第三节四肢部疾病的刺血验方
Treatment of 62 cases showed that 40 cases were markedly effective, 22 cases improved, with satisfactory results. The acupoint suction device is a specially made glass apparatus; a small teapot or fetal head suction cup can also be used as substitutes. A rubber tube is fitted onto the spout of the pot. During use, the mouth of the pot is placed on Zhongwan (CV12), and the other end of the rubber tube is connected to a suction device or a 50ml syringe. Air is sucked out of the pot to create negative pressure. The rubber tube is then bent and clamped tightly with a clip to prevent air leakage. At this moment, the patient immediately eats. 15 to 20 minutes after eating, the negative pressure is released, and the acupoint suction device is removed. It is used once before each meal. In some patients, the efficacy may decrease after 2 to 3 days of use, possibly due to acupoint fatigue. In such cases, acupuncture at Zusanli (ST36) or ear irrigation with 75% alcohol can be added (Shanghai Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine).
Analysis of the Efficacy of Bloodletting Therapy for Sciatica in 100 Cases
Among 100 cases, 77 were cured, 10 were markedly effective, 9 improved, and 4 were ineffective. For lower back pain, acupoints selected include Yaoshu (BL23), Zhonglvyu (BL25), Baihuanxu (BL30), Shangliao (BL31), Ciliáo (BL32), Xialiao (BL33), and Huantiao (GB30), with 1 to 2 acupoints selected each time. For lower limb pain, acupoints selected include Chengfu (BL36), Yinmen (BL37), Weizhong (BL40), Weiyang (BL39), Yangjiao (GB35), Xuanzhong (GB39), Fuyang (BL59), Qiuxu (GB40), and Kunlun (BL60), with 2 to 4 acupoints selected each time. The initial bloodletting volume should be relatively large to relieve pain effectively. The total bleeding volume from multiple acupoints is 50 to 60 ml initially, reduced to 10 to 30 ml subsequently (Chinese Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine).
Special Discussion on the Prevention and Treatment of Acute Mastitis
Simple therapies include: external application of fermented flour, manual milk expression with cotton pad compression and support, external treatment for nipple wind (application of Shengji San mixed with appropriate liquid), internal resolution simple prescription (Juhé 30g, sweet wine 30ml, distilled water 200ml, concentrated over gentle heat to 100ml, 20ml per dose, twice daily), simple breast pump, and bloodletting therapy by needling Shaose (SI1) (Shanghai Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine).
Plum-blossom Needle Tapping for Hypogalactia
Using a plum-blossom needle, tap starting from Tiantu (CV22) along the Ren Mai (Conception Vessel) to Jiwei (CV15). Additionally, tap from Yufu (KI27) along the Foot-Shaoyin Kidney Meridian to Bulang (KI17) (Collection of Acupuncture Prescriptions).
Introduction to Treating Malaria by Needling Red Spots
Treating malaria by needling red spots on the back yields satisfactory results. Red spots can appear anywhere on the patient's back but do not protrude above the skin surface. Spots appearing shortly after malaria onset are bright red, while those persisting longer turn dark brown. After locating the red spot, disinfect the area locally. With the left hand, pinch the skin at the red spot. With the right hand, use a coarse sewing needle to pierce the red spot, extract white thread-like substances inside, continue piercing until all white threads are removed, and stop when bleeding occurs from the spot (Jiangsu Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine).
For treating lumbar spine pain extending to the head, characterized by stiffness and discomfort, and for heavy, painful sensations in the waist and legs, bloodletting at this location can instantly cure chronic conditions (Zisheng Jing). The acupoint is Weizhong (BL40) (Puji Fang · Acupuncture).
In Liver Malaria, the patient appears pale, sighs frequently, and looks as if dying. Prick the Foot-Jueyin Liver Meridian until blood appears.
In Stomach Malaria, the patient feels ill and hungry but cannot eat. After eating, the abdomen becomes distended and enlarged. Prick the transverse vessels of the Foot-Yangming Stomach and Foot-Taiyin Spleen meridians until blood appears (Neijing · Ci N Pian).
Bloodletting with a Three-edged Needle for Mastitis
The puncture site is approximately 1.5 cun lateral to the spinous processes of the 5th to 7th thoracic vertebrae. Most patients have small red dots resembling papules, sized like millet grains, at this location. If no such dot is present, locate the tender point. After routine disinfection of the reactive point on the back ipsilateral to the inflamed breast, prick three points in a triangular pattern using a three-edged needle. Apply a cupping jar to this area for 15 to 30 minutes. Fifty cases were treated with satisfactory results (Jilin Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine).
Preliminary Clinical Observation of the Efficacy of Plum-blossom Needle Therapy for Chronic Bronchitis in 50 Cases
Plum-blossom needle therapy for chronic bronchitis shows certain effects. In an observation of 50 cases, 14 were controlled recently, 10 were markedly effective, 20 improved, and 3 were ineffective, with an effective rate of 94%, and 54% showing marked effectiveness or better. The average time for improvement of main symptoms (cough, sputum, wheezing) was: cough 3.17 days, sputum 3.24 days, wheezing 3.12 days (New Medical Communication).
Cupping Therapy as the Main Treatment for Chronic Bronchitis
Acupoint Cupping Method: Applying fire cups, water cups, bamboo cups, or needle-drug cups at relevant acupoints for chronic bronchitis also yields good results. Commonly used acupoints include Dazhui (GV14), Dazhu (BL11), Fengmen (BL12), Dingchuan (EX-B1), Feishu (BL13), Xinshu (BL15), Zhongfu (LU1), and Yunmen (LU2). Generally, cups are retained for 15 to 20 minutes, 4 to 6 cups applied each time, with a course of treatment lasting 6 to 15 days. The effective rate is 85.2% to 95.8%, with 49.39% to 55.6% showing marked effectiveness or better. In an observation of 74 cases, it was particularly effective for stopping cough and resolving phlegm. Nearly half of the asthmatic type patients showed significant anti-wheezing effects, and 70% of cases began to improve in main symptoms within 5 days (Jiangsu Medical Journal).
Efficacy Analysis of Water Cupping Therapy for Chronic Bronchitis in 479 Cases
The therapeutic effect of water cupping is related to the liquid used. At the same treatment point, 28 patients were divided into two groups: one group of 16 received traditional Chinese medicine liquid, and the other group of 12 did not. After one course of treatment, there was a significant difference in efficacy between the two groups, with the group receiving TCM liquid showing better results (New Medicine and Pharmacy Journal).
Bamboo cup therapy generally uses more acupoints, and its therapeutic effect is similar to that of fire cups. Additionally, needling followed by fire cupping at the needled sites has good effects on acute and chronic bronchitis and acute tonsillitis (Progress in Acupuncture Research).
Pricking Therapy for Bronchial Asthma
Pricking Chongyi Acupoint (5 fen lateral to Chonggu Acupoint below the spinous process of the 6th cervical vertebra) and Chuanxi Acupoint with a three-edged needle, once every 3 to 5 days, with 10 sessions constituting one course of treatment. Thirty cases of bronchial asthma were treated: 16 were markedly effective (asthma stopped after treatment, able to participate in labor, no recurrence for at least one year), 6 improved (asthma did not completely stop but severity decreased, recurrence frequency reduced, occasional minor attacks occurred), and 8 showed no obvious improvement (Jiangsu Medical Journal).
Shaoyang pathogenic factors causing lower back pain: If needling is performed in the skin, the patient experiences stiffness and cannot bend forward or backward, nor look around. Prick the end of the Chenggu bone to bleed. Chenggu refers to the prominent bone on the lateral side of the knee. Bleeding should be avoided in summer (Neijing · Ci Yao Tong Lun Pian).
Chenggu Acupoint: Indications include lower back pain, Guan Kou Ju, and Zuo Ma Yong. Needling method: Superficial pricking to induce bleeding (Atlas of Extra-Acupoint Formations).
Hypogalactia refers to insufficient milk secretion postpartum, failing to meet the infant's needs. This condition is common and generally classified into two types: Qi and Blood Deficiency, and Liver Qi Stagnation. Acupuncture and moxibustion yield good results. Acupoints selected: Zusanli (ST36), Hegu (LI4), Rugen (ST18), Shaose (SI1), and Danzhong (CV17). For poor appetite, add Zhongwan (CV12); for insomnia, add Sanyinjiao (SP6). Zusanli and Hegu are needled only, without moxibustion. Danzhong and Rugen receive both needling and moxibustion. Shaose is pricked for bloodletting plus moxibustion. Once daily, needles retained for 15 to 20 minutes, 7 sessions constitute one course of treatment (Progress in Acupuncture Research).
Pricking Therapy for Acute Mastitis
Clinically, the pricking method involves selecting areas 5 cun lateral to the spinous processes of the 4th to 10th thoracic vertebrae on the back. For left-sided disease, treat the right side; for right-sided disease, treat the left side. Specific method: Locate subcutaneous hemorrhagic points on the healthy side of the back. If no hemorrhagic point is found, rub the skin to induce redness. Prick the reddest area until bleeding occurs. Insert the needle 2 fen deep, pricking 1 to 3 areas at a time (Red Doctor Magazine).
Rapid Needling Combined with Fire Cupping for Mastitis
This method is also very effective. First, needle the corresponding points on the back for the breast. Upon finding a numb and distending sensation, rapidly withdraw the needle and immediately apply a fire cup at the needling site to induce slight bleeding (Shanxi Medical Journal).
Acupuncture for Pertussis
All 40 cases were cured (23 cases needed 2 sessions, 15 cases needed 3 sessions, 2 cases needed 5 sessions). Group 1 acupoints: Bilateral Feishu (BL13) and Fengmen (BL12). Group 2 acupoints: Bilateral Shaoshang (LU11) and Shangyang (LI1). Group 3 acupoints: Bilateral Quchi (LI11) and Shangqiu (SP9). For Group 1, light stimulation technique is used, twirling without retaining needles, followed by cupping. For Group 2, a three-edged needle is used for superficial pricking to bleed, inserted about 0.5 fen (size of a millet grain), stopping when blood appears. Pricking should be light, shallow, and fast, avoiding excessive bleeding. For Group 3, heavy stimulation technique is used, twirling without retaining needles. All treatments are administered once daily (China Acupuncture and Moxibustion).
Pathogenic factors invading the collateral of the Foot-Shaoyin Kidney Meridian cause sudden heart pain, sudden distension, and fullness in the chest and hypochondrium. In cases without accumulation, prick anterior to Ran Gu (KI7) to bleed. Symptoms resolve as quickly as it takes to finish a meal (Neijing · Miao Ci Lun Pian).

(2) Water Cup: ① Preparation of cup liquid: Baijiezi 30g, Xixin 30g, Xuanyan 30g, Gansui 9g, ground into fine powder, soaked in 500ml of 75% alcohol for one week, filtered before use. ② Acupoint Selection: Divided into three groups. Group 1: Dingchuan (Left, Right); Group 2: Feishu (Left, Right); Group 3: Zhongchuan (Left, Right). ③ Operation Method: Grind off the bottom of used penicillin or streptomycin vials to make small cups. Fill each small cup with 0.5ml of water cup liquid. Quickly press the cup vertically onto the skin at the acupoint without spilling the liquid. Use a 20ml syringe to insert the needle vertically through the bottle cap, extracting air to create negative pressure. The water cup adheres to the acupoint. When the local skin is raised to a certain height, remove the needle. After 20 to 30 minutes, when a deep red halo appears on the skin inside the cup, remove the small cup. Select one group of acupoints daily, rotating groups every 3 days. Each acupoint is treated 5 times per rotation, totaling 15 sessions for one course of treatment.
