After vomiting and diarrhea, sweating occurs, the pulse is normal, and there is slight restlessness; this is because the body is newly deficient and cannot withstand the qi of food.
Differentiation of Pulse and Syndrome of Spasm Disease, Yin-Yang Exchange Disease, and Post-Illness Convalescence
In Taiyang disease, with fever, no sweating, and aversion to cold, if the pulse is deep and slow, it is named Gang-Jing (Rigid Spasm).
In Taiyang disease, with fever, sweating, and no aversion to cold, if the pulse is floating and rapid, it is named Rou-Jing (Soft Spasm).
In Taiyang disease, with fever and a pulse that is deep and fine, it is named Ri-Jing (Sun Spasm), which is difficult to treat.
Taiyang disease, if excessive sweating is induced, may lead to Jing (Spasm).
If a patient with Wind disease undergoes purgation, spasm may occur; if sweating is induced again, stiffness and cramping will certainly result.
Patients with sores should not undergo sweating therapy; if sweating is induced, spasm will occur.
If a patient has fever in the body but cold feet, stiffness and tension in the neck and nape, aversion to cold, occasional heat in the head, red face and eyes, only the head trembles, sudden lockjaw, and opisthotonos, this is Jing (Spasm) disease. If sweating is induced, cold and dampness combine, the exterior becomes more deficient, and aversion to cold worsens; after sweating, if the pulse moves like a snake, suddenly becoming large and long, it indicates impending resolution; if the pulse remains unchanged, or is hidden and wiry, it indicates unresolved disease.
The pulse of Jing (Spasm) disease, when pressed, feels tight and wiry, moving straight up and down.
Jing (Spasm) disease in patients with moxibustion sores is difficult to treat.
