Chi Ku Chu (Tooth Socket Ulcer)
When people reach old age, tooth loss is inevitable. When teeth fall out, the root sockets are deepest and largest. With deficiency and decline of Qi and Blood, the socket contracts urgently but fails to close. In some cases, it may partially heal but is suddenly broken by hard objects, making tea and food intake inconvenient. The pain is severe, penetrating to the bones, heart, and brain. Moreover, since oral intake of tea and food is impossible, these ulcers are among the most difficult to heal. Prescriptions are listed below.
Tai Pi Chu (Fetal Skin Ulcer)
This ulcer occurs because, while in the mother's womb, the mother did not restrain her diet, consuming excessive amounts of "Five Pungent Spices" (Wu Xin: garlic, chives, leeks, alliums, and asafetida) and roasted foods. Or, if the parents had skin sores at the time of conception, it causes the newborn to be born without skin, resembling skin removed by scalding hot water. This may affect half the body or just the head and face. Treatment should utilize Yufen San (Jade Powder Powder) to dry and astringe; avoiding detoxifying agents will ensure safety.
Feng Re Chu (Wind-Heat Ulcer)
Initially, this ulcer presents as papules that are intolerably itchy; scratching leads to ulceration. It resembles Scabies (Jie) but is not Scabies. It arises from the Lungs being affected by Wind-Heat, manifesting in the skin and hair follicles. Treatment with Fangfeng Tongsheng San (Saposhnikovia Decoction for Unblocking the Heroic Path) for several doses is appropriate, leading to recovery within three to five days. Unlike Scabies, which is difficult to cure, failure to treat early may result in the condition spreading over the entire body, becoming Leprosy-like (Lai).
Huang Shui Chu (Yellow Water Ulcer)
Also known as Di Nong Chu (Dripping Pus Ulcer). Wherever the fluid from the ulcer flows, new ulcers form. This is caused by Damp-Heat in the Spleen Meridian. Treatment should employ herbs that drain Dampness, clear Heat, and cool the Blood. Externally, Xuanfen San (Mysterious Powder Powder) should be applied according to whether the lesion is wet or dry, leading to quick recovery. Prescriptions are listed below.
Shang Shou Chu (Hand-Injury Ulcer / Sexual Depletion Ulcer)
For conditions such as carbuncles and boils, sexual intercourse must be prohibited. Adhering to this ensures safety during treatment. If one cannot abstain, the ulcer will persist and fail to heal, hence the name Shang Shou Chu (often misinterpreted colloquially as "hand injury," but correctly referring to "Shang Shou" meaning depletion through sexual activity, originally termed Shang Shou Chu). Internal treatment involves Buzhong Yiqi Tang (Tonify the Middle and Augment the Qi Decoction) combined with specialized dermatological herbs. Externally, based on the size and excess/deficiency nature of the ulcer, treatments such as steaming, fumigation, or topical application should be chosen judiciously to ensure safety. Prescriptions are listed below.
