One method: Do not sleep with your mouth open; doing so for a long time may lead to Xiao Ke (Wasting and Thirsting Syndrome, characterized by polydipsia, polyphagia, polyuria, and emaciation) and blood loss. Chisongzi said: When lying down, close your eyes and regulate your breathing, practicing twelve times, to treat indigestion.
Another method: Loosen your clothes and lie on your back, extend your waist, perform "Nu" (a technique of bearing down or straining), massage the lower abdomen, and stop after five breaths. This method guides Kidney Qi, eliminates Xiao Ke, and benefits Yin and Yang. "Loosening clothes" removes physical obstructions; "lying on your back" eliminates external distractions, facilitating the flow of Qi; "extending the waist" prevents compression of the Kidneys; "performing Nu" involves significant straining to fill the body with Qi; "massaging the lower abdomen" refers to drawing Qi through the abdomen during straining; maintain this for five breaths. "Guiding Kidney Qi" means guiding fluids up to swallow, moistening only the upper part, thereby removing the dryness associated with Xiao Ke; "benefiting Yin and Yang" increases physical strength. The number of repetitions should be adjusted according to the season, avoiding periods immediately after eating or when extremely hungry. Dao Yin (guided breathing and movement exercises) should not be practiced during these two times as it harms the body. Also avoid inauspicious days and periods of climatic imbalance. Walk one hundred and twenty steps before practice, or up to one thousand steps, then eat. Principles: Avoid food that is too cold or too hot; ensure the Five Flavors are balanced; do not consume stale, spoiled, leftover, or contaminated food. Chew food thoroughly and swallow slowly. Do not sleep immediately after eating. This is called the harmony of Grain Qi and Harmonious Qi, which is true good medicine.
One method: Squat and settle the mind, curl both hands and press downward toward the Heart area, shake the arms left and right, alternately tilt the body, exhaust the arm's potential, curl the head to strike the abdomen, and direct both hands toward the Mai vessels down to below the umbilicus. Repeat this back and forth seven times multiplied by three (twenty-one times). Gradually alleviate abdominal distension, urgency, stifling sensation, and indigestion.
One method: If there is abdominal distension and blockage, exhale through the mouth thirty times, then stop.
One method: If the abdomen is full and feels overly satiated, sit upright with an erect waist, inhale air through the mouth dozens of times, hold until full, then exhale. Stop when relief is achieved; if not relieved, repeat. Practice this if there is Cold Qi or abdominal discomfort.
One method: Sit upright with an erect waist, inhale air through the mouth dozens of times. This dispels abdominal fullness, overeating, Cold-Heat disorders, and abdominal pain.
One method: Extend both hands to the sides of the body, leaning to one side, exhausting the posture. Direct Qi from the crown and feet to scatter downward, as if rotting matter dissolving. Straighten and extend the palm fingers; do the same on both sides. Repeat back and forth seven times multiplied by three (twenty-one times). Then straighten the body and rotate the arms and waist forward and backward seven times. This removes abdominal distension, bladder issues, coldness in the waist and spine, coldness in the arms, tightness of blood vessels, and palpitations.
One method: If the abdomen is full due to food and drink, suffering from satiety, sit upright with an erect waist, inhale ten times through the mouth. Stop when relieved; if not, repeat.
One method: The Spleen governs Earth and is warm like human flesh. If you have just induced sweating, this helps expel Wind-Cold pathogenic factors. If there is Qi distension in the abdomen, first warm the feet, then massage the upper and lower body and the Qihai (Sea of Qi, CV6) acupoint. There is no limit to the number of repetitions; more is better. Begin by rotating left then right while standing. When the Seven Qi harmonize, utilize the fifteen internal methods of the waist and body to rotate the three hundred and sixty bone joints, rub the arteries and tendons, distribute Qi and Blood, harmonize the Twenty-Four Qi, moisten the Zang-Fu organs, and equalize Qi. Use head shaking and vibration, guide Hand Qi upward, and Heart Qi downward, clearly distinguishing their paths without mixing. With flat hands, tilt the waist, turn the body, and massage the converging Qi. Rotate to exhaust the Heart Qi and scatter it, sending it to the Yongquan (Gushing Spring, KI1) acupoints twice, ensuring the degree of Qi circulation is not lost. This is beneficial. Those who do not understand how to use it may experience chaotic Qi.
