Treats internal heat and toxin congestion in smallpox and measles.
The formula is found in Volume VIII, Lower Section, under "Fire-Draining Category".
Without heat, toxins do not transform; when heat is congested, toxins also fail to resolve. Therefore, Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma) is used to drain Heart Fire, Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix) to drain Lung and Liver Fire, Huangbai (Phellodendri Cortex) to drain Kidney Fire, Zhizi (Gardeniae Fructus) to drain...
Treats severe thirst due to internal heat in smallpox.
The formula is found in Volume VIII, Lower Section, under "Fire-Draining Category", as an attached formula to Baihu Tang (White Tiger Decoction).
Shigao (Gypsum Fibrosum) clears Stomach Heat; once Stomach Heat is cleared, thirst ceases. Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma), Zhimu (Anemarrhenae Rhizoma), and Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma) transform Qi and generate body fluids; once fluids are generated, heat naturally dissipates.
Treats scanty and difficult urination in smallpox.
Cheqianzi (Plantaginis Semen), Chifuling (Poria with Red Hostwood), Shanzhiren (Gardeniae Semen Exocarpium), Sheng Gancao Shao (Radix Glycyrrhizae Preparata Tip), Mutong (Akebiae Caulis), Bianxu (Polygoni Avicularis Herba), Longdancao (Gentianae Radix).
In treating smallpox, it is essential to promote diuresis, so that water follows its proper course, thereby restoring bodily harmony (as heaven and earth are in order). In this formula, Cheqianzi lubricates orifices, Chifuling leaches out dampness, Mutong...
Treats yellow-red urine, dry mouth, and irritability with thirst in smallpox and measles.
Sheng Dihuang (Rehmanniae Radix), Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma), Maimendong (Ophiopogonis Tuber), Mutong (Akebiae Caulis), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma), Zhuye (Bambusae Folium), Dengxin (Junci Medulla).
Due to internal heat, Sheng Dihuang is used. Due to red-yellow urine, Mutong, Zhuye, and Dengxin are used to guide the elimination. Due to dry mouth, irritability, and thirst, Maimendong, Renshen, and Gancao are used to moisten, which is...
Treats internal heat in smallpox and measles, yellow-red urine, and unclear spirit.
The formula is found in Volume VII, Upper Section, under "Summerheat-Dispelling Category", as an attached formula to Liuyisan (Six-to-One Powder).
Huashi (Talcum) clears and promotes urination through the Six Fu Organs, Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma) resolves heat and harmonizes the Middle Jiao, Chen Sha (Cinnabaris) calms the spirit and removes timidity. Remove Gancao, use Huashi and Chen Sha each at one qian, processed by water flotation, add Bingpian (Borneolum Syntheticum)...

Treats severe toxicity in smallpox pustules, presenting as grayish-white color and lack of itching.
Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix), Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma), Danpi (Moutan Cortex), Jiangcan (Bombyx Batryticatus), Jingjie (Schizonepetae Spica), Niubangzi (Arctii Fructus), Huafen (Puerariae Radix), Yinhua (Lonicerae Japonicae Flos), Shengdi (Rehmanniae Radix), plus Dengxin (Junci Medulla).
The pustules erupt spontaneously, reaching the peak stage, but due to Qi deficiency, there are...
Patients with critical conditions should use this formula.
Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma), Huangqi (Astragali Radix), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma), plus Shengjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens).
For cases where Qi deficiency causes the pustule apex to sink, this formula is the primary treatment. (Wang Ji stated: Wei Zhi from Xiaoshan authored *Boxin Jian* [Mirror of Compassionate Heart], three volumes, discussing pediatric smallpox, categorizing them into Smooth, Critical, and Reverse patterns...)
Use Baoyuan Tang (Tonify Origin Decoction) to protect Qi.
