Remove Fuzi (Prepared Aconite Root) and Xingren (Apricot Seed), and pound the remaining herbs into coarse powder. Then add these two ingredients and mix evenly. Take five qian per dose, with two and a half zhan of water and five slices of Shengjiang (Fresh Ginger). Decoct until one zhan remains, remove the dregs, and take it slightly warm before meals. If there is no sweating and aversion to cold, add Mahuang (Ephedra Herb), Fangfeng (Saposhnikovia Root), and Xingren (Apricot Seed); increase the dosage of the aforementioned ingredients by double according to the base formula. It is appropriate to puncture Zhiyin (BL67) of the Taiyang Bladder Meridian to induce bleeding. If there is sweating and aversion to wind, add Guizhi (Cinnamon Twig), Shaoyao (Peony Root), and Xingren (Apricot Seed); increase the dosage of the aforementioned ingredients by double according to the base formula. It is appropriate to puncture Fengfu (GV16). The above two syndromes belong to Wind-Stroke of the Taiyang Bladder Meridian. If the body is hot, there is no sweating, and no aversion to cold, add Zhimu (Anemarrhena Rhizome), Shigao (Gypsum Fibrosum), and Gancao (Licorice Root). If the body is hot, there is sweating, and no aversion to cold, add Gegen (Pueraria Root), Guizhi (Cinnamon Twig), and Huangqin (Scutellaria Root); increase the dosage of the aforementioned ingredients by double according to the base formula. It is appropriate to puncture Xianggu (ST41) and prick Liding (ST45). Puncturing Xianggu (ST41) removes the pathogen from the Yangming Stomach Meridian. Pricking Liding (ST45) drains excess from the Yangming Stomach Meridian. The above two syndromes belong to Wind-Stroke of the Yangming Stomach Meridian. If there is no sweating and the body feels cool, add Fuzi (Prepared Aconite Root), Ganjiang (Dried Ginger), and Gancao (Licorice Root). It is appropriate to puncture Yinbai (SP1) to remove the pathogen from the Taiyin Spleen Meridian. This syndrome belongs to Wind-Stroke of the Taiyin Spleen Meridian. If there is sweating but no fever, add Guizhi (Cinnamon Twig), Fuzi (Prepared Aconite Root), and Gancao (Licorice Root); if the dosage is doubled according to the base formula, it is appropriate to puncture Taixi (KI3). This syndrome belongs to Wind-Stroke of the Shaoyin Kidney Meridian.
If none of these four syndromes are present, and the symptoms of the Six Channels are confused, involving the Shaoyang Gallbladder and Jueyin Liver meridians, or presenting with limb joint spasms and pain, or numbness and insensitivity, Qianghuo Lianqiao Xuming Tang (Notopterygium and Forsythia Decoction for Reviving Life) is appropriate.
Xiao Xuming Tang (Minor Decoction for Reviving Life) (Total weight: 8 liang) Qianghuo (Notopterygium Rhizome and Root) (4 liang) Lianqiao (Forsythia Fruit) (6 liang)
In ancient times, Xuming Tangs were not differentiated by meridian. Now, treatment is established according to meridian differentiation, combined with acupuncture at specific meridians, ensuring recovery. The treatment method involves puncturing Dacun (LR1), the Jing-Well point of the Jueyin Liver Meridian, to unblock the meridian, and moxibustion on Jiegu (GB39) of the Shaoyang Gallbladder Meridian to draw out heat. This illustrates the principle of combining acupuncture and moxibustion, which is the general approach to treatment.
Attached are the modification methods from Yun Qizi: For mental confusion, add Fuling (Poria) and Yuanzhi (Polygala Root). For irritability and frequent fright, add Xijiao (Rhinoceros Horn - *Note: Substitute with Buffalo Horn in modern practice*) 0.5 liang. For painful joints with heat, remove Fuzi (Prepared Aconite Root) and double Shaoyao (Peony Root). For cold pain in the bones, double Guizhi (Cinnamon Twig) and Fuzi (Prepared Aconite Root). For restlessness, chest oppression, and dysuria, remove Fuzi (Prepared Aconite Root), double Shaoyao (Peony Root), and add Zhuli (Bamboo Sap) 1 he. Decoct and take. For cold deficiency diarrhea/dysentery, remove Fangji (Stephania Root) and Huangqin (Scutellaria Root), double Fuzi (Prepared Aconite Root), and add Baizhu (Atractylodes Macrocephala Rhizome) 1 liang (*Note: Do not use Fuzi for heat-type dysentery*). For weak legs, add Niuxi (Achyranthes Root) and Shihu (Dendrobium Stem) each 1 liang. For body pain, add Qinjiao (Gentiana Macrophylla Root) 1 liang. For lower back pain, add Taoren (Peach Kernel) and Duzhong (Eucommia Bark) each 0.5 liang. For loss of voice, add Xingren (Apricot Seed) 1 liang. For manic behavior such as singing or laughing uncontrollably, use Mahuang (Ephedra Herb) 3 liang, Renshen (Ginseng Root) 2 liang, Guizhi (Cinnamon Twig) 2 liang, Baizhu (Atractylodes Macrocephala Rhizome) 2 liang; do not use Fuzi (Prepared Aconite Root), Fangfeng (Saposhnikovia Root), or Shengjiang (Fresh Ginger); add Danggui (Angelica Sinensis Root) 1 liang. For spontaneous sweating, remove Mahuang (Ephedra Herb) and Xingren (Apricot Seed), and add Baizhu (Atractylodes Macrocephala Rhizome). In spring, add Mahuang (Ephedra Herb) 1 liang. In summer, add Huangqin (Scutellaria Root) 7 qian. In autumn, add Danggui (Angelica Sinensis Root) 4 liang. In winter, add Fuzi (Prepared Aconite Root) 0.5 liang.
If there is obstruction of stool and urine internally, use Sanhua Tang (Three Transformations Decoction) to guide them out.
Houpo (Magnolia Bark, processed with ginger) Dahuang (Rhubarb Root and Rhizome) Zhishi (Immature Bitter Orange) Qianghuo (Notopterygium Rhizome and Root) (Equal parts)
Cut into pieces the size of hemp seeds. Take 3 liang per dose, with 3 sheng of water, decoct to 1.5 sheng. Stop when mild purgation occurs. Once internal pathogens are eliminated and external pathogens are exhausted, switch to Yufeng Tang (Wind-Nourishing Decoction) to regulate the middle pathway. Long-term use will eliminate severe wind pathogens; even if mild pathogens remain, treat by modifying Yufeng Tang (Wind-Nourishing Decoction). However, treatment must not neglect the balance of unblocking and obstructing. Sometimes induce slight sweating over one qi cycle, or promote bowel movement over ten days. This is the standard method. Over time, clear and turbid qi will separate naturally, and Ying and Wei (Nutritive and Defensive Qi) will harmonize.
Qianghuo Yufeng Tang (Notopterygium Wind-Nourishing Decoction) Treats Liver and Kidney deficiency, weak sinews and bones, difficulty speaking, mental confusion, and weakness due to internal Wind-Damp, manifesting as heaviness from Wind-Heat. Or emaciation with hemiplegia of one side, or obesity with hemiplegia, or fearfulness with amnesia, excessive joy with overthinking. These issues stem from insufficiency of Essence. Thus, when the Heart is chaotic, diseases arise; when calm, diseases cease. Therefore, this medicine calms the Heart and nourishes the Spirit, harmonizes Yin and Yang, preventing excess. (*Baoming Ji* states: When internal pathogens are eliminated and external pathogens are exhausted, take this medicine to circulate through the meridians. Long-term use eliminates severe wind; even if mild pathogens remain, modify and take this medicine. If wind sensations occur, taking this prevents falling.)

Cut into pieces. Take 1 liang per dose, with 2 zhan of water, decoct to 1 zhan. Remove dregs and take warm. On cloudy days, add 3 slices of Shengjiang (Fresh Ginger). Take one dose on an empty stomach, and decoct the dregs again for a dose before sleep. Both should be taken well after meals. Swallow Er Dan Wan (Two Cinnabar Pills) on an empty stomach (Heavy Dose); swallow Sibai Dan (Four White Pills) before sleep (Light Dose). Movement calms the Spirit; stillness clears the Lungs. To induce slight sweating over one qi cycle, use 3 liang of Yufeng Tang (Wind-Nourishing Decoction) plus 1 liang of Mahuang (Ephedra Herb), divided into four doses. Add 5-7 slices of Shengjiang (Fresh Ginger) per dose, take on an empty stomach, and follow with congee. Stop when slight sweating occurs. To promote bowel movement over ten days, use 3 liang of Yufeng Tang (Wind-Nourishing Decoction) plus 1 liang of Dahuang (Rhubarb Root and Rhizome), divided into four doses, decoct as before, and take before sleep. Ideal outcome is bowel movement. For long-term use, do not neglect seasonal support: After Great Cold in Spring, add Banxia (Pinellia Tuber) 2 liang, Chaihu (Bupleurum Root) 2 liang, Renshen (Ginseng Root) 2 liang, Mutong (Akebia Stem) 4 liang (to overcome Shaoyang Qi). At Start of Summer, add Shigao (Gypsum Fibrosum) 2 liang, Huangqin (Scutellaria Root) 2 liang, Zhimu (Anemarrhena Rhizome) 2 liang (to overcome Yangming Qi). After Frost Descent in Winter, add Fuzi (Prepared Aconite Root) 1 liang, Guanzi Gui (Cinnamon Bark) 1 liang, Danggui (Angelica Sinensis Root) 2 liang (to overcome Shaoyin Qi). In Spring, reduce winter additions; apply similarly for other seasons. This medicine treats Seven Emotions, Six Desires, and Four Qi, preventing organ excess and protecting Ying and Wei (Nutritive and Defensive Qi). For Wind-Constipation, it prevents dryness. For chronic diarrhea, it aids self-regulation. Take at the first sign of wind. Combined with Tianma Wan (Gastrodia Pill) from *Ju Fang*, they form interior-exterior pairs, serving as holy medicines for preventive treatment. Effective for wind epilepsy, acute/chronic wind in men, women, and children.

If wind-stroke presents without Six Channel exterior signs and without internal obstruction of stool/urine, it is known that Blood deficiency fails to nourish sinews, causing immobility of limbs and stiff tongue preventing speech. Nourish Blood so sinews become prosperous. Use Qinjiao Tang (Gentiana Decoction) as the main prescription.
Qinjiao (Gentiana Macrophylla Root) Shigao (Gypsum Fibrosum) Gancao (Licorice Root) Chuanxiong (Ligusticum Rhizome) Danggui (Angelica Sinensis Root) Qianghuo (Notopterygium Rhizome and Root) Duhuo (Angelica Pubescens Root) Fangfeng (Saposhnikovia Root) Huangqin (Scutellaria Root) Baishaoyao (White Peony Root) Baizhi (Angelica Dahurica Root) Baizhu (Atractylodes Macrocephala Rhizome) Shengdi (Rehmannia Root, fresh) Shudi (Prepared Rehmannia Root) Baifuling (White Poria) (Each 1 liang) Xixin (Asarum Root) (0.5 liang)

Avoid stagnation and lack of free flow. If feeling congested after half a month of medication, lightly disperse with Qixuan Wan (Seven Unblocking Pills) to facilitate drug action.
For those with chronic phlegm and long-term wind-stroke, where fluids surge in the chest blocking Qi, use Dusheng San (Single Holy Powder) to induce vomiting, followed by Qi-moving and Fire-draining agents.
Dusheng San (Single Holy Powder) Treats various winds with phlegm obstruction, epilepsy, salivary overflow, and fluid surging.
Use Genti (Melon Peduncle) 1 liang, stir-fried yellow, made into powder. Dosage depends on deficiency/excess and duration. Mix 2 qian powder with 1 qian tea and 1 zhong sour vinegar juice.
Vomiting therapy requires clear weather; avoid cloudy days. Not applicable for sudden/critical cases. Vomiting should be done during Chen (7-9 AM) or Mao (5-7 AM) hours. As *Neijing* states: Dawn to noon is Heaven's Yang, Yang among Yang. According to Zhang Zhongjing's principles, Spring favors vomiting because Heaven's Qi is above and Human Qi is above; Chen/Mao hours correspond to this timing, hence morning is better than night. Fast overnight. If vomiting does not occur, give hot water. For wind-epilepsy vomiting, add Quanxie (Scorpion) 0.5 fen, lightly fried. If parasites are present, add Dog Oil 5-7 drops and Xionghuang (Realgar) powder 1 qian. For severe cases, add Yuanhua (Kerria Flower) 0.5 fen to expel worms immediately. For damp swelling/fullness, add Chixiaodou (Adzuki Bean) powder 1 qian. Do not use frequently; distinguish deficiency/excess. Excess uses Genti San (Melon Peduncle Powder); Deficiency uses Zhizi Chi Tang (Gardenia and Fermented Soybean Decoction), adding Houpo (Magnolia Bark) for fullness. Do not use indiscriminately. After vomiting, take Fire-descending, Qi-promoting, Spirit-calming agents.
