胎热胎寒胎瘦肥;
撮口聚面气喘急,胎家热毒入心脾;
此证皆因里气郁,吐痰利惊最得宜;
脐肿腹胀四肢柔;
间有热者生可求;
服风。如春月加防风、蝉蜕;夏加茯苓、车前子;秋加牛蒡子、升麻;冬加山栀、连翘;行气加钩藤、川楝子;
上夜惊啼多痰热,仰身有汗赤面颊;
下夜曲腰必虚寒,甚则内钓手足掣;
神惊痰聚发风搐,或因内热风生肝;
撮口聚面气喘急,胎家热毒入心脾;
此证皆因里气郁,吐痰利惊最得宜;
间有热者生可求;
上夜惊啼多痰热,仰身有汗赤面颊;
下夜曲腰必虚寒,甚则内钓手足掣;
神惊痰聚发风搐,或因内热风生肝;
**Newborns**
Why is medical attention needed immediately after birth?
If the infant has not yet cried upon birth, quickly wrap a finger in cotton wool, dip it into raw licorice root juice (Radix Glycyrrhizae Preparata), and wipe the mouth. In summer, mix with Coptis chinensis juice (Caulis Coptidis) to remove foul matter. Once stabilized, apply cinnabar powder (Mineral Cinnabar) mixed with honey (approximately one *zi* measure) into the mouth to calm the heart, soothe the mind, and detoxify. *Yansheng Fang*: After the umbilical cord falls off, place it on a new tile and burn it around the edges with charcoal until the substance remains but the form is charred (*cun xing*). If there are five *fen* of the cord, add two-and-a-half *fen* of prepared cinnabar (Fly-made Cinnabar), grind into powder, and mix evenly with a thick decoction of Rehmannia glutinosa root (Radix Rehmanniae Preparata) and Angelica sinensis (Radix Angelicae Sinensis). Apply this mixture to the crevices of the infant's body and the nursing mother's nipples. The dose should be consumed within one day. This is an excellent method to ensure the child never suffers from smallpox or other rashes throughout life.
Regarding fetal heat, fetal cold, fetal emaciation, and fetal obesity:
Fetal heat results from the mother consuming hot-natured foods; fetal cold results from the mother contracting cold pathogens or damaging herself with raw/cold foods. Fetal emaciation presents as timidity, yellowish complexion, prominent whites of the eyes, frequent crying, thin muscles, and white-colored stools; this belongs to the Lung system. It is advisable to administer *Changsheng Wan* (Longevity Pill) in advance: Areca nut (Fructus Arecae), Bitter orange fruit (Fructus Aurantii) each one *liang*, Aucklandia root (Radix Aucklandiae) five *qian*, Amomum fruit (Fructus Amomi), Pinellia tuber (Rhizoma Pinelliae), Clove flos (Flos Caryophylli), Myristica seed (Semen Myristicae), and Scorpion (Scorpio) each twenty pieces. Grind into powder and make pills the size of millet grains using rice paste. Administer fifty pills at a time with milk. This formula expands the upper jiao, solidifies the lower jiao, tonifies the Spleen, resolves phlegm, and stops diarrhea. Fetal obesity presents with reddish blood-colored skin, heat in the five centers (palms, soles, and chest), and difficulty defecating. A bathing method is suitable: Alum (Alumen), Indigo naturalis (Folium Isatidis), and Zaocys snake (Squama Zaocys) each one-and-a-half *qian*, Gastrodia rhizome (Rhizoma Gastrodiae) five *fen*, Scorpion tail tip (Scorpio cauda) and Cinnabar each two-and-a-half *fen*, Musk (Moschus) one *zi*, and a handful of Peach twig (Ramulus Persicae). Decoct in water for ten boils, warm, and bathe the infant. Do not wash the back; this is also suitable for fetal emaciation.
Fetal cold presents with a cold body and frequent diarrhea, while "coiling intestine internal hooking" causes intermittent pain.
After birth, if the body is cold and breath is cold, with borborygmus, diarrhea of green-black stool, coiling intestine internal hooking, and colic preventing suckling, use *Muxiang Yunqi San* (Aucklandia Qi-Regulating Powder) or *Baijiang San* (White Ginger Powder): White ginger (Rhizoma Zingiberis Preparatum), Aucklandia root (Radix Aucklandiae), Cassia twig (Ramulus Cinnamomi), Tangerine peel (Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae), Areca nut (Fructus Arecae), and Licorice root (Radix Glycyrrhizae) in equal parts. Add Quince (Fructus Chaenomelis) and Clove flos (Flos Caryophylli) if vomiting occurs; remove Areca nut and add Ligusticum chuanxiong rhizome (Rhizoma Chuanxiong) and Angelica sinensis (Radix Angelicae Sinensis) if the face is blue and limbs are cold. Decoct in water and administer according to the infant's size by dipping cotton wool into the liquid.
Some infants cannot cry or have retracted testes (Kidney retraction):
Infants who cannot cry upon birth likely suffered cold invasion due to difficult labor. Quickly wrap them in cotton wool and hold them close. Do not cut the umbilical cord immediately. Instead, roast the placenta in ash fire. Also, light a large oil-paper wick lamp and pass it repeatedly over the umbilical cord to apply heat. Since the cord connects to the navel, the fire qi enters through the navel. Then wash the cord with hot vinegar water. After a moment, when breathing returns and the infant cries normally, bathing and cutting the cord may proceed. For retracted testes caused by initial cold exposure, use Sulfur (Sulfur) and Evodia fruit (Fructus Evodiae) each five *qian*, ground into powder, mixed with garlic juice, and applied to the abdomen. Additionally, smoke the area slightly with burning Bedstraw herb (Herba Galii Veri).
Generalized blisters or absence of skin:
If the whole body resembles fish blisters or crystal glass, leaking fluid when broken, this is due to fetal cold-dampness. Dust the area with Ledo stone powder (Galena Powder) and administer *Suhe Xiang Wan* (Styrax Pill). If born without skin, showing only red flesh, this indicates Spleen Qi deficiency. Dust with early rice flour until skin regenerates.
Fetal heat causing sublingual abscess (Xuan Yong) can lead to death:
If an infant dies immediately after birth, urgently check for blisters on the sublingual frenulum (Xuan Yong) or anterior gums. Break them with a finger, wipe clean with cloth. If blood enters the throat, death ensues.
An imperforate anus is a rare condition:
Imperforate anus in newborns is caused by Lung heat closing the anal opening. Urgently pierce the exact spot with a silver hairpin or a heated needle (not too deep). Use honey suppository method to keep it open; in emergencies, use an oil-paper wick. Internally administer *Sishun Qingliang Yin* (Four-Obedience Cooling Decoction) to prevent re-closure.
Obstruction of urination and defecation due to failure to suckle:
Infants born with red faces, rapid breathing, excessive eye discharge, yawning, and obstructed urination/defecation (possibly with bloody fluid), progressing to frequent convulsions, strabismus, and body jerking, should be treated with *Lianqiao Yin* (Forsythia Decoction), *Wufu Huadu Dan* (Five Blessings Detoxifying Pellet), or *Lijiang Yin* (Pear Syrup Decoction). For those unable to suckle, make honey pills from equal parts Coptis chinensis (Rhizoma Coptidis), Bitter orange fruit (Fructus Aurantii), and Polyporus (Sclerotium Poriae Cocos), administered with milk. For infants with red faces, closed eyes, obstructed excretions, and refusal to suckle, use the *Niangru Fang* (Milk-Brewing Formula): Alisma rhizome (Rhizoma Alismatis) five *fen*, Rehmannia root (Radix Rehmanniae) four *fen*, Polyporus (Sclerotium Poriae Cocos), Red Polyporus (Sclerotium Poriae Cocos cum Rubo), Trichosanthes root (Radix Trichosanthis), and Artemisia capillaris (Herba Scopariae) each two *fen*. Decoct in water. Have the nursing mother express and discard old milk, then consume the decoction. After some time, resume breastfeeding. This is the milk-brewing method; other methods follow this principle. For isolated urinary obstruction due to Heart heat transferring to the Small Intestine, grind several earthworms (Pheretima) with a little honey and apply to the penis. Internally, administer powder made from burned silkworm pupa skin (Cuticula Bombycis), Cinnabar, and a little borneol/musk, mixed with Ophiopogon tuber (Radix Ophiopogonis) and Juncus effusus (Herba Junci) decoction. For non-suckling with difficult urination, boil four *he* of milk with one inch of scallion white for three boils and administer.
If accompanied by severe abdominal distension:
For constipation with extreme abdominal distension, have a woman rinse her mouth with warm water and perform suction-massage on the infant's anterior chest, posterior back, below the navel, and both palms/soles (seven points total). Perform this three to five times until the skin turns red; bowel movement will naturally occur.
Redness like cinnabar or jaundice at birth:
For body redness like cinnabar, use *Yujin San* (Curcuma Powder): Curcuma rhizome (Rhizoma Curcumae), Platycodon root (Radix Platycodonis), Licorice root (Radix Glycyrrhizae), Trichosanthes root (Radix Trichosanthis), and Pueraria root (Radix Puerariae) in equal parts. Grind to powder, take five *fen* mixed with honey in Mint decoction (Herba Menthae). Subsequently, grind Blue leaf (Indigo leaf), Floating duckweed (Herba Lemnae), and Aquatic moss, squeeze out juice, mix with Mirabilite (Natrii Sulfas) and Earth Vermilion, and apply to red areas. For muscle redness/whiteness turning yellow all over (face, urine, stool) after two lunar months, with constipation, this is Blood Jaundice. Caused by maternal damp-heat or excessive warmth in clothing. Use *Siwu Tang* (Four Substances Decoction) plus equal parts Trichosanthes root, decocted in water. Wash externally with Phellodendron bark (Cortex Phellodendri) decoction.
Eagle-mouth disease (Thrush) and mouth ulcers require urgent wiping:
White debris covering the tongue like an eagle's mouth indicates Heart-Spleen heat. Wrap hair around a finger, dip in natural Mint juice, and wipe clean. If adherent, use *Baoming San* (Life-Preserving Powder): Calcined Alum (Alumen Ustums), Cinnabar each one *qian*, Niter (Natrii Nitras) five *qian*. Grind to powder. Take one *zi*, mix with water pounded from white goose droppings, and apply to the tongue and inner cheeks/jaw. Mouth ulcers indicate Heart accumulation heat. Apply Arisaema rhizome (Rhizoma Arisaematis) powder mixed with light vinegar to the soles of the feet. The nursing mother takes *Xi Xin San* (Heart-Washing Powder). For mild cases, use Coptis chinensis (Rhizoma Coptidis) or fine tea powder with a little Licorice root and honey. For severe cases, use Phellodendron bark (Cortex Phellodendri), Indigo naturalis (Folium Isatidis), and borneol powder mixed with bamboo sap. Alternatively, use *Baoming San* without goose droppings. For widespread ulceration, use Phellodendron bark (Cortex Phellodendri), Asarum root (Radix Asari), and green salt powder; hold in mouth and spit out saliva; heals in three days. Suitable for adults too. For oral rot preventing suckling, crush two bitter almond seeds (Semen Armeniacae Amarum) with a little Cinnabar or Lead oxide (Lithargyrum)/Earth Vermilion, apply to the shaved fontanelle. If millet-like blisters appear around, wash immediately with warm water to prevent sores; wash with Calamus root (Rhizoma Acori Tatarinowii) decoction for immediate effect.
Double tongue, wooden tongue, and white gums:
Double tongue (Chong She) is excess Heart-Spleen heat causing a secondary tongue-like swelling at the root. If on the cheek/upper palate, it is called Chong E; if on gums, Chong Chi. Prick to bleed; repeat if it regrows. Otherwise, it blocks the mouth and hinders feeding. Use *Qingdai San* (Indigo Powder): Coptis chinensis (Rhizoma Coptidis), Phellodendron bark (Cortex Phellodendri) each one *qian*, Indigo naturalis (Folium Isatidis), Niter (Natrii Nitras), Cinnabar each two *fen*, Realgar (Realgar), Cow bezoar (Calculus Bovis), Borax (Borax) each one *fen*, and borneol two *li*. Wipe mouth with Mint juice first, then dust with medicine. Suitable for sore throat swelling. Wooden tongue (Mu She) is Heart-Spleen heat congestion causing stiff swelling filling the mouth. Apply Phellodendron bark (Cortex Phellodendri) powder mixed with bamboo sap. Severe cases add Mirabilite (Natrii Sulfas) and white salt. Both conditions share a common remedy: Carbonized wood ash (Bai Cao Shuang), Mirabilite (Natrii Sulfas), Talcum (Talcum) powder mixed with wine. Tongue protrusion (Nong She) with tight tendons is also Spleen heat; do not use cold medicines, use *Xiehuang San* (Drain Yellow Powder) gradually. For yellow face/emaciation/five-center heat, use *Hulian Wan*. Prognosis is poor if tongue protrusion occurs after major illness. If a membrane like a pomegranate seed forms under the tongue connecting to the root, preventing speech, tear it off quickly, dust with hair ash. White spots on gums/mouth called "Horse Teeth" cause inability to eat; unlike thrush, delay is fatal. Prick to bleed, grind Beijing ink with Mint juice, wrap in hair-oiled finger, and wipe mouth. Avoid suckling for one hour, then resume.
All these result from maternal heat transmitted to the infant.
**Cuokou Wind (Pursed-Lip Wind)**
Pursed lips, drawn-in face, rapid breathing; fetal heat-toxin enters Heart and Spleen.
Cuokou wind presents with yellow-red face, asthma, silence, fetal heat toxin affecting Heart/Spleen, leading to stiff tongue, blue lips, pursed lips, hindering feeding. Use two Silkworm (Bombyx Batryticatus), lightly fried and powdered, mixed with honey applied to lips. Or use *Dali Jing Wan* (Great Benefit Calming Pill) or *Xeshao San* (Scorpion Tail Powder: 49 scorpion tails rolled in fresh Mint leaves, tied with cotton, stir-fried in clay pot until mint is dry and crisp, then add 49 Silkworm, little borneol/musk, powder). Mix with two slices of purple rooster liver, decoct in water, and administer. Treats all fetal winds and Cuokou/Navel wind within 100 days. For fetal deficiency-cold, add Aconite root (Radix Aconiti Lateralis Preparata); for heat, use Cinnabar Paste separately. For onset at seven days, check gums for millet-like blisters, gently break with soft blue cloth dipped in warm water; mouth opens and settles, no medicine needed.
There are also cases of Spleen-Lung deficiency-cold:
Cuokou is Qi disharmony. Lung governs Qi, mouth belongs to Spleen. Spleen deficiency fails to nourish the child, causing pursed lips and rapid breathing. Treat with *Baoming Dan* (Life-Preserving Pellet) or *Yihuang San* (Benefit Yellow Powder).
White foam from mouth and cold limbs are untreatable:
White foam and cold limbs are ominous signs; appearance within the first week guarantees death.
**Jinkou Wind (Locked-Jaw Wind)**
Locked jaw, inability to suckle or cry; fetal heat combined with wind strike.
Jinkou wind presents with closed eyes, weak cry, meat bumps like millet on tongue, inability to suckle, white foam, normal excretions. Caused by fetal heat/toxin in Heart/Spleen manifesting in throat/tongue, or postnatal wind strike. Use *Xiehuang San* (Drain Yellow Powder) or *Zhuyin Wan* (Pearl Silver Pill). For newborn locked jaw refusing milk, use one golden-headed red-legged Centipede (Scolopendra), roasted and powdered. Mix five *fen* with two *he* pig milk, divide into 3-4 doses. Or mix one *zi* of Cow bezoar (Calculus Bovis) powder with bamboo sap. Drip pig milk into mouth.
These conditions arise from interior Qi stagnation; expelling phlegm and benefiting calming is most appropriate.
Jinkou, Cuokou, and Navel wind are essentially the same, caused by interior Qi blockage. First use *Kongtan San* (Phlegm-Control Powder) to induce vomiting: Scorpion tail tip (Scorpio cauda), Verdigris (Cupri Acetas) each five *fen*, Cinnabar one *qian*, Calomel (Hydrargyri Chloridum Mite) one *zi*, little Musk (Moschus). Grind to powder. Take one *zi*, mix with clear tea water. Or use Licorice root decoction to probe vomit, which is safer. Then drip pig bile into mouth to cure. Follow with *Renshen Yangwei Tang* (Ginseng Stomach-Nourishing Decoction), remove Atractylodes (Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae) and Pinellia (Rhizoma Pinelliae), add Aucklandia (Radix Aucklandiae) and Perilla fruit (Fructus Perillae), administered to nursing mother. Then use Cinnabar Paste and Li Jing to heal.
Blowing into nose to induce sneezing is treatable:
Nasal blowing method: One Centipede (Scolopendra), four Scorpion tail tips (Scorpio cauda), seven Silkworm (Bombyx Batryticatus), five *fen* Dwarf lupin herb (Herba Dianthi). Grind to powder. Blow one *zi* into nose. Sneezing indicates treatability; continue with Mint decoction.
Appearance at seven days is critical; within 100 days with curled limbs is untreatable.
**Navel Wind (Umbilical Tetanus) (Attached: Fetal Wind)**
Navel wind caused by wind-cold-dampness flow.
Navel wind results from urine, milk, water-dampness, or wind-cold entering the umbilicus after cord cutting, flowing to Heart and Spleen.
Umbilical swelling, abdominal distension, flaccid limbs.
Symptoms: Umbilical protrusion, abdominal fullness.
Frequent crying, convulsions, fear of Cuokou/Jinkou.
If crying day and night, unable to suckle, progressing to convulsions, Cuokou, Jinkou, this is internal convulsion (untreatable). Cyanotic/black umbilical border or black nails indicate death. Ancient formulas use *Dali Jing Wan* (Great Benefit Calming Pill) or the nasal blowing method from Jinkou section (treatable if sneezing occurs). Severe cases: *Jinwu San* (Golden Crow Powder): Half golden-headed Centipede (Scolopendra), three raw Aconite tips (Radix Aconiti Lateralis), little Musk (Moschus). Powder, take half *zi* with Silver/Gold decoction. Or surgical *Saiming Dan* (Life-Racing Pellet) or *Yinian Jin* (One-Twist Gold). If wind-convulsion subsides but crying/restlessness persists, use *Da Wenjing Wan* (Great Warm Calming Pill).
Heat cases may survive.
Heat in chest causing stretching/straining also causes umbilical swelling. Use *Qianjin Longdan Tang* (Thousand Years Gentian Decoction) or *Xiao Liangjing Wan* (Small Cool Calming Pill). Wash umbilical swelling: Decoct Schizonepeta (Herba Schizonepetae), wash clean, then roast Green onion bulb (Bulbus Allii Cepae) over fire, cool, scrape thin, and apply to swelling; resolves next day. Then take *Tongxin Yin* (Heart-Unblocking Decoction): Akebia stem (Caulis Aristolochiae Manshuriensis), Forsythia (Flos Forsythiae), Dwarf lupin herb (Herba Dianthi), Gardenia (Fructus Gardeniae), Scutellaria root (Radix Scutellariae), Licorice root (Radix Glycyrrhizae) each three *fen*, Juncus effusus (Herba Junci), Ophiopogon tuber (Radix Ophiopogonis)少许. Decoct in water. Unblocks Heart Qi, promotes urination, reduces tidal fever, separates grain/water, treats spiral wind. Spring: add Saposhnikovia root (Radix Saposhnikoviae), Cicada slough (Periostracum Cicadae). Summer: add Polyporus (Sclerotium Poriae Cocos), Plantago seed (Semen Plantaginis). Autumn: add Barbarosae fruit (Fructus Arctii), Cimicifuga rhizome (Rhizoma Cimicifugae). Winter: add Gardenia (Fructus Gardeniae), Forsythia (Flos Forsythiae). Move Qi: add Uncaria (Uncis Cum Ramulis), Toosendan fruit (Fructus Meliae Toosendan). Mouth sores: add Rehmannia root (Radix Rehmanniae), Wild ramie root (Radix Boehmeriae). Universal: Anqi method for bleeding/clear fluid/red swelling from umbilicus. Angelica sinensis powder (Radix Angelicae Sinensis), White kaolin powder (Kaolinum), Toad oil, or ash from burnt chicken head. All applicable. Moxibustion on belly vein: At seven days, a green vein appears moving to the navel, splitting into two branches. If it reaches the heart, it is untreatable. Wise practitioners monitor the initial green vein, moxa three cones at the head, or six cones at the split point; the vein disappears, infant lives. Refining Umbilicus method: See Vol 1. Upon birth, wrap cord in cotton, tie with thread three *cun* from navel, cut outside thread, wait for blood to stop, remove thread. Near navel, observe two small holes and one large hole. Insert one-two *fen* refining medicine into large hole via goose quill, massage gently, moxa umbilical head three cones, tie knot, wrap waist with soft silk. Do not frequently uncover. When cord falls, wind risk ceases. Another method: At birth, if umbilicus is soft, no treatment needed; if hard/straight, navel wind is certain. Urgently pierce base with silver hairpin, insert little musk powder, moxa three cones. Excellent.
Fetal wind epilepsy often involves vomiting; red color at glabella indicates survival.
Fetal惊痫风 (Fetal Convulsive Wind) results from maternal desires, anger, shock, or external wind injuring fetus. Child inherits maternal Qi, sick immediately after birth: vomiting, convulsions, deviated mouth/eyes, short crying, retracted cheeks, open fontanelle, red cheeks or blue face, locked jaw, grinding teeth, moist saliva in eyes, tendon stiffness, back rigidity, umbilical/abdominal swelling. Same symptoms as Jinkou/Cuokou. But fetal wind closes eyes, differs from slow Spleen wind; do not misuse warm medicines. Red/bright green glabella color indicates survival; dark blue/black indicates death. Treatment: Dispel wind, benefit calming, resolve phlegm, regulate Qi. Cinnabar Paste is best. *Taiyi San* (Supreme One Powder): Bird nest egg shell (Tian Jiang Zi), Arisaema rhizome (Rhizoma Arisaematis), Typhonium rhizome (Rhizoma Typhonii), Gastrodia rhizome (Rhizoma Gastrodiae), Saposhnikovia root (Radix Saposhnikoviae), Polyporus (Sclerotium Poriae Cocos) each two *qian*, Scorpion (Scorpio), Cinnabar each one *qian*, little Musk (Moschus). Powder, take five *fen* dissolved in milk. Treats fetal惊.
**Fetal惊 Night Crying**
Upper night crying often due to phlegm-heat; lying on back with sweat, red cheeks.
Night crying within first month with startle/convulsions is due to fetal shock. Use *Zhurugao* (Pig Milk Paste): Amber (Succinum), Saposhnikovia root (Radix Saposhnikoviae) each one *qian*, Cinnabar five *fen*. Powder, mix one *zi* with pig milk, smear in mouth. Or *Baoming Dan* (Life-Preserving Pellet), *Jinbo Zhenxin Wan* (Gold Leaf Heart-Calming Pill). Phlegm-惊: *Baolong Wan* (Embrace Dragon Pill). Heat-惊: *Liangjing Wan* (Cool Calming Pill), *Longnao Anshen Wan* (Borneol Spirit-Calming Pill). Ordinary evil heat night crying: Three lamp wick flowers (Flos Phragmitis), Juncus effusus (Herba Junci) decoction, smear in mouth, send down with milk, twice daily. Generally, phlegm-heat causes upper-night crying, lying on back, sweating, red face, irritability, dark/scanty urine, hot mouth/abdomen.
Lower night crying implies deficiency-cold; severe cases involve internal hooking and limb jerking.
Qi-deficiency night crying: *Sijunzi Tang* (Four Gentlemen Decoction) plus Chinese yam (Rhizoma Dioscoreae), Lablab bean (Semen Lablab Album). With heat: add Coptis chinensis (Rhizoma Coptidis), Bamboo leaf (Folium Bambusae). Blood-deficiency anxious crying: Angelica sinensis (Radix Angelicae Sinensis) powder with milk. Qi/Blood dual deficiency with abdominal pain: Huangqi (Radix Astragali), Angelica sinensis (Radix Angelicae Sinensis), Red Peony root (Radix Paeoniae Rubra), Aucklandia (Radix Aucklandiae), Licorice root (Radix Glycyrrhizae) equal parts. Powder, take little on nipple for suckling. Fetal cold/cold clothing causing organ cold, coiling intestine, abdominal pain, upward gaze, limb jerking during crying. Night is Yin-excess; cold causes pain; severe Yin-excess causes restlessness, hence night crying. Use *Baoming Dan*; mild cases *Yihuang San*. External: roast wheat bran, iron over area. Lower-night crying with curved waist, blue-white face, cold abdomen indicates cold-induced abdominal pain. Shock/wind night crying: *Erhuo San* (Two Active Powders): Notopterygium root (Rhizoma Notopterygii), Angelica pubescens root (Radix Angelicae Pubescentis) each two *fen*, Areca nut (Fructus Arecae), Gastrodia rhizome (Rhizoma Gastrodiae), Ephedra herb (Herba Ephedrae), Licorice root (Radix Glycyrrhizae) each one *fen*. Decoct. Or add Arisaema (Rhizoma Arisaematis) powder, honey paste for fontanelle. Food injury crying: *Xiaoshi Wan* (Digest Food Pill).
Guest intrusion/Evil spirit crying at dusk:
Day/night crying worse at dusk is Guest Intrusion/Evil Spirit. See Guest Intrusion section.
Crying when attempting to suckle, rotten mouth/tongue.
