痛，浓煎汤，热含吐之，漱口勿咽。治瘰 结核坚肿，痈疽，乳难，乳痈未溃，头疡白秃，与白蔹、赤小豆为
末，鸡子白调涂，干即易之。一切风疽，疝瘕，血凝肿坠，及风湿皮肤麻痹，煎汤淋洗，杀虫鱼，不入汤药。
败酱
败酱苦咸化脓水，肠痈痔 能消补，逐瘀破 祛痹风，最益妇人陈良甫。
出近道。叶似 ，丛生，花黄，根似柴胡，色紫，作陈败豆酱气。微寒，无毒。能化脓为水。消肠痈，
补痔 ，一切疮痍疥癣，丹毒暴热，火疮赤气，马鞍热气，除痈肿、浮肿、结热，破多年凝血，消 结，治风
毒、痿痹。陈良甫云∶即苦荠菜，最益妇人。治血气心痛，赤白带下，催生落胎，产后血晕，烦渴腹痛，胎前
后诸病，皆治之。兼治赤眼，障目 肉， 耳，鼻洪吐血。八月采根，干，日锉碎，和甘草叶相拌，蒸半日，去
甘草晒用。
酸酱
酸浆气寒一味酸，退热利水治产难，另有三叶酸浆草，止渴通淋带下安， 恶疮频捣催，杀虫孩子可
常餐。
天下有之，苗似水茄而小，叶亦可食，实作房如囊，囊中有子如梅李大，赤黄色，味如酸浆。微寒，无毒。
主热烦满，定志益气，利水道，难产吞其实立下。其根如菹芹，白色，绝苦，捣汁饮治黄病多效。五月采，阴干。
三叶酸浆，又名酢浆草。生道傍下湿地，叶如水萍丛生，茎端三叶，叶间生细黄花，俗名酸车草。南人用揩
石器令白如银，味酸，寒，无毒。主解热渴，诸淋涩痛，妇人赤白带下，捣敷 恶疮，杀诸小虫。嫩叶，小
儿食之可除热。夏月采叶，阴干。
营实
营实酸平即蔷薇，疗诸痈毒恶疮痍，根治金疮伤挞肉，血痢肠风疳瘦儿。
即蔷薇子。白花者良，无毒。主痈疽发背，恶疮，疮疖溃烂疼痛，结肉趺筋，败疮热气，阴蚀不瘳，头疡
白秃。利关节，久服益气轻身。根，味苦、涩，冷，无毒。主热毒风、痈疽、恶癞、疥癣、金疮伤挞，生肉复
肌，及口舌生疮，箭镞鲠刺不出，牙齿疼痛。又治五脏客热，除邪逆气，通血脉，止赤白痢，肠风下血，小儿疳
虫，腹痛疳痢。八九月采，去根，粗布拭去黄毛，细锉，浆水拌蒸一宿，晒干用。
梁上尘
梁上尘能消软疖，又止中恶鼻衄血，兼消腹痛噎难通，安胎催生脬系戾。
又名乌龙尾。性平，无毒。主痈毒，阴肿，妇人妒乳，小儿头疮软疖，醋和敷之。中恶，鼻衄，腹痛，
噎膈，妇人胎动欲产，横生倒产及转脬小便不通，并酒调服之。又自缢死，取末吹两耳鼻中即活。凡使，须去
烟火远。高堂殿上者，拂下筛用之。
东壁土
东壁土取向朝阳，敷诸痈癣及脱肛，疟痢泄泻多烦闷，药伤毒中尽堪尝。
以一壁论之，外一面向东，常先见晓日，得初阳少火之气，若向南者，则壮火食气，故专用向东者，多
年被烟熏者尤好。气温，无毒。主背痈疮疖，干湿癣，豌豆疮，为末敷之；或生姜汁调涂，加黄柏少许。又主
下部疮，脱肛，小儿脐风疮。治瘟疟、泄痢赤白、腹内绞痛、霍乱烦闷，服药过剂及中毒烦闷欲死，水调服之。
又解诸药毒，肉毒，合口椒毒，野菌毒。
以上治疮毒通用。
冬灰 即浣衣黄灰。烧诸蒿藜积聚炼作之，今用灰多杂薪，蒸乃不善。《衍义》云∶诸灰一烘而成，惟冬
灰则经三四月方彻，炉灰晓夕烧灼，其力燥烈而体重，今一 而成者，体轻力劣，故不及冬灰。味辛，微温。
和锻石熬
煎，以点 肉，疽蚀疥瘙。去黑子疣赘，不可广用，烂人皮肉。桑柴灰，入药绝奇。一方取鳖一个，治如食法，
以桑灰汁煎如泥，和诸 瘕药重煎堪丸，众手丸如梧子大，日服十五丸， 瘕 癖无不愈者。或单淋汁服之，
亦去风血 一块、水肿。锻铁炉中灰，兼得铁力，故主 瘕坚积有效。灶中热灰，和醋熨心腹冷气痛及血
气绞痛，冷即易。
百草灰 端午日采露取之一百种，阴干，烧灰，以井花水为丸，重烧令白，以醋和为饼，腋下挟之，干
即易，当抽一身痛闷，疮出即止。以小便洗之，不过三度，腋臭自无，又主金疮，止血生肌，取灰和锻石为丸，
烧令白，刮敷之。
不灰木 出上党，石类也。其色青白如烂木，烧之不燃，或云即滑石根也。若要烧灰，砍破以牛乳煮了，
更以黄牛粪烧之成灰。大寒。主热痱疮，和枣叶、锻石，为粉敷之。
卢甘石 《本草》不载，《局方》治眼以之为君。轻白如羊脑，不夹石者佳。用砂罐一盛一盖，于炭火
中令通赤，以童便或黄连水淬之，再 再淬九次，细研水飞过用。
姜石 所在有之，生不见日色土石间，状如姜，有五色，惟白者良。味咸，寒，无毒，疗疔肿，乳痈，
发背，豌豆疮，并火 醋淬为末，鸡子清或醋调敷之效。大凡石类多主痈疽。
绿青 即石绿。出信州有铜处，生山之阴，其中青白花文可爱，即画工用作绿色者，土人以为妇女服饰。
入药当用颗块如乳香，不夹石者佳。味酸，寒，无毒。主益气，疗鼽鼻，止泄痢。今医用吐风涎虽验，亦能损
心。细研水飞。
白青 生豫章山谷。今空青圆如铁珠，色白而腹不空者是也。研之色白而碧，亦谓之碧青，不入画用，无空
青时亦用之。味甘、酸、咸，平，无毒。主心下邪气令人吐，杀诸毒三虫，利九窍，治耳聋，明目通神，轻身
不老。
扁青 蜀郡者块大如拳，其色青，腹中亦时有空者；武昌者块小扁而色更佳。味甘，平，无毒。主折跌痈
肿，金疮不瘳。治目痛，破积聚，解毒瓦斯，利精神，去寒热风痹，及丈夫茎中百病，内绝益精，令人有子。
久服轻身不老。
肤青 生益州。味辛、咸，平，无毒。主蛊毒及蛇菜肉诸毒，诸恶疮。不可久服，令人瘦。
降真香 和诸香烧之，直上天，召鹤盘旋于上。味温平，无毒。主天行时气怪异，烧之避邪恶之气也。
薰陆香 出天竺国，树生于砂中，盛夏树液流出，状如桃胶，黄白色，合香家要药。微温，疗恶疮及风水
毒肿，去恶气、中恶邪气、伏尸。治齿虫痛不可忍。《图经》云∶治肾气，补腰膝，疗霍乱，治血止痛。制同
乳香。
鸡舌香 出昆仑。采花酿之成香。合香家要用，不止入药。味辛，温，无毒。疗风水毒肿，去恶气，止霍
乱心痛，吹鼻杀脑疳，含口治龋齿、口臭，和黄连、乳汁点目，睛明倍常。
茅香 生剑南道诸州。三月生，苗似大麦，五月开白花。味苦，温，无毒。敷灸疮、金疮，止血定痛。
煎汤止吐血鼻衄，又主中恶，温胃止呕吐，疗心腹冷痛、热淋。苗叶煮作汤浴，辟邪气，令人身香，合诸名香
甚奇。
鼠李 即牛李子也。木高七八丈，叶如李，但狭而不泽，子生于条上四边，生青熟黑，至秋叶落，子尚在
枝，是处有之。味苦，小毒。主寒热瘰 、 疮，日干，九蒸，酒渍服。能下血，除疝瘕，积冷气，治水肿腹
胀。皮主诸疮、寒热毒痹，除身皮热毒。根，主口中疳疮，和蔷薇根煎膏，含咽即瘥，亦可敷背发。煮浓汁含
之，治 齿；服之治疳虫蚀脊。
鹿藿 苗似宛豆，有蔓而差大，根黄而香，人取以为菜，微有豆气，山人谓之鹿豆，亦堪生啖。味苦，平，
无毒。主肠痈、瘰 、疮疡，杀蛊毒，止头痛及女子腰腹痛不乐。五六月采苗，日干。
牛扁 生下湿地。叶似石龙芮，根似秦
艽而细。味苦，寒，无毒。主身皮疮热气，可作浴汤。又主牛病、牛虱。入药用根。
鸢尾 叶似射干而阔短，不抽长茎，布地而生。花紫碧色，根似良姜，皮黄肉白。味苦，平，有毒。主飞
尸蛊毒，邪气鬼疰诸毒。破 瘕，积聚，去水，下三虫，疗头眩，杀鬼魅。十月采根，日干。
韭乌 生大石及木间阴湿处，青翠茸茸，似苔而非苔，长四、五寸。味甘，寒，无毒。主金疮内塞，
疗黄胆，去皮肤寒热往来，利小肠、膀胱气，补中益气，好颜色。烧灰浴发令黑。
蜀羊泉 俗名漆姑叶，似菊花，紫色。子类枸杞子，根如远志，无心有糁。味苦、寒，无毒。主头秃，
恶疮，热气，疥痂癣虫，漆疮，龋齿，女子阴中内伤，皮间实积，小儿惊痫。三四月采苗叶，阴干用。
白兔藿 一名白葛，蔓生，叶圆浓若 ，茎俱有白毛。味苦，平，无毒。主蛇虺、蜂虿、 犬、菜肉、
蛊毒、鬼疰、风疰，诸大毒不可入口者，煮汁饮之，即解。又去皮，可末着痛上，立消。五月采苗叶，日干。
鸭跖草 生平地。叶如竹，高一二尺，花深碧，有角如鸟嘴，故又名碧竹子。花可染色。味苦，寒，
无毒。主痈疽，疔肿，丹毒，瘴疟，热痢，痰饮，狂痫，瘕 ，痞满，气肿，蛇咬。和赤小豆煮，下水气、
湿痹，利便。
鼠尾草 苗如蒿，夏月茎端作四、五穗，若鼠尾。花有赤、白二色，叶堪染皂。味苦，寒，无毒。主
鼠寒热，下痢脓血不止，煎膏服之。白花者主白下，赤花者主赤下。四月采叶，七月采花，阴干用。
蛇含草 处处有之，生下湿地，一茎五叶或七叶。有两种，当用细叶、黄色花者。味苦，寒，无毒。
昔田父见一蛇被伤，一蛇含草着其伤处，经日伤蛇乃去。因取此草捣汁，以敷蛇虺、蜂蜈、疮毒皆验，故名。
又主金疮，疽痔，鼠 ，恶疮，头疡，丹毒，疮肿。兼治惊痫寒热，心腹邪气，腹痛，湿痹，养胎。治产后泄
痢，利小儿。八月采叶，日干。勿令犯火。
金星草 多生背阴木石上，单生一叶，长一二尺，至冬背上生两行相对如金星子。其根盘屈如竹，无花实，
凌冬不凋。五月和根采，风干用，味苦，寒，无毒。主痈疽疮毒，解硫黄、丹石毒。发于背痈肿、结核，酒煎
服之，外为末冷水调涂。石药悉下，然性至冷，服后须补，老人不可轻服。
千金藤 生北地者，根大如指，色黑似漆，生南土者，黄赤如细辛。主痈肿发背，一切血毒诸气，霍乱中
恶，天行瘴疟，虚劳痰嗽不利，蛇犬毒药石发，癫痫蛊毒并宜。煎汤浸酒，治风轻身也。
预知子 出蜀中。蔓生大木上，叶有三角，八月结实，生青熟红，每房有子五七枚，如皂子，斑褐色，
润如飞蛾。冬月采，阴干。味苦。寒，无毒。取二枚缀衣领上，遇蛊毒物即则则有声，故名预如。若中有毒，
去皮为末，水煎服之有效。《日华》云∶主一切病，治风补虚，破 癖气块、天行瘟疫，消宿食，止烦闷，
利水道，催生，杀虫，解诸毒药，敷蛇虫咬。
牙子 其根芽似兽之牙齿。味酸，寒，有毒。主邪气热气，疥瘙恶疡，疮痔阴蚀，金疮蛇毒，水煎洗或
捣敷之。杀寸白、腹脏一切虫，止赤白痢，水煎服之。八月采根，日干。中湿腐烂生衣者杀人。芜荑为使，
恶地榆。
鬼臼 生深山岩谷之阴。叶似蓖麻，初生一茎，茎端一叶两歧，年长一茎，茎枯为一臼，二十年则二十
臼也。三月开赤花，开后结实。根似射干。八月采根，日干。味辛，温，有毒。主蛊毒鬼疰精物，辟邪恶，
解百毒，治传尸劳瘦，止咳嗽喉结，去目中肤翳。不入汤药。
女青 叶圆而臭，两叶相对，结子似瓢，大如枣，根似白薇。味辛，平，有毒。主蛊毒，鬼气，瘟疟，
虫蛇毒。八月采根，阴干。
紫葛 春生冬枯，蔓似葡萄而色紫。八月采根、皮，日干用。味甘、苦，寒，无毒。主痈肿恶 ，为末，
醋和封之。又金疮生肌，破血补损及瘫痪挛急，产后血气冲心，烦渴，并水煎服。
栾华 出汉中，叶似木槿而薄细，花似槐而稍长，堪染黄色，子似豌豆而坚黑，堪为数珠。味苦，寒，无
毒。和黄连煎膏，疗目痛赤烂、泪出伤 ，消目肿，大效。五六月采花，日干。决明为之使。
荩草 生溪涧侧。叶似竹而细薄，茎亦圆小。荆襄人煮以染黄色，甚鲜。《诗》云∶绿竹猗猗是也。味苦，
平，无毒。主痂疥白秃，一切恶疮疡气，杀皮肤小虫。兼治咳喘上气，久寒惊悸。九月采，阴干。畏鼠妇。
积雪草 处处有之。蔓生溪涧侧，叶圆如钱，又谓之地钱草。味苦，寒，无毒。主一切热毒，痈疽肿毒，
恶疮鼠 ，风疹疥癣，浸淫赤 ，皮肤暴热，小儿丹毒寒热，腹内热结，内服外敷。八九月采苗叶，阴干。
坐拿草 生江西。六月开紫花，结实。土人采其苗治打扑，兼壮骨，治风痹。神医普救治风方中已有用者。
荠 出川蜀江浙。春生苗茎，全似人参而叶小异，根似桔梗但无心为异，故名土桔梗。味甘，寒，无毒。
主杀蛊毒，解百药毒，治热狂温疾，丹石发动，封疔肿， 毒箭、蛇虫咬。人家收为果，或蒸作羹菹食之，
利肺气，和中，明目。
黄环 生蜀郡。味苦，平，有毒。主蛊毒鬼疰邪气在脏中，除咳逆寒热。三月采根，阴干。恶茯苓、防己、
干姜。
藿菌 出沧州。形似菌，色白轻虚，表里相似，乃鹳屎所化也。秋雨时即有，天旱及霖即稀。味咸、甘，
平，小毒。主疽蜗恶疮、白癣白秃，止心痛，温中，除腹内冷痛、瘕 ，去长虫、蛲虫、寸白蛔虫，杀蛇、
蜂等毒。日干用。得酒良，畏鸡子。
徐长卿 三月生苗似小桑，两叶相对，七月着子，十月苗枯，根黄似细辛，微粗长而有臊气。味辛，温，
疼痛时，浓煎药汤，趁热含漱后吐出，漱口时不要咽下。治疗瘰疬、结核坚硬肿胀，痈疽，乳房胀痛，乳痈未溃破，头疮白秃，与白蔹、赤小豆研为细末，用鸡蛋清调和涂抹，干了就更换。各种风毒疮疡，疝气积聚，血凝肿胀下垂，以及风湿导致的皮肤麻木，煎汤淋洗，用于杀虫灭鱼，不内服入汤药。
败酱
败酱味苦咸，能化脓水，治疗肠痈痔疮能消补兼施，逐瘀破积祛风痹，最有益妇人（陈良甫语）。
产于近道地区。叶子形状像荠菜，丛生，花黄色，根像柴胡，颜色紫，有陈旧的豆酱气味。性微寒，无毒。能化脓液为水液。消除肠痈，补益痔疮，治疗各种疮疡疥癣，丹毒暴热，火烫伤红肿，马鞍热气，消除痈肿、浮肿、结热，破除多年凝血，消散结块，治疗风毒、痿痹。陈良甫说：就是苦荠菜，最有益于妇人。治疗血气心痛，赤白带下，催生落胎，产后血晕，烦渴腹痛，产前产后各种疾病，都能治疗。兼治红眼，目障胬肉，耳鸣耳聋，鼻出血吐血。八月采挖根部，晒干，每日锉碎，与甘草叶混合拌匀，蒸半天，去掉甘草，晒干使用。
酸浆
酸浆气寒，味道单一酸，退热利水治疗难产，另有三叶酸浆草，止渴通淋安带下，捣敷恶疮频催效，杀虫孩子可常餐。
天下都有生长，苗像水茄但较小，叶子也可食用，果实像房如囊，囊中有子像梅李大，赤黄色，味道像酸浆。性微寒，无毒。主治热烦满，定志益气，利水道，难产吞食其实即可顺利生产。其根像菹芹，白色，极苦，捣汁饮用治疗黄疸病多有效。五月采集，阴干。

鼠李 即牛李子也。木高七八丈，叶如李，但狭而不泽，子生于条上四边，生青熟黑，至秋叶落，子尚在枝，是处有之。味苦，小毒。主寒热瘰 、 疮，日干，九蒸，酒渍服。能下血，除疝瘕，积冷气，治水肿腹胀。皮主诸疮、寒热毒痹，除身皮热毒。根，主口中疳疮，和蔷薇根煎膏，含咽即瘥，亦可敷背发。煮浓汁含之，治 齿；服之治疳虫蚀脊。
鹿藿 苗似宛豆，有蔓而差大，根黄而香，人取以为菜，微有豆气，山人谓之鹿豆，亦堪生啖。味苦，平，无毒。主肠痈、瘰 、疮疡，杀蛊毒，止头痛及女子腰腹痛不乐。五六月采苗，日干。
牛扁 生下湿地。叶似石龙芮，根似秦艽而细。味苦，寒，无毒。主身皮疮热气，可作浴汤。又主牛病、牛虱。入药用根。
鸢尾 叶似射干而阔短，不抽长茎，布地而生。花紫碧色，根似良姜，皮黄肉白。味苦，平，有毒。主飞尸蛊毒，邪气鬼疰诸毒。破 瘕，积聚，去水，下三虫，疗头眩，杀鬼魅。十月采根，日干。
韭乌 生大石及木间阴湿处，青翠茸茸，似苔而非苔，长四、五寸。味甘，寒，无毒。主金疮内塞，疗黄胆，去皮肤寒热往来，利小肠、膀胱气，补中益气，好颜色。烧灰浴发令黑。
蜀羊泉 俗名漆姑叶，似菊花，紫色。子类枸杞子，根如远志，无心有糁。味苦、寒，无毒。主头秃，恶疮，热气，疥痂癣虫，漆疮，龋齿，女子阴中内伤，皮间实积，小儿惊痫。三四月采苗叶，阴干用。
白兔藿 一名白葛，蔓生，叶圆浓若 ，茎俱有白毛。味苦，平，无毒。主蛇虺、蜂虿、 犬、菜肉、蛊毒、鬼疰、风疰，诸大毒不可入口者，煮汁饮之，即解。又去皮，可末着痛上，立消。五月采苗叶，日干。
鸭跖草 生平地。叶如竹，高一二尺，花深碧，有角如鸟嘴，故又名碧竹子。花可染色。味苦，寒，无毒。主痈疽，疔肿，丹毒，瘴疟，热痢，痰饮，狂痫，瘕 ，痞满，气肿，蛇咬。和赤小豆煮，下水气、湿痹，利便。
鼠尾草 苗如蒿，夏月茎端作四、五穗，若鼠尾。花有赤、白二色，叶堪染皂。味苦，寒，无毒。主鼠寒热，下痢脓血不止，煎膏服之。白花者主白下，赤花者主赤下。四月采叶，七月采花，阴干用。
蛇含草 处处有之，生下湿地，一茎五叶或七叶。有两种，当用细叶、黄色花者。味苦，寒，无毒。昔田父见一蛇被伤，一蛇含草着其伤处，经日伤蛇乃去。因取此草捣汁，以敷蛇虺、蜂蜈、疮毒皆验，故名。又主金疮，疽痔，鼠 ，恶疮，头疡，丹毒，疮肿。兼治惊痫寒热，心腹邪气，腹痛，湿痹，养胎。治产后泄痢，利小儿。八月采叶，日干。勿令犯火。
金星草 多生背阴木石上，单生一叶，长一二尺，至冬背上生两行相对如金星子。其根盘屈如竹，无花实，凌冬不凋。五月和根采，风干用，味苦，寒，无毒。主痈疽疮毒，解硫黄、丹石毒。发于背痈肿、结核，酒煎服之，外为末冷水调涂。石药悉下，然性至冷，服后须补，老人不可轻服。
千金藤 生北地者，根大如指，色黑似漆，生南土者，黄赤如细辛。主痈肿发背，一切血毒诸气，霍乱中恶，天行瘴疟，虚劳痰嗽不利，蛇犬毒药石发，癫痫蛊毒并宜。煎汤浸酒，治风轻身也。
预知子 出蜀中。蔓生大木上，叶有三角，八月结实，生青熟红，每房有子五七枚，如皂子，斑褐色，润如飞蛾。冬月采，阴干。味苦。寒，无毒。取二枚缀衣领上，遇蛊毒物即则则有声，故名预如。若中有毒，去皮为末，水煎服之有效。《日华》云∶主一切病，治风补虚，破 癖气块、天行瘟疫，消宿食，止烦闷，利水道，催生，杀虫，解诸毒药，敷蛇虫咬。
牙子 其根芽似兽之牙齿。味酸，寒，有毒。主邪气热气，疥瘙恶疡，疮痔阴蚀，金疮蛇毒，水煎洗或捣敷之。杀寸白、腹脏一切虫，止赤白痢，水煎服之。八月采根，日干。中湿腐烂生衣者杀人。芜荑为使，恶地榆。
鬼臼 生深山岩谷之阴。叶似蓖麻，初生一茎，茎端一叶两歧，年长一茎，茎枯为一臼，二十年则二十臼也。三月开赤花，开后结实。根似射干。八月采根，日干。味辛，温，有毒。主蛊毒鬼疰精物，辟邪恶，解百毒，治传尸劳瘦，止咳嗽喉结，去目中肤翳。不入汤药。
女青 叶圆而臭，两叶相对，结子似瓢，大如枣，根似白薇。味辛，平，有毒。主蛊毒，鬼气，瘟疟，虫蛇毒。八月采根，阴干。
紫葛 春生冬枯，蔓似葡萄而色紫。八月采根、皮，日干用。味甘、苦，寒，无毒。主痈肿恶 ，为末，醋和封之。又金疮生肌，破血补损及瘫痪挛急，产后血气冲心，烦渴，并水煎服。
栾华 出汉中，叶似木槿而薄细，花似槐而稍长，堪染黄色，子似豌豆而坚黑，堪为数珠。味苦，寒，无毒。和黄连煎膏，疗目痛赤烂、泪出伤 ，消目肿，大效。五六月采花，日干。决明为之使。
荩草 生溪涧侧。叶似竹而细薄，茎亦圆小。荆襄人煮以染黄色，甚鲜。《诗》云∶绿竹猗猗是也。味苦，平，无毒。主痂疥白秃，一切恶疮疡气，杀皮肤小虫。兼治咳喘上气，久寒惊悸。九月采，阴干。畏鼠妇。
积雪草 处处有之。蔓生溪涧侧，叶圆如钱，又谓之地钱草。味苦，寒，无毒。主一切热毒，痈疽肿毒，恶疮鼠 ，风疹疥癣，浸淫赤 ，皮肤暴热，小儿丹毒寒热，腹内热结，内服外敷。八九月采苗叶，阴干。
坐拿草 生江西。六月开紫花，结实。土人采其苗治打扑，兼壮骨，治风痹。神医普救治风方中已有用者。
荠 出川蜀江浙。春生苗茎，全似人参而叶小异，根似桔梗但无心为异，故名土桔梗。味甘，寒，无毒。主杀蛊毒，解百药毒，治热狂温疾，丹石发动，封疔肿， 毒箭、蛇虫咬。人家收为果，或蒸作羹菹食之，利肺气，和中，明目。
黄环 生蜀郡。味苦，平，有毒。主蛊毒鬼疰邪气在脏中，除咳逆寒热。三月采根，阴干。恶茯苓、防己、干姜。
藿菌 出沧州。形似菌，色白轻虚，表里相似，乃鹳屎所化也。秋雨时即有，天旱及霖即稀。味咸、甘，平，小毒。主疽蜗恶疮、白癣白秃，止心痛，温中，除腹内冷痛、瘕 ，去长虫、蛲虫、寸白蛔虫，杀蛇、蜂等毒。日干用。得酒良，畏鸡子。
徐长卿 三月生苗似小桑，两叶相对，七月着子，十月苗枯，根黄似细辛，微粗长而有臊气。味辛，温，
Pain, decoct the soup strongly, hold it hot in the mouth and spit it out, rinse the mouth but do not swallow. Treat scrofula (scrofula), tubercles with hard swelling, carbuncles and sores, breast distension and difficulty, mastitis before ulceration, head sores with white alopecia. Mix with Bai Lian (Ampelopsis japonica) and Chi Xiao Dou (Adzuki Bean) into powder, mix with egg white to apply, change when dry. All kinds of wind sores, hernia masses, blood stasis with swelling and dropping, as well as skin numbness due to wind-dampness, decoct for washing, kills fish, not for internal use in decoctions.
Bai Jiang (Patrinia Scabiosifolia)
Bai Jiang is bitter and salty, resolves pus and water, treats intestinal abscesses and hemorrhoids with both reducing and tonifying effects, expels blood stasis, breaks accumulations, dispels bi-syndrome and wind, most beneficial for women (according to Chen Liangfu).
Grows in nearby regions. Leaves resemble Shepherd's Purse, grow in clusters, flowers are yellow, roots resemble Bupleurum, purple in color, with the odor of old fermented bean paste. Slightly cold, non-toxic. Can transform pus into fluid. Eliminates intestinal abscesses, tonifies hemorrhoids, treats all sores, tinea, erysipelas, sudden heat, burns with redness, saddle-heat, eliminates carbuncle swelling, edema, clustered heat, breaks long-standing blood coagulation, dissipates nodules, treats wind-toxicity, flaccidity and bi-syndrome. Chen Liangfu said: It is Ku Qi Cai (Shepherd's Purse), most beneficial for women. Treats blood and qi heart pain, red and white leukorrhea, induces labor and expels fetus, postpartum blood fainting, irritability and thirst, abdominal pain, treats various diseases before and after delivery. Also treats red eyes, eye obstruction and pterygium, tinnitus/deafness, epistaxis and hematemesis. Harvest roots in August, dry, chop daily, mix with Gan Cao Ye (Licorice Leaf), steam for half a day, remove Licorice, dry and use.
Suan Jiang (Physalis alkekengi)
Suan Jiang has cold qi and sour taste, clears heat, promotes urination, treats difficult labor; there is also San Ye Suan Jiang Cao (Oxalis corniculata), stops thirst, promotes urination, calms leukorrhea, frequently mashed for foul sores to induce healing, killing insects, children can eat it often.
Grows everywhere, seedlings resemble Water Eggplant but smaller, leaves are edible, fruits like chambers in sacs, inside are seeds like plum or jujube size, red-yellow, taste like Suan Jiang. Slightly cold, non-toxic. Mainly treats heat, vexation and fullness, stabilizes spirit, benefits qi, promotes water passages, difficult labor swallowing fruit leads to immediate delivery. Roots resemble Zou Qin (Celery-like herb), white, extremely bitter, juice drunk treats jaundice effectively. Harvest in May, shade dry.
San Ye Suan Jiang, also known as Cu Zhang Cao (Oxalis corniculata). Grows in low wetlands by roadsides, leaves grow in clusters like duckweed, stem ends have three leaves, fine yellow flowers grow between leaves, common name Suan Che Cao. Southerners use it to wipe stone tools making them white as silver, sour taste, cold, non-toxic. Mainly resolves heat and thirst, various strangury with painful urination, women's red and white leukorrhea, mashed and applied to foul sores, kills various small insects. Tender leaves, children eating them removes heat. Harvest leaves in summer, shade dry.
Ying Shi (Rosa Laevigata)
Ying Shi is sour and neutral, i.e., Rosa Laevigata, treats various carbuncle toxins and foul sores, roots treat metal wounds and beating injuries flesh, bloody dysentery, intestinal wind, childhood malnutrition and emaciation.
I.e., Rosa Laevigata seeds. White flowers are good, non-toxic. Mainly treats carbuncles and back carbuncles, foul sores, boil ulcers with pain, knotted flesh and tendon rupture, decaying sore heat, genital erosion not healing, head sores with white alopecia. Benefits joints, long-term use benefits qi and lightens the body. Roots, bitter and astringent, cold, non-toxic. Mainly treats heat-toxic wind, carbuncles, leprosy, tinea, metal wounds and beating injuries, generates flesh and restores muscle, as well as mouth and tongue sores, arrowheads or splinters stuck, toothache. Also treats guest-heat in five zang organs, eliminates evil rebellious qi, unblocks blood vessels, stops bloody and white dysentery, intestinal wind bleeding, childhood malnutrition worms, abdominal pain and malnutrition dysentery. Harvest in August-September, remove roots, wipe yellow hairs with coarse cloth, finely chop, mix with rice wash water, steam overnight, sun dry and use.
Liang Shang Chen (Dust from Roof Beams)
Dust from roof beams can eliminate soft boils, also stops Zhong E (sudden evil attack) epistaxis, eliminates abdominal pain and difficulty swallowing, calms fetus, induces labor, corrects bladder ligament torsion.
Also known as Wu Long Wei (Black Dragon Tail). Neutral nature, non-toxic. Mainly treats carbuncle toxins, yin swelling, women's jealous breast milk, children's head sores and soft boils, mix with vinegar and apply. Zhong E, epistaxis, abdominal pain, dysphagia, women's fetal movement wanting to deliver, transverse or breech birth, and inverted bladder with urinary retention, all taken mixed with wine. Also for hanging death, take powder, blow into both ears and nose, immediately alive. When using, must keep away from smoke and fire. From high halls and temples, sweep down and sieve for use.
Dong Bi Tu (Earth from East Wall)
Dong Bi Tu faces the morning sun, applies to various carbuncles, tinea and rectal prolapse, malaria, dysentery, diarrhea with much vexation, drug injury and poison intoxication are all suitable to taste.
Considering one wall, the outer side facing east often sees the dawn sun first, obtaining the qi of early yang and mild fire; if facing south, strong fire consumes qi, so specifically use those facing east, especially those smoked by kitchen fires for many years. Warm nature, non-toxic. Mainly treats back carbuncles, boils, dry and wet tinea, chickenpox, make into powder and apply; or mix with ginger juice and apply, add a little Huang Bo (Phellodendron Bark). Also treats lower body sores, rectal prolapse, children's umbilical wind sores. Treats epidemic malaria, dysentery with red and white discharge, abdominal colic, cholera with vexation, excessive medication and poison intoxication with vexation wanting to die, mix with water and take. Also resolves various drug poisons, meat poison, clove pepper poison, wild mushroom poison.
The above are generally used for treating sore toxins.
Dong Hui (Winter Ash) i.e., Laundry Yellow Ash. Made by burning various artemisia and chenopodium accumulations, nowadays ash often mixes with firewood, steaming is not good. "Yan Yi" says: Various ashes are made in one baking, only Dong Hui takes three to four months to complete, furnace ash burned day and night, its power is drying and fierce and weight heavy, nowadays what is made quickly is light in weight and inferior in power, thus not as good as Dong Hui. Pungent taste, slightly warm. Mixed with Duan Shi (Calcined Alun) and boiled, to cauterize warts, carbuncle erosion and tinea prurigo. Removes black spots and warts, cannot be widely used, rots human skin and flesh. Sang Chai Hui (Mulberry Branch Ash), entering medicine is extremely miraculous. One prescription takes one turtle, prepares like food method, boils with Sang Hui Zhi (Mulberry Ash Juice) until mud-like, mixes with various hernia medicine, boils again suitable for pills, many hands roll like wu zi size, take fifteen pills daily, hernia and mass will all heal. Or alone pour juice and take, also removes wind-blood lump, edema. Ash from iron forging furnace, additionally obtains iron power, thus mainly treats hernia firm accumulation effectively. Hot ash from stove, mix with vinegar and compress cold qi pain in heart/abdomen and blood-qj colic, change when cold.
Bai Cao Hui (Hundred Herbs Ash) Harvest dew on Dragon Boat Festival from one hundred types, shade dry, burn to ash, make pills with well water, re-burn to make white, mix with vinegar to make cakes, clamp under armpits, change when dry, should draw out whole body pain and vexation, sores appear then stop. Wash with urine, not more than three times, armpit odor naturally disappears, also mainly treats metal wounds, stops bleeding and generates flesh, take ash and Duan Shi make pills, burn to white, scrape and apply.
Bu Hui Mu (Non-Burning Wood) Comes from Shangdang, stone type. Color green-white like rotten wood, does not burn when fired, or said to be Slippery Stone root. If want to burn to ash, chop open, boil with cow milk, then burn with yellow cow dung to become ash. Very cold. Mainly treats heat prickly heat sores, mix with Jiao Ye (Jujube Leaf) and Duan Shi, make powder and apply.
Lu Gan Shi (Galena) Not recorded in "Ben Cao", "Ju Fang" uses it as chief for treating eyes. Light and white like sheep brain, without stone admixture is good. Use clay pot with lid, make red hot in charcoal fire, quench with child urine or Huang Lian (Coptis) water, quench repeatedly nine times, finely grind and water-classify for use.
Jiang Shi (Ginger Stone) Exists everywhere, grows in earth and stones where sunlight does not reach, shape like ginger, has five colors, only white is good. Salty taste, cold, non-toxic, treats ding swelling, mastitis, back carbuncles, chickenpox, all fire-quenched in vinegar to powder, mix with egg white or vinegar to apply effective. Generally stone types mainly treat carbuncles.
Lv Qing (Green Verdigris) i.e., Stone Green. Comes from Xinzhou where copper exists, grows on north side of mountains, green and white patterns are lovely, i.e., painters use as green color, locals use for women's adornment. For medicine, use chunks like Ru Xiang (Frankincense), without stone admixture is good. Sour taste, cold, non-toxic. Mainly benefits qi, treats rhinitis, stops diarrhea. Nowadays doctors use to vomit wind-phlegm although effective, also damages heart. Finely grind and water-classify.
Bai Qing (White Verdigris) Grows in Yuzhang valleys. Now Kong Qing (Azurite) round like iron beads, white color and abdomen not empty is this. Grind color white and green, also called Bi Qing (Green Verdigris), not used for painting, also used when no Kong Qing. Sweet, sour, salty taste, neutral, non-toxic. Mainly treats evil qi under heart causing vomiting, kills various toxic three parasites, benefits nine orifices, treats deafness, brightens eyes and connects spirit, lightens body and prevents aging.
Bian Qing (Flat Azurite) Shu Jun pieces large like fist, color green, abdomen sometimes empty; Wu Chang pieces small flat and color better. Sweet taste, neutral, non-toxic. Mainly treats fractures, dislocations, carbuncle swelling, metal wounds not healing. Treats eye pain, breaks accumulations, detoxifies gas, benefits spirit, removes cold-wind bi-syndrome, and various male genital diseases, internally perfects and benefits essence, enables having children. Long-term use lightens body and prevents aging.
Fu Qing (Skin Azurite) Grows in Yi Zhou. Pungent, salty taste, neutral, non-toxic. Mainly treats gu poison and snake, vegetable, meat various poisons, all foul sores. Cannot be taken long-term, makes people thin.
Jiang Zhen Xiang (Dragon's Blood Incense) Burned with various incenses, goes straight to heaven, summons cranes circling above. Warm-neutral taste, non-toxic. Mainly treats epidemic seasonal qi anomalies, burning it avoids evil qi.
Xun Lu Xiang (Frankincense) Comes from Tianzhu Country, trees grow in sand, midsummer tree sap flows out, shape like peach gum, yellow-white, important medicine for incense makers. Slightly warm, treats foul sores and wind-water toxic swelling, removes evil qi, Zhong E evil qi, Fu Shi (corpse qi). Treats unbearable tooth worm pain. "Tu Jing" says: Treats kidney qi, tonifies waist and knees, treats cholera, treats blood and stops pain. Preparation same as Ru Xiang (Frankincense).
Ji She Xiang (Cloves) Comes from Kunlun. Pick flowers, ferment to make incense. Important for incense makers, not only for medicine. Pungent taste, warm, non-toxic. Treats wind-water toxic swelling, removes evil qi, stops cholera heart pain, blow into nose to kill brain malnutrition, hold in mouth to treat dental caries and bad breath, mix with Huang Lian (Coptis) and milk to drop in eyes, vision doubles.
Mao Xiang (Vetiver) Grows in various prefectures of Jiannan Dao. Sprouts in March, seedlings resemble barley, opens white flowers in May. Bitter taste, warm, non-toxic. Apply to moxa sores, metal wounds, stops bleeding and calms pain. Decoct soup to stop hematemesis and epistaxis, also treats Zhong E, warms stomach and stops vomiting, treats heart-abdomen cold pain, heat strangury. Seedlings and leaves boiled as soup bath, repels evil qi, makes body fragrant, combined with famous incenses is very strange.
Shu Li (Bush Cherry) i.e., Niu Li Zi. Tree seven or eight zhang high, leaves like plum, but narrow and not glossy, fruits grow on branches all around, green when raw, black when ripe, until autumn leaves fall, fruits still on branches, exists everywhere. Bitter taste, slight toxicity. Mainly treats chills-fever scrofula, sores, sun dry, nine steamings, soak in wine and take. Can move blood, remove hernia masses, accumulated cold qi, treats edema and abdominal distension. Bark treats various sores, chills-fever toxic bi, removes body skin heat-toxic. Roots, main mouth malnutrition sores, mix with Rosa Laevigata root decoct paste, hold and swallow then heals, also can apply to back carbuncle. Boil concentrated juice, hold in mouth, treat loose teeth; take to treat malnutrition worms eroding spine.
Lu Huo (Desmodium styracifolium) Seedlings resemble Wan Dou (Broad Bean), have vines and slightly larger, roots yellow and fragrant, people take as vegetables, slight bean odor, mountain people call it Lu Dou, also suitable for raw eating. Bitter taste, neutral, non-toxic. Mainly treats intestinal abscess, scrofula, sores, kills gu poison, stops headache and women's waist-abdomen pain and unhappiness. Harvest seedlings in May-June, sun dry.
Niu Bian (Aconitum brachypodum) Grows in low wetlands. Leaves resemble Ranunculus, roots resemble Qiong Jie (Kochia) but thinner. Bitter taste, cold, non-toxic. Mainly treats body skin sore heat, can make bathing soup. Also treats cattle disease, cattle lice. Enter medicine using roots.
Yuan Wei (Iris Tectorum) Leaves resemble Belamcanda but broader and shorter, do not shoot long stems, spread on ground to grow. Flowers purple-green, roots resemble Galangal, skin yellow flesh white. Bitter taste, neutral, toxic. Mainly treats Fei Shi (flying corpse) gu poison, evil qi Gui Zhu (ghost attachment) various poisons. Breaks hernia masses, accumulations, removes water, expels three parasites, treats dizziness, kills ghosts. Harvest roots in October, sun dry.
Jiu Wu (Allium tuberosum Moss) Grows in dark wet places between big stones and trees, green and lush, resembles moss but not moss, four or five cun long. Sweet taste, cold, non-toxic. Mainly treats metal wound internal blockage, treats jaundice, removes skin chills-fever alternating, benefits small intestine and bladder qi, tonifies middle and benefits qi, improves complexion. Burn to ash, bathe hair to make black.
Shu Yang Quan (Comfrey) Common name Qi Gu Ye, resembles chrysanthemum, purple. Seeds like Goji berries, roots like Polygala, no heart but has granules. Bitter-cold taste, non-toxic. Mainly treats head baldness, foul sores, heat, tinea crusts and worms, lacquer dermatitis, dental caries, women's vaginal internal injury, solid accumulation between skin, children's convulsions. Harvest seedlings and leaves in March-April, shade dry and use.
Bai Tu Huo (White Rabbit Milk Vetch) Also named Bai Ge, vining, leaves round and thick like mulberry, stems all have white hairs. Bitter taste, neutral, non-toxic. Mainly treats snake venom, bee/wasp stings, mad dog bites, vegetable/meat, gu poison, ghost attachment, wind attachment, all major poisons that cannot enter mouth, boil juice and drink, then resolves. Also remove skin, can make powder and apply to pain, immediately dissipates. Harvest seedlings and leaves in May, sun dry.
Ya Zhi Cao (Commelina communis) Grows in flat land. Leaves like bamboo, one or two chi high, flowers deep green, have horns like bird beaks, hence also named Bi Zhu Zi. Flowers can dye color. Bitter taste, cold, non-toxic. Mainly treats carbuncles, ding swelling, erysipelas, malarial瘴, heat dysentery, phlegm-fluid, maniacal epilepsy, hernia masses,痞满 (fullness), qi swelling, snake bites. Boil with Chi Xiao Dou (Adzuki Beans), moves water qi, damp-bi, promotes urination.
Shu Wei Cao (Salvia miltiorrhiza) Seedlings like mugwort, summer stem ends form four or five spikes, like rat tails. Flowers have red and white two colors, leaves can dye black. Bitter taste, cold, non-toxic. Mainly treats rat chills-fever, dysentery with pus and blood not stopping, boil paste and take. White flowers treat white discharge, red flowers treat red discharge. Harvest leaves in April, flowers in July, shade dry and use.
