饼。惊食两重,四肢搐搦,痰壅盛者,先与利惊丸消导;次服启脾散调脾。外感因惊虚,风邪乘入心肝二经;
治分先后与易难;
面色淡白,喘息气乏;入肾则面黑啮乳,切牙。寅、卯、辰时搐者,肝木旺也,当以肾气丸补肾,泻青丸泻肝;
急惊发搐牙关紧,潮热秘渴壅痰涎;
搐定痰热尚不退,下之只用抱龙丸;
随证生胃截风形;
马脾风因肺寒甚,痰嗽 证最危;
惊风三发则为痫(恶证),病关五脏似惊风;

清心豁痰是上工;
急惊发作抽搐牙关紧闭,潮热便秘口渴痰涎壅盛;
抽搐停止后痰热尚不退,攻下只用抱龙丸;
随证生胃气以截风形;

Huosan (Vital Powder), added with Qingpi (Green Tangerine Peel) and Zisu (Perilla Leaf) to release the exterior and resolve accumulation; subsequently use Xieqing Wan (Drain the Liver Pill), added with Chen Sha (Cinnabar). Xieshao (Scorpion Tail) dispels wind and calms fright. Food retention complicated by fright, if heat-type, uses Kuanre Yin (Heat-Relaxing Drink); if phlegm accumulation type, uses Baiyu Bing (White Jade Cake). When both fright and food retention are severe, with limb convulsions and spasms, and profuse phlegm obstruction, first administer Lijing Wan (Remove Fright Pill) for digestion and elimination; subsequently take Qipi San (Spleen-Enlightening Powder) to regulate the spleen. Exterior contraction due to fright-induced deficiency allows wind pathogen to invade the Heart and Liver meridians; or internal heat accumulation combined with external wind contraction, both are termed Wind-Cold Complicated by Fright (Shangfeng Jiajing). Mental fatigue and confusion, headache, coarse and hot breath from the mouth, first use Xingxing San (Awakening Powder), Shenru Yin (Ginseng and Pericarpium Polystachyon Drink), Renshen Qianghuo San (Ginseng and Notopterygium Powder), or selectively apply Daqing Gao (Great Blue Ointment) to slightly induce sweating; subsequently take Tianma Fangfeng Wan (Gastrodia and Saposhnikovia Pill). General formulas: Daochi San (Direct Red Powder), Wufu Huadu Dan (Five Blessings Detoxifying Pill), Xieqing Wan (Drain the Liver Pill), Shenqi Wan (Kidney Qi Pill). Generally, using mercury, Fenqing (Calomel), Badou (Croton Seed), Mangxiao (Mirabilite), Qianshuang (Lead Frost), Naoshe (Borneol and Musk), Chansu (Toad Venom), Wugong (Centipede) etc. for treating convulsive disorders often leads to transformation into Slow Convulsion which is difficult to treat. Moreover, if convulsions and fever arise due to internal injury, exterior contraction, or smallpox, the harm is even more rapid. It is better to use Xixin (Asarum), Qianghuo (Notopterygium), Qingpi (Green Tangerine Peel), Ganjiang (Dried Ginger), Jingjie (Schizonepeta) etc. to replace Naoshe for dispersing; Duhuo (Angelica Pubescens), Chaihu (Bupleurum), Shanzhi (Gardenia), Zhike (Aurantii Fructus), Dahuang (Rhubarb) etc. to replace Fenqing, Badou, Mangxiao for purging. This is because Xieqing Wan treats liver heat symptoms such as picking at clothes, staring straight ahead, convulsions or no convulsions, diarrhea with undigested food, and other conditions where various medicines fail to stop them. If fright-heat originates from the Heart and Lung, it is suitable to use Sangbaipi (Mulberry Bark), Tinglizi (Descurainia Seed), Chi Fuling (Red Poria), Cheqianzi (Plantago Seed), Shanzhi (Gardenia), Gancao (Licorice), Shengjiang (Fresh Ginger), Dazao (Jujube) decocted and taken, draining through urination. Daochi San can drain liver wind and descend heart fire, most beneficial for fright-heat, or add Shanzhi, Qianghuo, Dahuang. There are also fright-malaria and fright-dysentery, mixed with all kinds of miscellaneous syndromes, which should be understood flexibly, referring to medicines in various sections.
Convulsions have deficiency/excess and favorable/unfavorable aspects. The four syndromes of Fright, Wind, Phlegm, and Heat: mild cases present only with limb convulsions and spasms; severe cases present with locked jaw, shaking head and darting eyes, open mouth and protruding tongue, opisthotonos, body twitching and trembling, hand and foot convulsions, and curled limbs. The *Ju Fang* calls these the "Eight Signs". Any green veins at the hairline and Yintang (GV29), or red, purple, green patterns on the Three Passages and Tiger's Mouth indicate convulsive disorder signs. Excess-heat constitutes Acute Convulsion, belonging to Liver Wood wind-pathogen excess, a Yang syndrome; Deficiency-heat constitutes Chronic Convulsion, belonging to Spleen Earth middle-qi insufficiency, a Yin syndrome. Chronic convulsion originally has no heat; the presence of heat is due to deficiency. Thus it is said that heat is distinguished by deficiency and excess. Boys convulse looking left, left eye rolls up; girls convulse looking right, right eye rolls down. Boys clench fists with thumb outwards; girls clench fists with thumb inwards. Five fingers interlocked like a ginger root handle indicates death. Boys' arms drawn back, left straight right curved; girls' arms drawn back, right straight left curved. All these are favorable; the reverse is unfavorable. Some convulse left first then both sides; if convulsion is favorable there is no sound, if unfavorable there is sound. Finger vein patterns curving inward are favorable, outward are unfavorable, half-in half-out are difficult to cure. Thus it is said that syndromes distinguish favorable and unfavorable.
Treatment distinguishes sequence and difficulty. Treating convulsions starts with stopping wind; treating wind starts with relieving fright; treating fright starts with resolving phlegm; treating phlegm starts with clearing heat. If all four syndromes exist, they must be treated simultaneously. If any is neglected, other syndromes will arise. Thus treatment has a sequence. Acute convulsion belongs to Fu organs and is easy to treat; chronic convulsion belongs to Zang organs and is difficult to treat.
Although the five viscera undergo many transformations, it is invariably phlegm and fire involved.
Fright pathogen entering the Heart causes red face and cheeks, night crying; entering the Liver causes blue-green face and eyes, eye rolling; entering the Spleen causes pale yellow face, vomiting and anorexia, deficiency sweating and excessive sleep; entering the Lung causes pale white face, panting and shortness of breath; entering the Kidney causes black face, biting nipple, grinding teeth. Convulsions during Yin, Mao, Chen hours indicate Liver Wood prosperity, treat with Shenqi Wan to tonify Kidney, Xieqing Wan to drain Liver; convulsions during Si, Wu, Wei hours indicate Heart Fire prosperity, treat with Shenqi Wan to tonify Liver (Note: Text says tonify Liver, likely error in source or specific context), Daochi San, Liangjing Wan to drain Heart; convulsions during Shen, You, Xu hours indicate Lung Metal prosperity, treat with Yihuang San to tonify Spleen, Daochi San to suppress Heart, Xieqing Wan to suppress Liver; convulsions during Hai, Zi, Chou hours indicate Water and Earth prosperity, but Water is deficient and not prosperous, only Earth is prosperous, treat with Yihuang San to tonify Spleen, Daochi San, Liangjing Wan to suppress Heart. Know that five viscera transformations are all caused by phlegm. Phlegm is the sprout of wind; when Wood is still, it hides in Spleen; when Fire moves, it obstructs Lung. Phlegm and fire interacting cause acute convulsion or throat bi; phlegm and fire stagnation cause epilepsy or cough; phlegm and fire coming and going use Xieqing Wan. All originate from Spleen dampness. Therefore, convulsive disorders forbid pure use of wind-dispelling drugs. Regardless of acute or chronic, blood-nourishing drugs should be used as guides. Bao Yuan Tang plus Baishao (White Peony Root) on the left is a fine formula for chronic convulsion.
Acute convulsion presents with locked jaw, tidal fever, constipation, thirst, and phlegm-saliva obstruction;
All eight signs of acute convulsion are present, plus red face and lips, whole-body high fever, hot breath, thirst with desire to drink, constipation, dark urine, floating-rapid-full-tight pulse.
The cause is internal excess-heat combined with external wind-pathogen. Wind and heat act together, causing chaotic qi and phlegm obstruction, leading to stagnation of all vessels and blockage of orifices. Onset is violent, returning to normal after attack. In infants under 100 days, if this syndrome occurs and does not stop after two or three attacks, death ensues.
First use harmonizing qi to open orifices.
In all convulsions, phlegm arises from qi depression; when qi flows smoothly, phlegm resolves and convulsions stop. First use Suhexiang Wan (Styrax Pill), decocted with Bohe (Mint), mixed with Jiangzhi (Ginger Juice) to swallow, smoothing qi, resolving phlegm, and opening orifices, or use Xingxiang San. For opening the jaw, blow medicine into the nose: use Tian Nan Xing (Arisaema) 1 qian, Pian Nao (Borneol) a little, grind to powder, mix with ginger juice, dip and rub on upper and lower gums; heat opens the jaw.
Next stop wind convulsions and clear heart field.
Jiefeng Wan: Tianma (Gastrodia), Jiangcan (Silkworm), Nan Xing (Arisaema) each 2 qian, Wugong (Centipede) 1, Baifu Zi (Typhonii Rhizoma), Fangfeng (Saposhnikovia), Zhusha (Cinnabar), Quanxie (Scorpion) each 1 qian, Shexiang (Musk) a little. Grind to powder, honey pills size of Sophora seeds. One pill dissolved in mint decoction, treats fright-phlegm convulsions. Dingchu San: Wugong (Centipede) 1, Mahuang (Ephedra), Nan Xing, Baifu, Jiangcan, Qianghuo, Daizheshi (Hematitum), Xieshao, Jianghuang (Curcuma), Zhusha each 1 qian, Shexiang 5 fen. Grind to powder. One zi dose, taken with Jingjie (Schizonepeta) and Zisu decoction, treats acute convulsion to stop spasms. If convulsions do not stop, add Wushe Rou (Agkistrodon Flesh) and Niuhuang Qingxin Wan (Calculus Bovis Clear Heart Pill).
After convulsions stop, if phlegm-heat remains, use Baolong Wan for purgation;
Dansheng (Arisaematis Cum Bile) 1 liang, Tianzhuhuang (Textiliae Hirtae Rhizoma) 5 qian, Chen Sha, Xionghuang (Realgar) each 2.5 qian, Shexiang 1 qian. Grind to powder, honey pills size of Euryale seeds. One pill dissolved in Gancao (Licorice) and Bohe decoction. For phlegm obstruction and severe cough, take with ginger soup; for heart deficiency and palpitations, take with Renshen (Ginseng) and Hupo (Amber) decoction. "Bao" means protect; "Long" refers to Liver, corresponding to Azure Dragon of the East, governing Hun (Ethereal Soul). When Hun is calm, fright settles. Treats pediatric fright, seasonal colds, plague, damp-phlegm evil heat causing restlessness, phlegm-cough, asthma, eruptive diseases, convulsions. Regular use dispels wind, resolves phlegm, calms fright, clears heat, harmonizes spleen/stomach, benefits spirit. Also treats gu poison, heatstroke, and leukorrhea in unmarried women. Chew 1-2 pills with a little salt, wash down with fresh water. Niuhuang Baolong Wan: Dansheng 8 qian, Xionghuang, Renshen, Fuling (Poria) each 1.5 qian, Chen Sha 1.2 qian, Jiangcan 3 fen, Gouteng (Uncaria) 1.5 liang, Tianzhuhuang 2.5 qian, Niuhuang 2 fen, Shexiang 5 fen. Grind to powder, mix with Gancao (4 liang) decocted paste, pills size of Euryale seeds, coat with Jinbo (Gold Foil), dry in shade, store away from air, warm slightly before use. Take 1 or half pill, ground in mint decoction. Treats all acute/chronic convulsions, wind-heat, wind-dementia. With heat, use Liangjing Wan; avoid Badou and hot drugs. For collapse and unconsciousness, use newborn bath method.
After purgation, warm gallbladder and stabilize soul.
For fright palpitations and stubborn phlegm, Wendan Tang (Warm Gallbladder Decoction) plus Suanzaoren (Zizyphus Seed), or Zhusha Anshen Wan (Cinnabar Calming Spirit Pill). After fright convulsions subside, if soul/gallbladder will are unsettled, Dingpo Wan: Renshen, Hupo, Fuling, Yuanzhi (Polygalae Radix), Zhusha, Tianma, Shichangpu (Acori Tatarinowii Rhizoma), Tiandongmen (Asparagi Radix), Suanzaoren, Gancao equal parts, grind to powder, honey pills size of soap bean, coat with Zhusha. One pill dissolved in Dengxin (Juncus) and Bohe decoction.
Awaken spleen to prevent entanglement by chronic convulsion.
Xingpi San: Renshen, Baizhu (Atractylodes Macrocephalae Rhizoma), Fuling, Gancao, Baifu Zi, Jiangcan, Tianma, Muxiang (Aucklandiae Radix) each 5 fen, Quanxie 2.5 fen. Decoct with Jiang/Zao, take warm, or make pills. Treats pediatric spleen fatigue, drowsiness, anorexia, persistent vomiting/diarrhea, phlegm-induced convulsions.
Chronic convulsion with vomiting/diarrhea, salivary wheezing, relaxed spirit, eyes open while sleeping showing whites; convulsions pause then recur, body hot or cold, face yellow/green.
Eyes half-open half-closed,似睡非睡 (sleeping but not quite), ten fingers opening/closing,似搐非搐 (convulsing but not quite), sometimes pulling of mouth/eyes/hands/feet. Pulse floating or deep, body cool or hot, vomiting or diarrhea or neither, nursing or not. Named Half-Yin Half-Yang Combined Disease, similar to Taiyang disease half-exterior half-interior.
Yin syndrome must be carefully distinguished from Yang syndrome.
Yin-syndrome chronic convulsion transmits from Yang-syndrome acute convulsion. Once vomiting/diarrhea occurs, it becomes chronic convulsion. In males, diarrhea makes it severe; in females, vomiting makes it severe.
Treat according to syndrome to generate stomach qi and stop wind form.
Caused by vomiting/diarrhea, use Lizhong Tang (Regulate Middle Decoction) plus Muxiang, or Wuling San (Five-Ling Powder). Spleen fatigue/anorexia, use Xingpi San. Caused by organ cold and watery diarrhea, use Jiawei Shu Fu Tang: Fuzi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata), Baizhu each 1 liang, Roudoukou (Myristica Seed) 1, Muxiang, Gancao each 5 qian. 2 qian dose, decoct with Jiang/Zao before eating. Treats post-vomit/diarrhea spleen deficiency transforming into chronic convulsion, arched body, vomiting milk, lethargy, sweating. Use this to warm cold, dry damp, move qi, strengthen spleen. Caused by lower jiao accumulation, first use Muxiang Yunqi San. Caused by exterior cold, first use Guizhi Jieji Tang (Cinnamon Twig Muscle-Releasing Decoction). Caused by summer spleen/stomach latent heat with severe vomiting/diarrhea, resolve summerheat, do not solely restore yang. Other long-term cough, dysentery, taiyang transforming to yin, overuse of cold drugs, can be inferred similarly.
There is also Yang syndrome Chanxie San.
If initially transmitted but Yang syndrome signs of eight manifestations remain, add wind-stopping/spasm-calming drugs like Quanxie, Huashe (Bungarus), Jiangcan, Baifu Zi, Tianma, Nan Xing to stomach-generating drugs. Cold or hot, balance yin/yang, do not solely restore yang. If transmitting to chronic convulsion, Chanxie San: Quanxie 7, Chantui (Cicada Slough) 20, Nan Xing 1, Gancao 2.5 qian. 5 fen dose, decoct with Jiang/Zao. Unconscious, use Baoming Dan. Vomiting/diarrhea/phlegm obstruction, use Laifu Dan.
If purely Yin, use Wuxie San.
Already transmitted to chronic convulsion, no external eight signs, only persistent vomiting/diarrhea, Wuxie San: Renshen, Baizhu, Fuling, Gancao, Chuanwu (Aconiti Radix), Quanxie, Nan Xing each 1 fen. Decoct with Jiang/Zao. If taking again, remove Chuanwu.
Cold extremities, restore yang with Liufu Wan.
Liufu Wan: Sheng Fuzi (Raw Aconite Tip) 2, Xieshao 7, Shu Liuhuang (Prepared Sulfur) 1 qian. Grind to powder, ginger juice pills size of mung bean. 10 pills dose, rice drink. Also treats slow spleen wind, cold limbs. Or Xieshao Bing, Jin Ye Dan, Ling Sha Dan, or Sijunzi Tang plus Fuzi to assist stomach and restore yang.
Body warms with Mengshi and Wuling.
Wind-phlegm obstruction, ancient Mengshi Wan: Qingmengshi (Fluorite) crushed 1 liang, Yanxiao (Saltpeter) 5 qian, calcined in clay pot over charcoal until red, cool, grind to powder, steamed dough pills size of mung bean. 2 pills dose, acute convulsion: Bohe/Jingjie decoction; chronic convulsion/spleen: Muxiang decoction. Mengshi/Xiao can drain phlegm but are harsh on stomach, so Muxiang assists. It wraps phlegm to exit via stool without feces, not disturbing viscera, showing efficacy. Phlegm-convulsion forbidding purgation, Lingzhi Wan: Wulingzhi (Trogopteri Dung), Baifu Zi, Muxiang, Jiangcan each 1 fen, Quanxie 0.5 fen, Zhusha 1 qian, Nan Xing 5 qian. Grind to powder, raw Banxia (Pinellia) paste boiled in vinegar, pills size of hemp seed. 3 pills dose, ginger soup. Anshen San: Quanxie 4, soak in pond water overnight. Nan Xing 1, pierce hole, insert scorpion, cover with Nan Xing powder, wrap in dough, roast until red, bury in earth overnight to remove fire toxicity. Remove Nan Xing, grind scorpion to powder. One zi dose, mix with knife-grinding water. Also treats convulsions. Comatose with phlegm, Baiyu Bing. Musk opens orifices, Longnao/Borneol, Fenqing reduce saliva, Zhusha cools heart; all set for pure yang excess-heat, deficiency requires careful consideration.
Slow spleen wind slight convulsions, eyes fully closed.
After chronic convulsion, vomiting/diarrhea damages spleen extremely, hence called Spleen Wind. Dispelling wind finds no wind; treating fright finds no fright. Only spleen phlegm-saliva, deficiency-heat往来 (coming and going). Eyes closed: spleen fatigue, spirit confused, phlegm-saliva stagnation, difficult to treat. Some do not transmit from acute/chronic wind.
Head low, shaking, sleeping, forehead sweat profuse. Short tongue, frequent vomiting, jaw locked, grinding teeth, body cold/discomfort; touching people, voice low. How to generate stomach and restore yang?
Initial transmission to slow spleen, yang qi not yet severely depleted, Baijiangcan Wan: Nan Xing 2 qian, Jiangcan, Dilong (Earthworm), Quanxie, Wulingzhi each 1 qian. Grind to powder, Banqu (Medicated Leaven) paste pills size of hemp seed. 5 pills dose, ginger soup. Wind excess, cold extremities, Heifu Tang: Fuzi 3 fen, Muxiang 1.5 fen, Baifu Zi 1 fen, Gancao 0.5 fen. Decoct with ginger, until hands/feet warm and patient revives. Then Sijunzi Tang plus Fuzi, or Yigong San, to warm middle and rectify qi. Spleen fatigue/anorexia, Xingpi San; vomiting/diarrhea, Jiawei Shu Fu Tang, Liufu Wan; severe, Laifu Dan, Jin Ye Dan.
Ma Pi Feng due to severe lung cold, phlegm-cough syndrome most critical.
Cold pathogen stays in Feishu (BL13), transforms to heat, generates phlegm-wheeze, hiccups, upward qi/lung distension, Ma Pi Feng (common name). If not treated quickly, critical. Use Baolong Wan or Ma Pi Feng San: Chen Sha 2.5 qian, Fenqing 5 fen, Gansui (Kansui Root) 1.5 qian. Grind to powder. One zi dose, warm grain water, drop sesame oil, place medicine on oil bubble to sink, remove water and灌 (pour) medicine. Divine effect.
If only phlegm-cough about to cause convulsions, Xingsu Baoming cures.
First Xingxing San, Shenru Yin, Renshen Qianghuo San; then Baoming Dan: Quanxie 14, Fangfeng, Nan Xing, Chantui, Jiangcan, Tianma, Hupo each 2 qian, Baifu Zi, Chen Sha each 1 qian, Shexiang 5 fen. With heat add Niuhuang, Pian Nao; one formula adds Qianghuo. Grind to powder, glutinous rice paste pills size of soap bean, coat with 10 Jinbo sheets. Newborn half pill, milk dissolution; >10 years old 2 pills, Gouteng/Dengxin decoction or Bohe/Jinyinhua (Honeysuckle) decoction dissolution. Treats newborn umbilical wind, night crying, fetal fright, internal hook, hard abdomen, eye rolling up, limb convulsions, opisthotonos, phlegm obstruction, all acute/chronic convulsions with Yang signs. Regular use calms spirit, resolves phlegm. For Tiandiao, add Xijiao (Rhinoceros Horn - substitute Buffalo Horn), Tianjiangzi, boar bile pills, well water dissolution, blow into nose to sneeze; then Gouteng decoction. Exterior contraction complicated by fright also prevents with this method.
Epilepsy
Three attacks of fright-convulsion become epilepsy (evil syndrome), involving five viscera resembling fright-convulsion.
Heart Epilepsy: red face, staring eyes, protruding tongue, vexation, palpitations. Jinbo Zhenxin Wan or Zhenxin Wan: Yuanzhi, Xionghuang, Tiefen (Iron Powder), Hupo each 2 qian, Chen Sha 1 qian, Shexiang 5 fen. Jujube meat pills size of soybean, coat with 20 gold/silver foil sheets. One pill, Maidong (Ophiopogon) decoction dissolution. Liver Epilepsy: blue face, upward rolling, clenched hands/feet, spasms/reversal. Sanfeng Dan: Dansheng 2 qian, Qianghuo, Duhuo, Fangfeng, Tianma, Renshen, Jingjie, Chuanxiong (Ligusticum), Xixin (Asarum), Chaihu each 1 qian. Grind to powder, honey pills size of Sophora seeds. 2 pills, larger 3-4 pills, Zisu decoction dissolution. Also treats Gang Jing (Stiff Spasm). Spleen Epilepsy: yellow face, staring, abdominal fullness, spontaneous diarrhea. Miaosheng Dan: Daizheshi, Xionghuang, Xieshao, Chen Sha, Xingren (Apricot Seed) each 2 qian, Fenqing, Shexiang each 5 fen, Badou 2 grains. Grind to powder, jujube meat pills size of Sophora seeds. One pill, Xingren decoction dissolution. Lung Epilepsy: white face, backward gaze, fright-spasms, foaming saliva. Tianxing Wan: Dansheng, Quanxie, Chantui each 2.5 qian, Fangfeng, Baifu Zi, Tianma, Jiangcan each 1.5 qian, Shexiang 5 fen. Grind to powder, jujube meat pills size of mung bean. 3 pills, Jingjie/Shengjiang decoction dissolution. Kidney Epilepsy: dark dull face, trembling eyes staring at people, mouth spitting clear foam, motionless like corpse. Shenxian Tang: Duhuo, Mahuang, Chuanxiong, Dahuang, Gancao each 6 fen. Decoct with ginger.
Soft constitution, occasional clarity, and differentiation; Wind, Fright, Food, Epilepsy treatments differ.
Pediatric qi/blood not gathered, qi/bone not condensed, injured by wind pathogen, named Wind Epilepsy. Fingers curling like counting, heat generating phlegm, first disperse wind, then clear phlegm/heat, calm spirit/stop spasms, Sanfeng Dan. Due to fright named Fright Epilepsy, terror accumulated fright, crying/confusion, first treat fright, then clear Triple Burner, remove heat/resolve phlegm, Zishi San or Dingpo Wan, coat with Qingdai (Indigo Naturalis) 1 qian, dissolve in Jin/Yin, Bohe, Chuanxiong decoction. Due to food named Food Epilepsy, or stopping breastfeeding due to fright during eating, sour/foul stool or constipation, initial cold then heat, first resolve accumulation, then treat epilepsy. Phlegm-fire causing epilepsy, expectorate phlegm/purge fire/calm fright, Zishuang Wan, take with Xieshao decoction, or Xingpi San pills. General for all epilepsies: Jingjisui (Schizonepeta Head) 2 liang, Baifan (Alumen) 1 liang (half raw half calcined), grind to powder, wheat paste pills size of millet, coat with Zhusha. 20 pills dose, ginger soup.
Acute Convulsion, Sanxian Dan: Wugong 1, Nan Xing 2 qian, Quanxie, Fangfeng, Yuanzhi, Baifu Zi, Lvhua (Aloe), Yuansu (Corydalis), Chen Sha each 1 qian, Shexiang one zi, Jin/Yinbo 3 sheets each. Grind to powder, paste pills size of Sophora seeds. One pill, Zisu/Shichangpu decoction dissolution. Chronic Convulsion, Laifu Dan, 1-2 pills Bohe soaked water dissolution, relief upon defecation. If effective but not fully revived, take more. When epilepsy begins, green lines behind ear high bone, thread-like, scratch immediately to bleed, crying helps qi flow. Wash baby clothes, do not expose at night, fear contamination by female bird feathers, touching causes epilepsy. Evil-complicated strange cases, color changes irregularly, shy/scared of people.
Yang epilepsy body heat, Yin epilepsy cold.
Yang epilepsy body heat, spasms, crying supine, shiny face, floating pulse, Fu organ disease easy to treat; Yin epilepsy body cold, no spasms/crying, prone face dark, deep pulse, Zang organ disease difficult to treat. Yang epilepsy forbids warm drugs, Yin epilepsy forbids cold drugs. Ancient formulas for Yin/Yang epilepsy use Daizheshi calcined, quenched in vinegar, ground to powder. 5 fen dose, Gold/Silver decoction, add Jinbo, mix and take.
Clearing heart and resolving phlegm is the skill of superior physicians.
Blood stasis in heart orifice, evil qi in heart, accumulated fright becomes epilepsy. Thus regulating heart meridian qi/blood and resolving phlegm is essential. General: Zhu Xin Wan (Pig Heart Pill) or Zhuli Wan (Bamboo Juice Pill): Baizhu honey-fried...
