegm. Using Baijiezi (White Mustard Seed) clears phlegm in the diaphragm and elsewhere. Once phlegm is cleared, wind-cold-dampness has no hiding place and cannot gather. As righteous Qi grows daily, recovery follows. Some ask: Since Bi stems from Qi-Blood deficiency, why not tonify both? Why only Qi-tonifying herbs and no Blood-tonics? Because abundant Qi generates Blood. Blood is substantial and slow to regenerate; waiting hinders rapid Qi generation. Tonifying Qi exclusively to dispel wind-cold-dampness is faster.
This condition can also use Zishi Tang (Self-Comfort Decoction): Huangqi (Astragalus Root), Baishao (White Peony Root), Danggui (Angelica Sinensis Root), Fuling (Poria) (each 5 qian), Chenpi (Citrus Reticulata Pericarp, 5 fen), Banxia (Pinellia Tuber), Qianghuo (Notopterygium Rhizome), Gancao (Licorice Root) (each 1 qian), Chaihu (Bupleurum Root, 2 qian), Jiegeng (Platycodon Root, 5 fen). Decoct in water and take orally.
A person has extremely hot muscles, a sensation of mice running on the body, cracked lips and mouth that retract over time, and entire body skin/hair turning red-black. People diagnose Heat Bi (Heat Bi: Bi syndrome characterized by heat signs). However, Bi syndrome is formed by wind-cold-dampness; "Heat Bi" is not an addition to these three. This is extreme heat generating wind, resembling Bi but not being Bi. Treatment should clear Yangming (Yangming: Stomach and Large Intestine channels/organ systems) heat and slightly disperse wind; dampness need not be treated. Cold is irrelevant as heat excludes cold. Use Huayan Tang (Transform Inflammation Decoction): Xuanshen (Scrophularia Root, 1 liang), Ganjuhua (Chrysanthemum Flower, 5 qian), Maidong (Ophiopogon Tuber, 5 qian), Shengma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma, 3 qian), Lingyangjiao (Antelope Horn, 5 fen, sliced), Shengdi (Rehmannia Root, 5 qian), Jingjie (Schizonepeta Spike, 3 qian, fried). Decoct in water and take orally. Two doses reduce heat; four more doses cure all symptoms.
Xuanshen, Ju Hua, Sheng Di, and Mai Dong clear Yangming fire and cool Lung Metal heat, as the Lung governs skin and hair. Treating only Stomach and Lung might clear internal heat but not external heat. Thus, Shengma and Jingjie guide heat outward, preventing internal disturbance of the Heart Spirit. External cooling ensures internal comfort. Lingyangjiao (Antelope Horn) disperses fire toxicity and guides herbs to the lips/mouth, preventing retraction and cracking. Some ask: Why not use Shigao (Gypsum) and Zhimu (Anemarrhena Rhizome) to purge Yangming fire? Because heat manifesting externally on skin/lips/muscles requires guiding it out. Strong cold herbs would drive heat downward, preventing expulsion via Shengma/Jingjie. Hence, Xuanshen and Ju Hua are preferred to supplement and release exterior fire.
This condition can also use Liangzhi San (Cool Limbs Powder): Fuling (Poria), Yiren (Coix Seed), Xuanshen (Scrophularia Root) (each 5 qian), Gancao (Licorice Root), Shengma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma) (each 1 qian), Chao Jingjie (Fried Schizonepeta Spike, 1 qian), Ganju (Chrysanthemum Flower, 3 qian), Maidong (Ophiopogon Tuber, 3 qian), Tianhuafen (Trichosanthes Root, 2 qian). Decoct in water and take orally.
A person suffers from knee and foot pain, difficulty walking, and skin/flesh feeling cold down to the bone. People diagnose Cold Bi (Cold Bi: Bi syndrome characterized by cold pain). Calling it Cold Bi aligns with wind-cold-dampness principles. Among these three pathogens, cold is severe here. Inviting Northern Cold Water energy, it invades the marrow, representing extreme Yin cold, which only extreme Yang heat can overcome. However, extreme Yang heat risks drying up extreme Yin water before cold is expelled. If True Water dries, Evil Water floods; with Evil Water盛 and Cold Wind aiding, Bi cannot heal. Use Zhenhuo Tang (True Fire Decoction): Baizhu (Atractylodes Macrocephala Rhizome, 5 qian), Bajitian (Morinda Officinalis Root, 1 liang), Fuzi (Prepared Aconite Root, 1 qian), Fangfeng (Saposhnikovia Root, 1 qian), Niuxi (Achyranthes Root, 3 qian), Shihu (Dendrobium Stem, 3 qian), Biba (Dioscorea Hypoglauca Rhizome, 2 qian), Fuling (Poria, 3 qian). Decoct in water and take orally. Four doses warm skin/flesh; four more heat the marrow; four more relieve knee/foot pain; four more restore normal gait.
Bajitian (Morinda Officinalis Root) is the sovereign herb; tonifying Fire is also tonifying Water. Assistive herbs complement each other. Avoiding Rougui (Cinnamon Twig) and Danggui (Angelica Sinensis Root) to warm Blood is meaningful. Tonifying Qi generates Essence fastest; rapid Essence generation warms Marrow quickly. Blood-warming herbs are sluggish and hinder speed. Biba (Dioscorea Hypoglauca Rhizome) traditionally opposes Fangfeng (Saposhnikovia Root), but their mutual inhibition creates synergy, working together harmoniously.
A person has rebellious Liver Qi, pulling pain in the chest/diaphragm, frequent fright during sleep, loss of appetite, acid regurgitation with vomiting, and tendon/spasm contraction. People diagnose Liver Bi (Liver Bi: Bi syndrome affecting the Liver channel). While it is Liver Bi, do people understand why the Liver forms Bi? Although caused by wind-cold-dampness, it also results from Qi-Blood deficiency. Liver Blood deficiency invites Dampness; Liver Qi deficiency invites Wind; Liver Qi-Blood deficiency invites Cold. These pathogens enter the Liver Channel, worsening Blood deficiency and Qi depletion. Consequently, Liver Hun (Ethereal Soul) cannot reside in the Liver, escaping to cause fright. Diseased Liver Channel cannot generate Heart Qi; Heart lacking Blood nourishment cannot generate Stomach Qi. Without Stomach Qi, digestion fails. Forcing food/drink leads to acid regurgitation and vomiting. Food nourishes Zang-Fu; undigested food cannot transform into Essence to nourish tendons, causing spasms. Treatment must not just expel wind-cold-dampness but address Liver Channel Qi-Blood. Use Ganbi San (Liver Bi Powder): Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma, 3 qian), Danggui (Angelica Sinensis Root, 1 liang), Chuanxiong (Ligusticum Rhizome, 5 qian), Daizheshi (Hematitum, 2 qian powder), Qianghuo (Notopterygium Rhizome, 5 fen), Rougui (Cinnamon Twig, 1 qian), Fuling (Poria, 5 qian), Suanzaoren (Ziziphus Jujuba Seed, 3 qian). Decoct in water, mix with Dansha (Cinnabar) and Daizheshi powder, and take orally. One dose stops fright; two doses relieve chest pain and reverse Liver Qi rebellion; four more doses cure acid regurgitation/vomiting and relax tendons.
Danggui and Chuanxiong generate Blood; Renshen tonifies Qi to open Blood; Daizheshi guides Liver Qi, assisting Chuanxiong/Danggui. With Qi opened and Blood flowing, pathogens exit. Rougui repels cold; Fuling drains dampness; Qianghuo removes wind, preventing pathogen retention and Hun disorder. Suanzaoren (Ziziphus Jujuba Seed) and Dansha (Cinnabar) rapidly calm fright.
This condition can also use Ershu Jiubi Yin (Two Atractylodes Rescue Bi Drink): Baizhu (Atractylodes Macrocephala Rhizome), Baishao (White Peony Root), Fushen (Poria with Hostwood) (each 5 qian), Chenpi (Citrus Reticulata Pericarp), Rougui (Cinnamon Twig), Chaihu (Bupleurum Root) (each 1 qian), Zhike (Aurantii Fructus Immaturus, 5 fen), Yuanzhi (Polygala Root), Baijiezi (White Mustard Seed), Cangzhu (Atractylodes Lancea Rhizome) (each 3 qian). Decoct in water and take orally.
A person experiences restless cough, chest/diaphragm blockage, incessant sputum, upper Qi fullness/distension, inability to descend. People diagnose Lung Bi (Lung Bi: Bi syndrome affecting the Lung). Everyone ignores that Lung Bi stems from Qi deficiency. The Lung is the Minister Official, governing regulation, commanding all Qi in the body, reaching every meridian and organ. Qi fills the Lung, and the Lung masters Qi. Lung disease causes Qi disease, and Qi disease causes Lung disease. Thus, Lung Bi is Qi Bi. Treating Lung Bi without treating Qi is impossible. Although the Lung governs Qi, Qi-tonifying herbs cannot enter the Lung directly; one must tonify Spleen-Stomach Qi to generate Lung Qi. Only Spleen-Stomach Earth generates Lung Qi. However, the Heart controls the Lung; the Liver opposes the Lung; the Kidney consumes Lung Qi. One organ generating Qi cannot counter multiple organs consuming it, explaining why Qi easily declines and pathogens easily enter. Furthermore, Spleen-Stomach Earth can secretly injure Lung Metal. Food entering the Stomach relies on Spleen-Stomach Qi to transfer to the Lung. If Spleen-Stomach contracts wind-cold-dampness, pathogens follow Qi to the Lung, injuring it. Anger causes Liver Qi to rebel against the Lung; excessive desire causes Kidney Qi to rebel against the Lung. Lung Qi injury allows wind-cold-dampness to fill Lung orifices, forming Bi. Use Feibi Tang (Lung Bi Decoction): Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma, 3 qian), Fuling (Poria, 3 qian), Baizhu (Atractylodes Macrocephala Rhizome, 5 qian), Baishao (White Peony Root, 5 qian), Zi Su Ye (Perilla Leaf, 2 qian), Banxia (Pinellia Tuber, 1 qian), Chenpi (Citrus Reticulata Pericarp, 1 qian), Zhike (Aurantii Fructus Immaturus, 3 qian). Decoct in water and take orally. Two doses calm cough; two more open blockage; ten doses cure all symptoms.
Some argue: Renshen tonifies Qi, but excessive use may aid pathogens. Why is it suitable? Lung Bi stems from Qi deficiency, not excess. Renshen fears excess but not deficiency. Additionally, Zi Su Ye treats wind, Banxia eliminates dampness, and Rougui dispels cold, leaving no room for pathogens.
