[Zhang Zhongjing] When a pregnant woman suffers from abdominal pain, Danggui Shaoyao San (Angelica and Peony Powder) is the primary treatment. (See previous section.)
[Li Dongyuan] Dihuang Danggui Tang (Rehmannia and Angelica Decoction) treats fetal pain in pregnant women.
Danggui (Radix Angelicae Sinensis, 1 liang) Shudihuang (Prepared Rhizoma Rehmanniae, 2 liang)

[Zhang Zhongjing] When a woman suffers from abdominal pain, Xiao Jianzhong Tang (Minor Construct the Middle Decoction) is the primary treatment. (Formula see Cold Damage Abdominal Pain.)
[Anonymous/Cited Source] Xionggui Tang (Ligusticum and Angelica Decoction) treats pregnancy complicated by pre-existing cold qi, suddenly causing heart and abdominal pain like knife stabbing. (See previous Heart and Abdominal Pain section.)
[Zhu Danxi] Sun Yuanjun injured her fetus by being exposed to foul miasma near a funeral, resulting in abdominal pain so severe that it could not be touched, fever, and loss of appetite. The treatment requires calming the fetus and dispersing stagnant qi.
Qingpi (Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae Viride, 3 qian) Huangqin (Radix Scutellariae, 2 qian) Shaoyao (Radix Paeoniae Alba, 2 qian) Guiwei (Cauda Radicis Angelicae Sinensis, 1.5 qian) Chuanxiong (Rhizoma Chuanxiong, 1 qian) Muxiang (Radix Aucklandiae, 5 fen) Gancao (Radix Glycyrrhizae Preparata, a little)
Divide into two doses, add three zhan of water, first decoct two large slices of Zhugen (Radix Boehmeriae/Nephrolepidis, depending on context, usually Boehmeria nivea root for pregnancy) until reduced to two zhan, remove Zhugen, add the aforementioned herbs, decoct to one zhan, and take hot.

[Master/Pulse Classic] The Master said: If a pregnant woman has fetal abdominal pain and feels uneasy, if the fetus is not moving, to determine life or death, have someone palpate the abdomen. If it feels like an inverted cup, it is a male; if it feels uneven like elbows and necks protruding, it is a female. Cold areas indicate death, warm areas indicate life.
[Xue Ji citing ancient text] Fetal lower abdominal pain is caused by deficiency of the uterine collaterals, where wind and cold fight each other; severe pain can also cause fetal movement.
[Xue Ji] For the above syndromes caused by wind-cold attack, use Zisu Yin (Perilla Infusion) with added Shengjiang (Fresh Rhizoma Zingiberis). For Qi and Blood deficiency, use Bazhen Tang (Eight Treasures Decoction). For Spleen Qi deficiency, use Liujunzi Tang (Six Gentlemen Decoction). for Middle Qi deficiency, use Buzhong Yiqi Tang (Tonify the Middle and Augment the Qi Decoction). If there is abdominal distension and pain, use Antai Yin (Fetus-Calming Infusion) with added Shengma (Rhizoma Cimicifugae) and Baizhu (Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae); if ineffective, combine with Buzhong Yiqi Tang.
A pregnant woman suffered lower abdominal pain with fetal instability, Qi attacking left and right, sometimes counterflow upward, and difficult urination. She was treated with Xiaochaihu Tang (Minor Bupleurum Decoction) plus Qingpi (Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae Viride) and Shanzhi (Fructus Gardeniae), clearing Liver Fire, which led to recovery. Later, due to anger, she experienced lower abdominal distension and fullness, difficult urination, heavy bearing sensation in the urinary tract, and continued fetal instability. This was also caused by excessive Liver Wood fire. One dose of Longdan Xiegan Tang (Gentiana Decoction to Drain the Liver) cured all symptoms immediately. Subsequently, Sijunzi Tang (Four Gentlemen Decoction) with Chaihu (Radix Bupleuri) and Shengma (Rhizoma Cimicifugae) was used to nourish Spleen Earth and calm the fetus.
To treat pregnancy complicated by fright and annoyance, with downward fetal instability, lower abdominal pain radiating to the waist, and bleeding:
Danggui (Radix Angelicae Sinensis) Chuanxiong (Rhizoma Chuanxiong) (each 8 fen) Ejiao (Colla Corii Asini Prepared) Renshen (Radix Ginseng) Aiye (Folium Artemisiae Argyi) (each 4 fen) Dazao (Fructus Jujubae, 20 pieces) Fuling (Sclerotium Poriae, 10 fen)
Finely chop, add four sheng of water, decoct to obtain two sheng, take warm, divided into three doses.
"Supplement to Lost Texts" treats pregnant women's lower abdominal pain and fetal restlessness.
Chuanxiong (Rhizoma Chuanxiong) ground into fine powder, taken with wine.
Another prescription: Chuanxiong (Rhizoma Chuanxiong) Danggui (Radix Angelicae Sinensis) (equal parts) decocted in water and taken warm.
